10/12 - 10/14 - Santa Barbara Seafood Festival

Just received good news--

Gelcoat is done, they need to wet sand and polish which is tomorrows agenda.
Boat will launch at the end of the day and you can definitely spend the
night.

Reading your coms make me feel like I am going to miss a great C-Brat weekend. :( Last year was my first and it was great from beginning to end.
I leave home on Sunday for Mexico. :D Sailing under the Golden Gate on a 44'er to depart on the Baja Ha ha Oct.29th. We will hang at Catalina for a few days before the dept. Who knows, I might spend the rest of my winters on this boat in Mexico. Gizmo is at CYA. She wants to go up to
Santa Barbara with you guys as last year. BUT.
Have a great time, may the seas be with you.

AAAHHHGGGG

We'll launch Friday morning also, but probably at Ventura. Have to get Miles back home Saturday night, so plan to leave Santa Barbara late afternoon on Saturday, or possibly after the pot luck. 2 full days isn't too bad, I enjoy ALL time away from work!

Just got home.....and we'all had a great time.... Friday night it rained but all that did was clean the boat and make for a beautiful Sat morning.... the Seafood Festival was super as usual....we ate crab...next year I will go for the lobster.... had a good ride home...ocean was flat and we flew...
This afternoon Roger did up a bunch of his Alaskan Halibut and we ate like little pigs at the Yacht Club.... Roger did a super job leading us...We were tired when we got home....But glad we went....
Nine boats attended.... made for a great dock party...

Good Job Roger !!\

Thanks Joel-

I felt as if I were disorientated all weekend--- The boat was not in the water until 0930 and I did not have time to load and organize anything on the boat-- just threw everything on boat and left for Santa Barbara.

An interesting trip indeed-- 3 yes, 3 radios went on the blink on the trip to Santa Barbara. Ron (Islander) last reception, Joel (SEA3PO) lost a speaker and John (from Bakersfield) could not transmit. When we arrived in the harbor, Ron located and fixed a loose neutral, Joel bought a new radio and John was able to locate and fix his problem.

Thanks to Steve (Dora~Jean) for taking the lead to Painted Cave while I continued on to Santa Barbara with the others. We did see several dolphins on Friday, no whales this trip.

In addition to Chris (Rana Verde), Joel & Sue (SEA3PO), Mike (Sealife), Ron (Islander), Roy & Lucky (WaterLillie), Steve & Miles (Dora~Jean), Scott (Li'l Rascal), John (Bakersfield) and Roger & PJ (Fishtales) we had two new attendies this year- Jeff Lastofka (boat name?) and Ron Niner (Little Cute-C). Keith & Kimiko drove up by car.

Friday evening, we had a good dinner at the Endless Summer Cafe at the harbor. It started raining while we were in having dinner and rained most of the night.

Saturday, we had breakfast at the Breakwater and then a few of us went uptown to the Boaters World where Ron (the Manager) gave us a discount on our purchases (Joel got a good deal on the radio)
Then we pigged out on the seafood of your choice, PJ and I filled up on uni (urchin) and albacore. that evening we had our dock party and had a great time of fellowship.

Sunday, after breakfast at the Breakwater, we returned to Channel Islands Harbor. After trailering the boats we met Anacapa Yacht Club for our "after cruise" dinner. Sue of SEA3PO made some great orso(sp?) salad!!

I want to thank everyone for the wonderful time and fellowship.

Miles and I had a great time also. First year in many that the sea gods were kind enough to let us get to Santa Cruz Is and see the painted cave (600 ft plus deep, largest/deepest in the western hemisphere I believe). For those that missed that excursion, I also toured many of the neat coves and anchorages along the way that are so famous during the summertime: Potato Bay, Chinese Harbor, Prisoner's, Pelican's, Platt's, Fry's, Lady's, and Cuava Valdez with it's 3-way cave entrance from water and 2 by land. Great time, nice weather, 20+ kts back from the island to Santa Barbara, 22 nm.

And thanks to you Roger and PJ for all the organization and of course the good eat'n this afternoon to end the trip. I'll post some pictures also.

Thank you Roger and PJ for organizing another great gathering! I know you were a little stressed at first, making sure your boat was fixed and in the water. On the bright side, it all got done and the delay gave us the opportunity to meet Bob from Catalina Yacht Anchorage who had a couple of his mechanics on the dock fixing issues on other boats and making a parts lists for repairs upon our return. I was impressed.
Lucky and I stuffed ourselves with lobster on Saturday and now we'll have to eat rabbit food for weeks in order to get our cholesterol levels back down to a dangerous level. :crook We met new friends, visited with old friends, ate, laughed and had a wonderful time. Put us on the list of attendees for next year!
I'll post some pictures this evening.
Thank you again!!!

Thanks Roger and PJ for this great tradition! I had a great time Friday and Saturday morning. I wish I could have done the whole thing. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Just downloaded a few more pics from the cruise.

Boy, whatever the nerds did recently (could be the new server!), the photos download in record time...about 30 seconds for 4 photos, used to take 4-5 minutes for 1 photo (same camera, same size photos). Thanks!

Hi guys,

I have tried three times uploading the pictures with no luck.
I have even tried uploading one photo, and it did not work.
The pictures I have a JPEGs, so if anyone wants them let me know and I will email them.

Also if anyone has any ideas about uploading, let me know that too.

Islander-

I've had both superfast results and some no-go's!

The server seems to load up really fast, but if your files are too big (too many pixels or bytes), it won't take them at all.

As we've discussed before, you have to downsize the file size to get them accepted.

I had to put them on a free photo hosting site, then copy them onto my computer in the downsized form, then transfer them to my album.

For posting on a thread, they can be copied over from the hosting site with just the address.

Joe.

Roger,

Well done cruise and barbecue. Finally found me a mate that's the near perfect companion, and that everyone else seems to enjoy as well.....Muffin!! We both had a great time. Monday to Thursday camping in the Sierra's....Saturday & Sunday on the water in Santa Barbara.....can't beat it.
