My wife and I had a CD 16 Cruiser for 4 years and what we used for seating was two, stackable, rounded, inexpensive, light-weight plastic, lawn chairs, but it was meant for us -- not for extra passengers. (Incidentally, I'm assuming by cockpit, you mean the open part of the boat at the stern and not the cabin itself.) If you intend to use the cockpit area to carry two adults, while two more adults are sitting in the cabin, that is, in my opinion too much weight near the stern. If you have a main engine, kicker, and 12 gallons of fuel, I can tell you from experience that adding 370 pounds in the cockpit drags down the stern to such a degree, that it is incredibly difficult to get the boat onto plane with a 40 HP motor. Further, the boat feels very unsafe; I'm talking about real capsize risk. A lot of C-Brats may disagree with me, but that is my opinion about which I will remain steadfast. CD 16 Cruisers have a lot of roll in the stern, but the irony is that they respond very well to weight near the bow; it feels like stability is improved somewhat. That's why the manufacturer recommends a third person sit on the berth cushions.
