10/20 - 10/22 - Gulf Coast Gathering

Thanks for the good info, Marc. We bought our Florida saltwater licenses last night and it was real simple. For those who are going to do likewise, you print out a page that will get ya by until the real deal comes in the mail. We're looking forward to the fishing very much!

WOW... re-enlisting would have been much easier...
Well, Patrick, does block 27 of your DD-214 have an RE-1 code? Maybe I can hook ya up. I'll see if we can waive all that prior service time...what was it, twenty-something? Oh, and the age limit......um, and you got any physical issues? Problems with the Law?

Hey, we'd be happy to be part of the "C-Dory Caravan of Love" on the 18th...but no-can-do. That darn thing called work keeps messing up our boating time! We're planning an oh-dark-thirty departure on the 20th and should arrive at John's house around 1pm or so.

Counting the days...we really need to get away and relax, even if it is only for a couple days. As Marc put it...the "Southern C-Dory Woodstock".

Rick

Thanks to all for your post on this gathering. Will be on the road till I hit the road for this trip. So....if those of you would please send in an update as to your arrival plans we would appreciate it.

Thanks...and see yall soon.

Byrdman

Hello everyone---Sorry to say but, it looks like we will not be able to make the gathering, my boat is in Fredricksburg, Va. by way of Lake Champlain, Lake Geo., and (twice) to the eastern shore this year, and I'm in Calif. until the 1st part of Nov. on business matters. I will be on the intercoastal in Fla. after Nov. 15th, hope to see some of you then. Regretfully----Rich

Bring a jacket and long pants. It was down to 42 last night at our house in Penacola on Perdido Bay. But up to almost 80 today, so the temps can fluctuate. Current prediction is 20% chance of rain, and high of 76 on Friday. But that all can change.

Finally got work details aligned and the pet sitter falls thru. Finally got that worked out tonight. So, Kay and I should be there mid-day Friday with C-WEED in tow. Sounds like a great time. Can't wait to meet all you people and see other CD's besides mine!

Just getting back in off the road from another road trip to Montgomery and AUBURN.....GO TIGERS!!!! Much better night than last Saturday.

OPEN house went real good with 3 folks turning in bids...so... kinda got them in a flight pattern in order of time line and their banking... and truly looking forward to getting Terry in from the Buffalo NY area....a day in Nashville, then on the road towards the gulf on Wednesday.

Regretably, I got the call from Brother Roger Johnson....and the storage facilityies could not accept his crop fast enough get it all out of the fields and processed/stored... the good news is....he had already purchased flight tickets....and will use them in a short spell and I will be forced to go play boating another week wandering about the SE areas where ever he wants to go see.

See yall later this week...and truly regret those whos schedules did not work out.....and to my WEST COAST SANTA BARBARA GATHERING FRIENDS.... YES, WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE....AND TRULY APPRECIATED THE CALL.

GOOD NIGHT.

Hi folks -

Just a quick note and a question before going to work. Mondays

In response to the request for everyone to post arrival plans - We can't leave 'til after work Friday, but will do so then. Means we should get to Apalach by 8 or 9 pm. We'll launch at the city ramp and find our way upriver with great trust in our GPS and night vision.

Now the question - What about kicking in to cover the cost? As we understand Byrdman is bring BBQ, Marc is bringing seafood. All we know to do so far is just show up. Is there a fund we can contribute to, is it customary to pass the hat, or what? We're more than willing.

Cheers,

Hey Skip. SOunds great. Depending on the flow of things we may have someone at the ramp to provide escort who has a known good "trail" laid down. Easy run with no issues, but after a work week, then a drive in the dark, launching in the dark... a little local knowledge would only be sourthern for ya.

:cry :cry :cry :crook
well, I tried and tried to control the weather and such but alas, mother nature wins again....lol....
I will not be able to join ya'll for this gathering. I was so looking forward to getting down thataway and meeting yas all and having a wonderful time. Instead I will be home here in WA State still trying to dig the last of the potatos and pick more corn for market.
I was going to bring some corn with me for my donation to the potluck. we are still enjoying very sweet corn this year. we have just started picking the last planting We have white,Yellow and bicolor all coming on at the same time.
Any local brats wanting some fresh corn are welcome

well, you all have a wonderful gathering and have a :beer for me whilst I stay at home working.....lol.....

I Talked with Brenda on Falcon last PM. They launched in Cotton Bayou and were staying the night at the ramp dock. Today we have winds over 25 knots and rain--so not an ideal day for traveling. We will be under way on Wednessday--most things are ready to go..

I don't know--but if it were real late when I got in after trailering, I probably would just bring the boat on the trailer to the "party" and launch the next AM. Stay on the boat on the hard. We often find that makes more sense than trying to rush in the dark.

Roger Man.... I did appreciate the call but hated the news Brother. But.. for sure we will have to keep an eye on that ticket you have purchased and we will put it to good use. Corn freezes too....(hint)...and travels well in cooler luggage like you know I travel with.

Just talked with NY Terry and he made it out of the Buffalo NY area just fine yesturday ....and is now in KY...about 3 hours away from my home....so...things are looking good for Terry.

Helped Jeff and Cathy pull their boat Sunday morning...and will link with them enroute on Wednesday.

Picking up BBQ in the morning and going to Mom's to hook up C-Byrd.

Playing phone message tag with Rick and Donna.... and will continue till I hook up with a human.

Really looking forward to this. See Yall soon

Byrdman

Bonnie..... at Kodak...

Byrdman has Terry man in captivaty. The bail bondsman was really pretty to us this morning and let us out in time to head south for the gathering. Do not worry.... If Terry can not pick you up at the airport on Thursday, we have met some troopers who also like boats and will get you from the airport to the Gathering.

Looking forward to meeting you and see you soon.

Byrdman

Hiway 19 to Perry , left on 98 all the way to Apalachicola . Left at flashing yellow light in "downtown" Apalach , right at only real stoplight in Franklin County[ 12th St. ] about 5 miles to railroad tracks [ 2nd set] a little further to Pogy Rd. [ will have signs or balloons or something ] right and follow the signals about 1/4 mile to the gathering place .
Look forward to meeting you !!!! 25 Tug coming today !

I arrived in Albany, Ga. this morining at 5:30 AM and my brother and his kids put a Honda 10hp kicker on the back of Papillon and is in the process of loading food stuffs and the kitchen sink on board. If she sinks, you will all know that you should not add the kitchen sink. We will be hitting the water around noon at Bainbridge, Ga. on the Flint River and lock through this afternoon to the Apalatchicola River if all goes as planned. Looking foward to seeing y'all soon.

You might say a prayer for the other C-Brats when this redneck rookie comes bouncing in to the party. I'm sure someone will show me how you drive a boat  The wife did buy some big fenders. They look good on'er too. (C-Pearl...the boat) Got the Sattelite TV and crisps for the Auburn game Saturday.

Well, we are back home, boat cleaned and boy did we ever have a blast.
It was our first gathering and what a gathering it was! The food was great, the scenery was awesome and the company, outstanding. A big thanks to Marc and Anita (Wefings), John and Sherrie, our gracious hosts and Byrdman for all the hard work(and the BarBQ). It was so nice to put some faces with the C-Brat names and I am sure we can speak for everyone in saying a good time was had by all. Pictures to follow shortly!
