14th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza, April 6 to 10, 2016

I wanta see ole Grandpaw Roger change a poopie diaper... one of those beauties that turns the sky grey and makes dogs run...

That would be...from the outside, upwind of the boat...heck, my kids are full grown and I still remember that terrible smell...

Thank you all for responding to me, and following through, by sending in your marina reservation checks. We have a full house again of ten vessels for this year’s Delta and Bay Extravaganza (14th Annual).

Below is the updated and corrected list of 21 attendees for this year’s event.

1. Pounder (Jim and Kath) Sacramento, Mi Wuk Village, and Jenner
2. Dinner Belle II (John and Robbin) Danville and Angles Camp
3. Slack Time (John and Laurie) Vallejo
4. SEA3PO (Joel and Susan) Camarillo and Chester
5. Far C’r (Floyd and Eiko) Redondo Beach
6. C-Casa (Pedro and Eileen) Oxnard
7. Dora Jean (Steve, Carmen, and Alex) Simi Valley
8. Lady Madonna (Ed and Chuck) Patterson
9. Little Bit (Scott and Barbara) Centennial, Colorado
10. C-Hawk (Roger and PJ) Carpinteria and Tehachapi.

Please note demographics of the attendees. Five vessels are coming about 400 miles (one way) from Southern California. Four vessels are coming from the Northern California area. The award for coming the farthest goes to Scott and Barbara who are transiting over 1,100 miles (one way) from Colorado!

Let’s all welcome Ed and Chuck, and Scott and Barbara, as the four new comers to our Extravaganza.

The long range weather forecast looks pretty good, and here’s hoping for fair weather for our journey and safe travels for all.

As this event is only one week away, I assume everyone is scrambling to get their boats out of storage and in shipshape for the land and water voyage.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone and having a good time.

On Thursday we have been again invited back to "The Balch Castle" for dinner in Petaluma. I tried to get Tom and Chris to go with us, or at least go to the Duck Club with us but Tom has to work.... They have a pool if anyone is interested in swimming...

Fantastic Joel!

We really look forward to this beginning of an Annual Event! It is like a step back in time to the Victorian Period, old time Petaluma!

The people-count of Dora~Jean has been reduced to 2, just Alex and myself. My wife was requested to fly back East for a family commitment, she said to tell the group she will miss them but happy as well where she's going!

I just looked at the Bay Area weather and they are expecting rain on Friday and Saturday.... best pack yer umbrella and booties..

Dear All.

Just talked to Dinner Belle II and everything is all set at the Duck Club for a grand kick-off party on Wednesday!

Kath and I will be launching about 10 AM Wednesday morning. We would like to leave the dock as a group at about Noon. I told John we would be at Wheeler Island about 2:30 PM. Wednesday.

It took me about an hour to get my outboard engine running today. It has not run since the Catalina Offshore Adventure last year. Everything is now all set and in working order.

We will have to watch out for high winds in the Delta on our trip with this change in weather. The winds were really blowing today, hopefully it will be calmer tomorrow.

Be Safe.

Jim & Kath

Hope you all have a good trip! Looks like more wind Thursday afternoon but less for the rest of the weekend.

I will be thinking of you as I do taxes for all the last minute filers.

Another Delta Cruise is in the books. Had a great time.
Thanks to Jim and Kathy for organizing the trip.
Thanks to John and Robin for the wonderful hospitality at the Duck Club.
It was great to see old friends and make new friends on the trip.
This trip was a new experience for us--- in that we had our 3 year old grandson with us. It was his first time being on the boat and I will have to say he had a great time keeping Papa and Nana busy.
It was a rough ride from the Duck Club to Petaluma across San Pablo Bay--- Rickey (grandson) slept through it. Petaluma to Sausalito was like glass. It rained Friday night in Sausalito and on to San Francisco on Saturday.

Just wanted to Thank you all for your hospitality. Chuck and I had a great time. I really appreciate each and everyone of you, it was special being with all of you. I look forward to seeing you all again. :thup

Thanks to everyone, we enjoyed meeting and making new friends. A special thanks to the organizers Jim and Kathy! As first timers you made us feel especially welcome.

The adventure continues.... Just completed two nights at Korth's Pirate Lair Marina (great Striper fishing in this area).......heading North on the Delta to near Walnut Grove.

