The Seahorse is the self-propelled crane barge that Northern Marine Salvage uses. There is a good deal of cooperation between Campbell and Northern Marine Salvage. They are located right next to one-another.
(Hey, Warren's addicted...that was me, two weeks ago!)
So, what are the plans for lunch? Caryn ran into Brock yesterday and he mentioned that those who don't have their boats can still meet everyone for lunch. Is there a scheduled time? Is it still at Chinook's at Fisherman's Terminal? Let us know, we might try to meet y'all for lunch.

So,
Here's the plan - (from an earlier post in this thread)
We'll all join up in Lake Washington just W of the Husky football stadium around 10AM. and cruise down through the locks and back again. We'll plan on a late lunch (about 12:30 or 1PM) at Chinooks and probably wrap up around 3 or 4PM by the time we return to our launches.
I am planning on us all tying up at Chinooks for the meal and the "fantabulous" prize awards ceremony. E.g. the best decorated boats will receive a prize. I'll have some bottles of wine for 1st and 2nd place. My mom will be joining the trip and since she has no vested interest in the group, if no-one objects, we can make her the honorary judge (I'm disqualified for this contest).
At this point in time, the NOAA forecast is showing a 20% chance of precip with a low of 37 and a high of 44 and 80% plus cloud cover. Not the fabulous weather I was hoping for but not bad for Seattle in Dec.

Sounds like a plan to me, Roger! We will probably launch at Mercer Island or 40th Street. Dunno about the decorations though...if the stars align just right, we should have a brand new King Marine camperback on Crabby Lou, and the Mr Heater Buddy blasting away! If not, the Alaska bulkhead Patty made is pretty scumpo too!

We'll be launching on the west side of the lake at Magnuson park probably around 9:30AM. Don't know what (or if) I'll do about decorating the boat - since I DQ'd myself anyway, the motivation will be low but I know Tom will do it up right.
Maybe Brock will show and have the cat dressed up or somethin'.

Susan and I will be at the ramp around 830 to 9am to get launched and make the short cruise. We will have to leave around 430 to make a company xmass party in lynnwood at six.

I'm still planning on running from Edmonds early Saturday morning and locking through around...um...9:30? 10:00? Hard to pin it down precisely.
Which brings up another point...anyone willing to have me to pick them up at the Shilshole gas dock around 9:30 am?
Thing is, I'll have one to two children along, but no adults, and I'd like a grown-up line handler. Experience not required...it's dead simple. I just need an extra pair of hands on the foredeck. Anybody want a dress rehearsal of locking through before you try it with your own boat? Anybody shopping for a C-Dory and want to get some hands-on experience? Email me at tim@navagear.com.
Of course, all bets are off if the Sound is a washing machine tomorrow morning. Right now, it kinda looks like it might be. On the other hand, there are small craft advisories in effect right now, and it's pretty smooth off Edmonds.

Well - right now it looks like a little rain in the AM (.2") and wind of 10-15kts from the south dropping down to 8-10 kts mid-day. Not perfect weather for boating but not too bad for Seattle in Dec. and WAY better than last year (just like I "promised" - well sort of like I promised anyway). I have the awards selected and Mom will be with. I'll be getting up early in the AM to make sure the boat's ready. Last roll call before the cruise!

Indeed, the weather is "dependable" - dependably crappy, as predicted! But the stars did align, we have the new camperback on Crabby Lou, propane for the Mr. Heater Buddy, and thanks to Patty's check-in with Ruth for a cake recipe, there is a better than average chance that R-Matey will come tomorrow instead of Sunday! Now, if Bambina should surprise us, or even if Brock just shows up at Chinooks, the day will be complete no matter what!

If you left pretty soon, you could meet us at the 40th St Ramp in Bellevue, new camperback would keep you dry, we have a couple of folding chairs, and the Mr Heater Buddy will be blasting away keeping the area inside all nice and toasty!

Ruth and Joe - Or you could meet us on the west side of the Lake at Magnuson Park around 9:30AM - it would be cozy with 5 adults inside the cabin of the 22 - but it's doable.

We all met up just east of the Husky football stadium around 10:15 and cruised past Marty (Lizzie) at the Montlake cut a little while later. Thanks to an earlier exchange of phone numbers, Marty came down and took the photos above.
The weather was snotty when we launched with winds of about 20kts from the SSE. However, once we got around the corner and towards the football stadium the water was fine and the rest of the trip was pretty protected. We elected not to go through the locks, but we did cruise down close to them. Then we arrived at Chinooks a little before noon and we were greeted by the crew who arrived by land. I don't know how many C-Brat gatherings I've been to but it always seems that Joe is there to lend a hand with the lines.
After a little chit-chat on the docks, it was into Chinooks. It took about 10-15 minutes but a table for 10 + a nearby booth for four was quickly arranged and we had a lovely group lunch.
As promised, there was an "awards ceremony" for the best decorated boat. I brought a prize for 1st and a prize for second. First place was not too hard to identify as only the Susan E had any decorations. Second place was a little trickier. However, since Patty had on a Christmas sweatshirt that she decorated herself and since she was on the boat, I counted her a boat "decoration" and she got the other bottle. A good time was had by all and, as always, the nicest people were there.

Tom and Susan - I'll look forward to some photos of your boat in the dark with your decorations. The reindeer on the front looks great!
We just got back from the Christmas Parade on South Padre Island... this one is on the land. A few marching bands, some convertibles with pretty girls and local politicos sitting in the back waving, a few dance troupes, a couple gymnastic schools, some lighted floats from local businesses, a preschool dressed up like elves... and the truly local flavor: an Elvis impersonator in a red jumpsuit, and the Valley Lo-Rider Club (with cars hopping up and down!). One pickup went by with a loud sound-system in the back that started on fire right in front of us! :xseek No, I don't think that was part of the parade entertainment, but they unplugged the loud music and the smoke dissipated.
I love a parade! (Que the music)
