I'm new so I don't know. Has there ever been any thought of an East Coast presense for C-Dory? After seeing photos of the 12 and sometimes the 14, I can't help but wonder why someone has not negotiated being able to produce the smaller models on this side of the country. To me a 12, a 14 and a 16 model could compete against the Stumpknockers and Gheenoes and even some of the many flats boat manufactuers we have here in Florida. I can't help it. I love the boat and I don't even have mine yet.

I don't even know how long it's been since any of the 12's or 14's have been produced, or where the molds are, or who owns them and/or the rights to produce them, etc.

It would seem to be a nice idea to get them back in production, and the marine industry is on the rebound, but re-establishing the smaller boats into production would seem to be a project for another entrepreneur or manufacturer until the basic C-Dory 16-225 line is running well again for Triton, which seems to have it's hands full right now.

I can't disagree with you. I hope the economy is improving enough that people start buying boats and horses again. Usually the first things to go when money gets tight. Do feel there has to be an entry level for new boaters to create loyalty to a brand and that is where the smaller models can make a difference. By the way I am having a Minnkota RT 55EM Saltwater Engine Mount Trolling Motor installed based on a post of yours a while back. I think it will be a very handy thing to have.

I certainly agree with you, but there are aluminum boats which are excellent, lighter and work as well in these conditions--some have lines somewhat similar to the C Dory--one of my favorites--which I have owned two of is the Duroboat. The smallest is 10 feet and largest is 16 feet. A 16 footer with two 20's gals did the Great Loop a few years ago. I saw the 12 in some seas which seemed rough in my then 42 foot Symbol trawler, and it was doing fine.

If you want a wooden/glassboat like this it would be easy to do in stitch and glue. Then you could pull a mold and go in business--the Florida Dory!