Thanks again,
Scott & Barb

Thanks to everyone for coming to our 14th Annual Delta and Bay Extravaganza. Kath and I had another good time and we still look forward to doing our 15th event next year.

We had a very good group this year and we enjoyed everyone's company. John and Robbin did another great job hosting the Wheeler Island Duck Club dinner. Joel and Susan provided another wonderful offering by inviting us all over to their friends, Tom and Chris, in Petaluma, for an outstanding dinner and evening. John and Laurie provided a nice event in San Francisco by taking us to the South Beach Marina Yacht Club for dinner using reciprocal Vallejo Yacht Club privileges.

Steve and Alex thanks for your longstanding loyalty to this event and helping me with my boat electrical system. Floyd and Eiko we all enjoyed your homemade wine. Pedro and Eileen thanks for getting there on time even though you were a day late in your mind. Scott and Barbara thanks for your efforts to come from Colorado and your jalapeno bacon and shrimp was to die for. Ed and Chuck we are glad you made the trip and were able to get safely back home. Finally, Roger and PJ we enjoyed your grandchild Rickie and we recognize that you too went to great lengths to be at this event.

Again, thanks to all for your good company. This is not the easiest trip to go on, as some equate the event to a "forced march". We are appreciative to all that put in the work to join us on this adventure. We hope to see many of you next year at the same event!

Jim & Kath

Eiko and I returned from the Delta last night, we spent a few extra days getting the wheel bearings fixed and fiddling around on the river.

This has been our third Extravaganza and each one has been very special and unique experience. On this trip we had a variety of weather and sea conditions and for me that was exciting. Got to know how our boat handles in steep chop and wind on one day and then on the next it is so calm that we putter out the Golden Gate!

Will be putting together a video soon and creating a shared album for those of you that want to contribute any photos that you had taken. If you have a gmail account PM me your address and I will send a link as soon as I have got it set up

Extreme appreciation to Jim and Kathy, John and Robbin and everyone else who contributed to this fantastic voyage!

I have created a Google Pictures Album that all of you can view and add to. As I work on the video I would like to include some of this material. You can also download and use any of the images that you like.

https://goo.gl/photos/jYkxytHwjfYVLqR28

To add your own images to the album (please do, I need material for video) click on link above to open the Google Album called "14th Annual Delta Extravaganza Shared Album.

Step 1 - Press upper right icon with a + (Edit)
Step 2 - Press Upper Right Icon looks like a picture (Add to Album)
Step 3 - Press Select from Computer - (Upload your pictures)
Step 4 - Wait while it uploads to the album speed depends on your connection. Seems very slow so be patient(there is a progress bar at the bottom of the dialog).

If you have any problems please PM me and perhaps we can figure out another way for you to get your pictures to me.

Hello All
Just wanted to express our thanks to Jim, Kath, John, Robbin, Chris and Bobby for making our extravaganza so extravagant. It is always great to meet up with past friends and meet new ones. Hanging out shooting the breeze with Scott and Barbara in Sausalito was fun – great folks. But then again getting up early at Wheeler Island and landing a big fat striper was awesome! Thanks Bobby for running those pumps :thup . Always nice to have some variety on the way up to the Delta my feet were burning in the sand! It was like a little taste of summer, very nice. Well then as The Bay will do, the weather changed and the trip west towards Petaluma was pretty lumpy but not boring. How that little Rickey slept through that is a mystery to me. That SeaHawk cleary flys across the waves. Laurie and I also really enjoyed meeting up and scooting about the bay with Ed and Chuck. Floyd and Eiko I will send some photos out to you. Joel and Susan you guys are the best wish we had a bit more time to hang out, who knows maybe Chester in July. Pedro and Eileen short but sweet…. Dora Jean, Steve and Alex you guys are truly great but make sure that Carmen gets aboard next time. I will try to post some pics, who knows could be a pic of an Awesome Striper … or Stripper I get so confused.

Nice pics everyone. Seems as the years go by we (on Dora Jean) take less and less pictures, so it's nice to have others take some, always brings back great memories of each trip. And each trip has it's own unique environment and circumstances, so never are two the same. Great video Floyd, I believe that's the first time I've seen one of my boat--shows just how nice it was on that day.

And thanks again as others have said to all who made this trip absolutely outstanding, each day/night a treat for us. We're spoiled I'm afraid... But, we shouldn't explain TOO MUCH about the trip to the world, it's becoming more and more a mad rush to get signed up for the next one...
