What I hate is when you see that "once in a lifetime deal" that you just have to move on or you'll never forgive yourself. I have ended up calling in sick to work and driving a couple of hundred miles just to find out that the item was a piece of junk and the seller misrepresented it. That really smokes my chops. I will say that I have been on the positive side of a few deals often enough to keep me looking. Usually though, if it's a steal, there are a dozen other people ahead of you. Some times you get lucky.
