Hi folks,
I'm new to the site, and quite possibly a new (used) C-Dory owner. Currently I co-own a 20ft proline walk around with my brother that sits in a slip in the Santa Cruz harbor. The boat was perfect for my needs when I was living in Santa Cruz and had the it on a trailer in front of my house. However, now that its in a slip and 45 miles away, it spends more time sitting and rotting than fishing. I'm spending way too much on slip rentals and maintenance to justify the amount of time I spend fishing.
That brings me to the 16ft angler. It seems to be the most seaworthy boat that will fit in front of my house in Monterey. The space I have is about 23ft, and if I put a boat anywhere else I will be reminded of it daily by my wife .
So...can anyone offer some advice? I usually fish solo or plus 1, so deck space isn't too much of a problem. I don't see my self running out of the bay for Albacore, but weather permitting...maybe? I do want to be able to get to wherever the salmon are. I also do a lot of live bait fishing so I would be curious about where people have put live wells. Does she troll well? Would I have to high tail it at the first sign of a little wind?
Any advice or is greatly appreciated. Especially if you have experience with the Monterey Bay!
Joe
