12/13 - Lake WA & Locks Cruise

Well boys and girls, it's about that time again. Anyone else up for a Sat or Sun cruise from Lake WA through Lake Union to the locks with lunch at Chinooks? Last year we did this on Dec. 15th and as promised I arranged for good weather. This year, I was thinking we could do this on either Dec. 13 or 14. I'll provide two awards for the two best decorated boats (undoubtedly Tom's Susan E and whoever else has time on their hands). Any preference for either of my suggested days? Once again, I am promising good weather and good fun.

The Lori Ann is under cover in Richfield, UT until just after Xmas, when we will pick her up to continue on to FL. But maybe we can get a ride with someone and/or meet up at Chinooks?

Warren, I'm sure you can bum a ride or at the very least meet us all at Chinooks for lunch.

Tom and Pat - Any preference for Sat. 12/13 vs Sun 12/14? I personally would rather do the Sat. for two reasons - one is it gives me Sun to wash the boat down afterward and two it would allow us to shift to Sun if for some reason Sat is not weather cooperative.

Brock - buddy - I assume you'll show up for a locks cruise. Ditto for Roger and Lisbeth, Fred, Ruth and Joe, David (from Guemes) and many of the other locals. Even if you don't want to drag the boat out, it's a good excuse to show up for a local lunch. Maybe we can even talk Dusty into making an appearance (perhaps Ruth and Joe can kidnap him on the way down).

OK folks, you see how over-confident Tom is, who is going to challenge him and his dang fake deer? David did a pretty good job in 2003...something inflatable maybe, juice up the voltage and maybe he could challenge the dang fake deer!

Honey were did I put the fake deer......hey roger how about diet coke this year, I cant drink wine.

Is there room on a CD-25 for a set of reindeer, a sleigh, and a Santa Claus, too?

Would Rudolph have to have a GREEN nose showing to Starboard?

Could Patty drive the boat, you put on the Santa Claus suit, have some egg nog or hot buttered rum, and sport a red nose yourself?

Joe. :teeth :thup

I had a chance to chat with Dave from Plan C yesterday and we were talking about getting together when he mentioned this cruise. We (SleepyC :moon ) are going to do at least one trip per month this winter and thought this might work, maybe from across the way at Brownsville. Could become weather dependant obviously, but the motivation (Fish and Chips at Chinook's) is fairly high.

Warren and Lori Ann - you are more than welcome to ride with us - we will take Daydream instead of Crabby Lou. We will be launching at 40th Street in Bellevue, we can arrange details via PM if you like.

Given that no-one has indicated a preference, lets shoot for Sat., Dec. 13th. We'll all join up in Lake Washington just W of the Husky football stadium around 10AM. and cruise down to/through the locks and back again. We'll plan on a late lunch (about 12:30 or 1PM) at Chinooks and probably wrap up around 3 or 4PM by the time we return to our launches. If the weather is bad, we might have to switch to Sun the 14th and having Sat. as the initial date will allow us to do that.

I'll bring something other than wine to reward the top two best decorated boats - maybe I'll bring chocolate instead. (Tom diet Coke just doesn't sound "rewarding" enough). Mike or Bill - can we get a sign up sheet for this one?

We are signed up. Have not heard from Warren yet - if we have passengers, it will be the 25, otherwise the 16...I have the local hardware store scouting all the 12 volt LED Christmas stuff, already have a couple of secret weapons lined up, of course no fake deer yet...

Sorry I did not get back to you roger. saturday is good for us. If I cant get a diet coke how about a round of skinny cows???

Assuming you are one of the winners (or at least one of the wieners), I'll make sure that a non-wine, Tom appropriate, prize is available.

Looks like we are out of the running and Tom's non wine winning package is safe. Family medical obligation conflict. Sorry to miss out. You all have a great time. We will be watching for the glow on the horizon.

Just another bump - 6 signups so far (including me). For those who have not done this one in the past, it's a good low key way to get the boat out in the winter season and to meet a few brats. I think the locks cruise from 2004 may have been the first C-brat gathering I went to. If you don't make it by boat, you can always stop in for lunch at the restaurant. BTW - what would the group think about doing lunch at Ivar's on Lake Union instead of Chinooks? That way I could potentially reserve a room for the lunch.

Hey Catman :cat- I don't see you signed up yet. Don't see Fred either. You two were two of the first brats I met at the early gathering.

Two Lucky Fish will be there. Her home port, starting early in December, will be on Lake Union, so these will be "home waters" for us.

Cathy and I will not know until a day or two before the cruise! I'm in charge of the Lions club Christmas tree sales and have to make sure all shifts are covered. It sounds like a good time will be had by all.
