10/17 - 10/19 - Gulf Coast Extravaganza

Well I just got back from my trial run to Apalach. Sampled the seafood and enjoyed the scenery.

Beautiful water.

Ran across a Green 25' foot c-dory near Panama City and crossed paths with Simplicity on their last leg of their journey.

All in all a good trip

Marc....made it back--all a.o.k! :D

I'm thinking about making the trip with my 15-year-old son...but our only boats are kayaks. I'm retirement eligible and will very likely do so in 3-4 years. Just told the missus I'd be willing to retire in FL, her home state, but only if a 22' C-Dory is a part of the deal...since my home is kida sorta Colorado... Make sense? I'd really like to get a good look at some C-Dory boats and talk with owners.

Simplicity -- Nice kayak. Gotta ask if you made it from a kit. I finished up mine, a Pygmy Osprey Std, a few months back and love it.

All folks with an interest in C Dorys are welcome . There looks to be enough boats for someone to get as much information as they could ever want about the C Dory lifestyle .Both detailed info on the models and the Big Picture of travel and practicality and comfort.

We have a diverse family of owners from Joe Sixpack to Mainstreet and maybe even Wall Street. We know what its like to be a single boat owner . And we will not raise taxes on the middle class as a result of our gathering . I just had to say that after watching the debates ............
Come and C-Party with us !
Marc

Our plans are about finalized. We'll leave Bear Point Marina Wednesday am, spend the night at Bluewater Bay, arrive Appalach Thursday sometme (GLW). Anybody spot us, please don't point and laugh.

Remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get you.

Hello everyone,
It was great seeing a C-Dory as we approached the finish line of our Great Loop Trip. Sorry Ashley Lynn we couldn't quite communicate, but it was great seeing you.

The kayak is from a pygmy kit that Alan made about 15 years ago. It is one of his pride and joys. We have been going crazy at the farm since we have been back, but we are planning to come to the gathering to meet all of you.

Marc,
Appreciate reading your humor on the debate. After this week of the crazy markets, bailouts and watching our retirement wither away it was good to laugh.

See you in a couple of weeks

Linda and Alan ,great to hear you are attending . We will have a GREAT crowd this year with a number of new C Brats ! The Gumbo will be Marc's this year , and I will humbly try to carry on the tradition of great gumbo on Friday Night .

Since the debates and campaign have turned into mud slinging fests , we will be hosting the first annual political wives and candidate's mud wrestling contest at our gathering . It will be Michelle Obama versus Sara Palin and will be moderated by Hulk Hogan . It will be viewed through a crack in the glass cieling, the contestants will arrive in Ford Mavericks, will be decidedly Pro C Dory and will support the reform of the C Brat family values .
Vote for C Dory '08

Just running by the weather as I see it this next week from Pensacola to the West. We had several days of small craft warnings, and winds over 20 knots out of the East in Pensacola area which may continue through Tuesday evening. This seems to be calming down over Wednesday thru Friday, but some of the long bays might still be subject to some significant chop. There is a decreasing chance of thunderstorms from Wednesday. The majority of the winds seem to be out of the East 5 to 10 knots at the end of the week. We found that it was cool at night and we wore jeans and light jackets after dark this weekend.

Gas at the pump in Pensacola is currently at a low of $2.82 per gallon for regular. I don't know if the marine docks have decreased their prices, but I doubt it.

Mark--would you run by the meal schedule again? We recollect that some folks brought hors d'oeuvres Friday Night?

We are looking forward to seeing any of the C Brats along the way.

Hello everyone,

Would it crash the party if we (Joy and Sally) showed up on our Rosborough RF246? We have long term plans to be in Apalach this Thursday and Friday and are staying at the Water Street Marina with reservations there. If welcome, we might join your group for a while on Friday or Saturday on our way back west.
