10/12 - 10/14 - Santa Barbara Seafood Festival

Roger,

Looks like we'll need to reduce the 'mouth count' by one for Sunday. Miles has volunteered for the "Day of the Child" to be a big brother for a foster child on Sunday, Oct 14th, an admirable event for sure. He will be with us Saturday though.

Steve- Do you mean Oct 14? Good for Miles. We'll miss him at the Dinner.

Reservations are made :D Thanks every one for returning the cards in good time.
Pat, S.B. Harbor, said it looks like we are growing. The first year we had just enough boats (6) to qualify for the race packet reservations. I reserved 12 slips this year.
Looks like we will have the end of Marina 1 again this year :thup
John- I requested a slip closer to the gate for you.

Hope the weather holds- it has been great out on the pond lately.
Just wish I could have been out more :( Fishtales will be getting her belly massaged Monday- new gell coat below the water line. All of the repairs have been completed. :thup

Hey Roger,

Good news, schedules have changed for the better! There's a possibility I'll be able to make it Friday for the Painted Cave cruise. 1st question, you are "gathering" at 8:00am Friday at Chan Is Marina, when do you plan to leave, 8:30? Secondly, do you think they'll be a problem that I arrive one day early at the SB Marina for an additional overnight?

Steve-
Great news. We hope to depart the Channel Islands Harbor soon after gathering together. Would like to beat the winds.
No problem on arriving early. You will be required to pay when you activate your gate card.

The winds here have been a hinderance in completing the work on Fishtales. Hope to be in the water this week.

Thanks Roger, hope your boat gets finished in time, fingers crossed... I just finished torquing the bolts on my re-sealed lower unit, started it, all systems go. :thup

Hi All..... I am sitting in our cemetery office....I found a signal for my computer and ya take what ya can use....Ha... The neighbor across the street from my house went on vacation last week and turned his power off....darn him...I lost my internet connection...

Anyway.... I am still in the mountains.... I told the folks at the donut shop that I would install a new heater for them about 4 weeks ago...and I ordered a nice wall unit from Grangers... they were out of stock so after a week they ordered a unit from their warehouse in Illinois.... it still has not gotten here...hopefully today or tomorrow....

My plan is now.... I will install the heater... then ride my motorcycle the 600 miles home..... I think I can talk Matt my son-in-law into getting the boat out of storage and washing it.... I can fuel it up on the way to Channel Islands and be there on Friday morning.... hopefully...

See Ya Soon

Joel

I will launch Thursday evening also. Anybody up for dinner at the Whales Tail? Roy...do you think you and Lori will be there soon enough for dinner?

Chris - I'm not sure what time we'll get there. I'll check with the crew tonight. We sure enjoyed diner last year. I think we'll check in with the harbor master again this year and get a guest dock for the night.
I'll keep you posted.

We will be there Thursday evening, not sure what time.
We will need to load the boat, since it is still on blocks at this time.

The trip to Painted Cave looks a bit iffy at this time---- weather modules show a 20% chance of rain Friday (doubt it) with 15-20 knot winds gusting to 25 in the channel.
The winds come around Point Conception and along the inside of the islands, making for a rough (but do-able) crossing in the channel. We can avoid most of the wind by staying within 3-4 miles of the coast, we will be protected by the point, getting better the closer we get to Santa Barbara.
Shows clearing and better conditions for the rest of the weekend.
A marine layer settled in about 0800 this morning with 1/2 mile visibility.
We'll be watching the weather and make a decision later, favoring the less experienced in the group.

edit- Painted Cave is in an area that would recieve a lot of wind, making it hard to anchor.

OK....I am here...I got a call from the shipping company.... they could not deliver the heater until Friday..... I went out and located a contractor ...he will pick up the heater at my house this weekend and install it early next week.... (It's just money) I just could not miss the Santa Barbara trip...

I rode my motorcycle home yesterday....600 miles took me 11 hours....(lots of stops for butt relief)..

Today I am getting the boat out and cleaned up....

Dinner on Thurs??? Sounds great !! Count us in...what time ??

I made some amazing finds this summer doing my Archaeology work.... I now know all about Ishi and the last of the Yahi Indians.... Sue wants me to write a book..... I probably should... but anyhow... I have lots of storys to tell...

See Ya all this weekend...

Roy-- Don't know the status of Fishtales, left message - no answer yet

Joel-- Great - yer home. Can't wait to find out what you have found

We will be there tomorrow night to load the boat and spend the night, just don't know what boat as yet. Hope to be able to meet for dinner, not sure what time. I'll call and find out where when we get there.

Roger

Roy figures they will be there around 7:00-7:30. I'll have a slip at the guest dock which includes parking for the truck. At least it did in years past. So I'll boat on over to the Whales Tail which has a dock. Anyone staying in the parking lot can boat over with me if they like.

Not looking to bad- we'll see. Bring rain gear- might get some rain.
We should be there by 8:00pm easy, we'll head on over to the Whalestail.
I think there is a good chance of seeing some blue whales on the trip.
