10/01 - 10/03 - Sequim Bay Fall Fling

I know this is way early, but...with the Shasta gathering being talked about for early October, at least one of us doesn't want to miss out on Sequim, which has been held about the same time each year.

Does anyone care if we move Sequim back a couple weeks this year? I was thinking about 9/17 - 9/20; since this is after kids are back in school, I'm hoping this is late enough where the state park is still uncrowded. As those of you who have attended the last couple years have seen, we pretty much take over the dock, even doubling up on occassion.

I posted this over in the Shasta thread as well, but thought I'd put it here just to make sure the new and regular Sequim attendees see it as well.

How about some feedback from our Sequim locals? Whaddya think, Jon and Cynthia? Is late September too early?

My only concern about moving the date up a few weeks is: Are we bumping ourselves out of crab season by doing so? I just checked the ODFW website looking for the crabbing season dates, but couldn't find them. Don't know if they haven't set them yet or it's just my inability to find them. Anyone care to comment?

My only concern about moving the date up a few weeks is: If it is moved to sooner in the year, it might not qualify as the Sequim Fall Fling. The Sequim Late Summer Soiree has a nice ring to it, but if there ain't no frost on the dock, it just won't be the same.

It really doesn't matter to me, timing wise. The Blakley and Sequim gigs are musts for us, and probably the only two trips north we get this year. I'll try to make it any old time for those. A couple things will be different for those two trips this year. First, we are hoping to go a bit futher north for a week or so after Blakely. And as for Sequim, we are planning to NOT buy another boat while there.

Well, yes, asking Jon and Cynthia is great, but that starts to back up right tight against Langley, which last year was the weekend right after Labor Day - so you better ask Roger too...come to think of it, what is wrong with going out two weekends in a row? :D You come up here, get a two-fer! Langley is great, those mussels and clams and Ben's show at the Boat Harbor are not to be missed!

Man - should have known better than to mess with tradition. Somebody slap me...

In my selfish little world, the best solution is to do Sequim 10/1 - 10/3, then hit Shasta on my way home from 10/8 - 10/10 while Les is still there.

Is there anyone who doesn't like these dates? In particular, is there anyone who wanted to attend both gatherings, but wouldn't if they were this close together?

Now these are the problems I can handle in life. :D Personally I like Sequim in October sometime, but I'm easy.

Just don't anyone say the three letter word... F :moon G

Hey Jon,

By then you'll have your new Ratheon radar -- fog not a prob. Gonna keep that upstairs apartment you now have?

Holy Lights Out, Batman, FOG! :bat
Don't worry, little buddy, by then our three-lettered friend GPS will arrive to tame Notorious F.O.G.
Hey, don't nobody poke fun at the See-Loo Saucer. Without it, I'd still be out there, whining that I have no friends. And Da Nerd, up here tradition means much. October 1-3 it is, because Cynthia insists.

And this year, I'll look into reserving the lower group campground, that way those little rascal Boyscout's can't rain on our parade. They took our campfire spot! :cry

Thanks for the early planning. Was going to put in for vacation in late August or early September, but now will make it for the beginning of October and hit both of the bashes :!: The Fall Fling and then down to Shasta :P :!: when these dates get firmed up, we'll mark our calendar and make arrangements. Sounds like a great time. can't wait. Of coarse I need to pass this by the other half.

Hi Jeff and Diane, I hope you guys can make both events. Bring your Dungeness Crab appetite to Sequim Bay, I think there will be plenty to go around.

If it's the foggiest idea you're looking for it will be just like last year and us Columbia River bunch will never leave the dock or will only go from one side to the other. No sub chasing for us OR getting lost in the fog. The only difference this year is that we may not let the cat out of the bag.

As mentioned in an earlier thread, there will be a very cool, very special C-Brat item bearing our new logo making it's debut at Sequim. I'll make sure and order/bring enough for everyone who's signed up for this gathering as well as Shasta.

These goodies will be about $15-18 each, for those who want them. My guess is, everyone will want one, but there's no pressure to buy...I've no doubt I'll have takers for the leftovers once they are announced here.

And no, these aren't T-Shirts, caps or mugs...truly unique, and sure to be a huge hit.

Am I building this up too much??? Dang - one would think I was in sales...

Well, you sold me. What a knockout logo! Put me down for two cases. Wait a minute. Buster needs a pedicure and another truck load of Fancy Feast, and Bambina needs a GPS. Make that two blue.

Oops. I'm in the wrong thread. Sorry, it's just too foggy on this one.

We're planning to come to the gathering in Sequim, but we probably won't make it until around noon or later on Saturday. I haven't seen any reservation info, so I'm assuming that slips are first come, first serve. Does anyone think it will be a problem if we're not there until Sat. afternoon? This will be our first trip there so I don't know how much space they have.

We'll be leaving from Sequim up to Victoria and the Gulf Islands for a week. Any advice on great spots to check out would be appreciated.
