Thanks for that info and the link. I have see at least 2 of these in the Mystery Bay area. This one and an orangy red version. Fast yes, out there jumping wakes, and screaming. Too cramped for me, but the kids were loving them. I agree the jet ski seems to be a much safer, and more fun ride. And yes, do plan on getting wet, in either.

Well they gave me a fresh Hull ID and I have tabs now and a reg but I have to work on applying a rating sticker properly rated for this little craft. I think the 11.5 version of the Sterling boat is one of the best comparison models out there. It is rated for a total of 500lbs including motor and gear and rated for 3 persons and up to 15hp with 10 being more optimal. I am also using the boat builder coast gaurd safety guide to educate me through the process.

Time to order some reg. numbers.
 
It has a HIN on it now, and a USCG capacity plate, and I even have a title for it that they told me would take 3 years? We had the chance to take it for run in the salt today with a 4hp 4 stroke Yamaha. Pushes it just barely onto a slow plane with just one adult shifted forward and Aven in the bow didn't seem to make a difference. With a second adult there was no chance. I didn't have a GPS running but I would guess about 8-9mph was our max on semi-plane. I think a 6hp unit would plane one person nicely with a good jump in speed. Nice day on the water this morning!

Bet it was a fun trip. Sounds like a 9.9 and you could pull Aven on skis, carry an observer and a lunch. Good work on getting the paper work already.

In the early 90's when the C-Dory plant was on old Hwy. 99 they offered
as a standard item out of the factory 3 different smaller boats, 2 were
of the same style as the one pictured here and the other was a 16' Yukon
Rowing Skiff. Best I can recall the 16' was about 43" wide or so at it's widest
point and the stern was generous (almost a takeoff of the Grumman sport
canoe. The 16' rowing skiff was a sweet little craft. I had looked at them when I
was in Seattle on a trip and wound up having Marc ship the 16' skiff and a
unassembled trailer to me in Fairbanks. Ran a 9.8hp Merc on it for years
on the rivers and lakes up here and loved it. I was trailering it thru town on
my way home from a fishing trip one day and a car had followed me home.
A nice lady got out of the car and said she had been following me for a couple
of miles and wanted to get a closer look at the boat. She fell in love with
it apparently. and talked me out of it. We hooked it up to her rig and
haven't seen her or the boat since. Hated to see it go, but since I was
spending more time in PWS and had it's big brother I guess it was time.
 
Harvey, I'm sure I do have some pics, but I'm really going to have to do some digging to find them. I'll get
after it and see what I can come up with.
 
I found a couple of pics of the 16' rowing skiff that my grandkids were in, but they were in the form of 4" x 6" prints and I can scan
them and send them by e-mail from my scanner. No problem doing that, but once on my computer they show up as "preview"on
my Mac and I can't do anything with them from there. If you want to look at them I would have to send directly from my scanner
to you.

The config on on the 16'er is pretty cool. There is a small bow seat, a midship bench seat and two small corner seats (one on either
side" at the stern), all of which are fiberglass layup -presumably with flotation, leaving an open spot between them for a fuel tank,
a six pack, big feet, or whatever at the transom. I'll keep looking for some better pics showing the detailed layout.
 
3rd Byte,

You can change the format from Preview by doing the following:

Open the photo with preview.
From the top menu bar select File, then Save as, then in the window where it says 'format' click the arrows to the right and select JPEG.

This will save the photo as a JPEG file that can be uploaded to C-Brats or sent as an attachment to a email.
 
Thanks, Larry, for the tutorial. Change in plans though. I found a bunch of quality pics of the 16'rowing skiff
on 35mm film. I'll see if I can convert them to a disc and that will make it much more convenient. Damm, l
looking at those pics make me wish I'd never sold the boat.
 
Mark, Thanks for going to all the effort. BTW, I know how you feel, I sold a 12ft Montgomery many years ago, and never should have. either.

OK, Hardee, I put some pics of the C-Dory 16' Rowing Skiff on
my photo album (page 4).........finally. The pics were taken in 1997,
so that tells me I probably bought it from C-Dory in the mid-90's.
They were sure a nicely done craft.

Bad on me for selling her.
 
Mark, Thanks for the update. I saw the pics. Nice looking. Thanks again for the effort.

By the way, I like what you did with the Trim tabs too. Great idea.
