10/23 - 10/25
Sorry for not letting everybody know sooner .
Have been wide open this summer and we hope that continues !
Will confirm location , should be same as last year . River Crest on Bay City Rd.
A signup sheet would be great !
Marc

I so regretted missing last year. Will definitely be there this year. I had such a good time two years ago.

Would someone who knows how please set up the signup sheet?

Well I am not getting caught this year with my pants down. I registered late last year and had to stay in Port St. Joe.

I just made reservations at the Best Western Motel for October 22 thru 25 so we will have a place to sleep for the Apalachicola Gulf Coast Gathering.

This is a really fun and good time to be had by all. I believe this is my 8th year and I would not miss it for anything. Plan early and come, I guarantee you will enjoy the experience.

We will arrive on Thursday afternoon, so Marc if you need any help we are available.

this is something I have wanted to do for as long as it has been going on. I have wanted to make my way out there to Florida to this gathering. from WA state.
I am gonna try to make this this year. I have no potatos to harvest in Oct any More. the corn is coming off next week and the fall tractor work will be done.....Yay.

what is the name of the Best Western I need to make reservations for?

SENSEI

Go on line to Best Western Motels and enter the location of Apalachicola, Florida. Apalachicola is a small town (3000 people) and there is only one Best Western.

They will be glad to see you and we will too.

Wow, I love the enthusiasm of this! If one member is coming from WA then surely having members come from New England wouldn't sound as crazy! Interesting.....

Hi Marc!
We'll be there, but without Cat O' Mine this year.
3 weeks later we're hauling her down to Key West for 2 weeks.
Loving your great Float-On trailer with EOH brakes and OBD controller.
We both retire Aug 31, 2017 and will sling this rig all over the continent after that.
If we ever decide to sell it before YOU retire, YOU ARE THE DEALER WE TRUST!
New Garmin GFS-10's are showing the expected 2.0 to 2.2 MPG Combined at 3600-4000 RPM, 22-27 MPH with Solas 4 blade 17P props, bimini, rough bottompaint in Heavy Cruising Mode (11,600# towed wt with 600# fuel).
Cheers!
John

Rivercrest Lodge location is confirmed ! There are 2 cabins [Dolores Roux] that are close by that are usually available with lots of parking , the Gibson Inn , The Water Street Hotel , The Apalachicola River Inn , Riverwood Suites at Biltmore House [new] and more .
Look forward to seeing everybody !
Marc

There is another thread started for this. I will lock that one with a note referring all you fine folks to this official one.

The signup list is in place.

Marc, you didn't mention the food (Marc is too modest)--it is fantastic. You want safe fresh oysters?--then they are there. Sea food. Chicken and barbecue to die for….Then there is the "local" band, with Marc on the base. One of the best gatherings--and you can come by land or sea…Not sure about air!

The setting, is out of the Ole South…monsters could come out of the swamp (OK small alligators have been seen there)….

We are on the Cumberland River now, and haven't decided when to come to the coast. Perhaps a week early and hang out behind some of the barrier islands. Or, perhaps, launch near Mobile and make our way east.

Anyone else have time to spend?

Chuck

Time is getting close! October 23, 24 and 25.

Sign up now as the gathering is only two weeks away.

We really want you to come and join in the fun.

Getting closer to the dates . Hope to see a few more folks but we have our regular core group coming . If anybody needs help finding accomodations let me know . We have our caja china ready for this years event !
Marc

Two Bears is still on the Cumberland and will be for a few more days. Then it's laundry and other house keeping, so we won,t arrive in Apalach until just before the gathering. We will probably launch under the bridge and boat in.

Chuck

Just wondering. If a guy was able to show up at the last minute, where would they plan on launching? And there has been talk of Best Western and other lodges. Are there places to tie up and stay on their boat?

The Battery Park Marina usually has slips if our Wefings slips [in that Marina] are not available . If you are mostly self contained the Rivercrest lodge has places to tie up and even has a launch ramp for early arrivals and Sun/Mon departures . The water street Marina has slips with power and water and its not far from the gathering location .We can always find a spot for you !
Marc

In Apalachicola you can launch at the city marina. They have a really nice boat launch area and you can park your vehicle and trailer under the John Gorrie bridge. It is a safe place to leave your vehicle/trailer parked. You can stay at the city marina almost for free. The police are supposed to collect the dock rent but I have stayed there and no one ever comes around to collect. You are only 1 block from downtown.

If you want to stay on your boat I would suggest the Water Street Marina and Motel on Sippio Creek. I think slip rental is $1.50 per foot with a 25 cent discount if you are a BoatUS member. They provide electricity and water and have a nice shower. The motel/condo rooms are very expensive during this time of year. The Rivercrest gathering area is up Sippio Creek about a half of mile.

The Best Western is 2 miles from downtown and that is where I am staying as I have sold my C-Dory.

Other places to stay:
Apalachicola Inn
Gibson Hotel
El Rancho
Coombs Bed and Breakfast
and many others

Try checking places to stay in Apalachicola on TRIVAGO

Apalachicola is a small town of about 3000 citizens. The downtown is about 2 blocks by 2 blocks in area. Check out the ice cream shop and the chocolate - gelato place. My pick for seafood is the Seafood Grill on the corner by the blinking light. 6 blocks west from the marina is a Piggly Wiggly Grocery store. Be sure and visit the "Tin Shed" for lots of old marine artifacts and stuff.

If you go online to one of the map providers you can look at and print a map of Apalachicola that shows you where everything is.

If you need anymore help, send me a private message and I will help you.
