Sequim has one dock - we'll almost certainly take it over, and possibly be 2 deep for some folks. And yes - first come, first served. There are also a couple mooring bouys as I recall.

This late in the year, there will probably be very few, if any other boats there. Last couple of years we've either had it to ourselves, or shared it with 1-2 other boats.

Here's a pic from last year's gathering - looks like there's room for roughly 10 boats on the dock.

The slips are at John Wayne Marina, but the C-Brats will be at the State Park on the dock, like Bill says. Gulf Islands, only been there once, but can recommend Conover Cove on Wallace Island highly ...

Good idea. This year I've planned a tidy little jaunt through the park where we'll study plants, observe birds and talk to squirrels.
 
Ok, here's the scoop... I finally got Mr. Ranger to let me reserve the entire group campground for Friday night and Saturday night.

Friends, this mean we will have access to approximately 8 camping spaces, a huge campfire area, bathroom and a covered picnic/cooking area with several tables. The group campground is within about 50 yards of where the dock is.

Now, by renting this area, we'll try to get as many vehicles in behind the gate so Mr. Ranger doesn't nail you for another $5.00 bucks a day(vehicle parking).

Moorage is around $10 a day (first come first serve) and there is a small fee for launching at the State Park (5.00 ?) John Wayne Marina is much nicer to launch from and it is also located in Sequim Bay.

I will gladly supply the firewood for the weekend and as far as the potluck goes, how about Saturday night again?
 
Good going on the campground, Jon - not that the dock alone was all that bad last year. As I recall, tow rig parking was somewhat limited at the State Park, and if we all tried to launch and park there we would have had a big mess - correct? I for one am opting for John Wayne again this year, hope (a) I get there in daylight and (2) it isn't too foggy - it takes about an hour to go the white knuckled short distance at 0.5 mph from John Wayne to the State Park in the dark and fog (trust me on that one). Also - a suggestion - those that arrive first - PLEASE keep at least one VFH on-board or portable tuned to 68 to reassure those of us who may be coming in late and need some help or reassurance!

Thanks Pat. Yes, you are right about to many folks launching at the State Park. There isn't very much parking at all for boat trailers and vehicles, although with the group campground this year, we might be able to squeak three or four trailers in that area.

It's that time of year again to fire up the Wallas stoves, so with 20 plus gallons of fuel in the garage, I'm willing to part with 10 gallons.
We got a little carried away when they had Klean-Heat on sale. I'm pretty sure this is the best stuff you can buy for your stove, so for $5 bucks a gallon I'll bring some to Sequim if anyone needs any. We paid anywhere from $4 to $7 dollars a gallon for it. PM me if you want a gallon or so.

And for some not so good news. Dept. of Fish and Game shut down shellfishing (That includes crab-area 6) last Friday. So you can leave your crab pots home this time. This is the first time the season has closed before December.

Not that I could make it anyway but a fella can dream.... but without fishing it sounds like a bad dream....
I haven't caught nearly enough fish this year....

Of course I am afraid to venture that far North without a new tow rig... Look what happened to Tyboo not to mention the new love boat....

It sure sounds tempting though especially if Catman is the Cruise Director.... Get him a haircut and a spiffy blue yacht style jacket and pass the Grey Poupon.... :lol:
 
OK, looking at a Road Atlas (not generally favored for navigation, I know), it looks like it would be a fairly short trip to Sequim from a launch in Everett - shorter than the drive and a heck of lot more fun...So, is anybody planning to boat to Sequim from some place farther away than Port Angeles? Particularly from Everett? Safety in numbers? Say a mid-Friday afternoon launch, between 3 - 4 pm or so?
 
We're planning to cruise up to Sequim from Sandy Hook (South Whidbey), but want to start early Friday morning. Anyone else heading up from Everett/Edmonds/Mukilteo around then? We'd love to cruise with company too!

Fred, I should hope not. It was reported that Mr. Fisherman was surprised to find you such a fickle mixture of fuss and fury. I mean, considering you're so well-mannered on the Brat Channel.

Still, we'll be monitoring your behavior carefully.
 
Say, does anyone remember that guy from Arlington; loves red, fights fires, nice family, wears life jacket on land, carries safety manual in back pocket of Levis, tank top in winter. An abstemious sort.

I wonder if we'll hear from that guy again.

I'm here! It looks like we'll be missing Sequim again.....major projects at home, Jessica's birthday weekend, High School homecoming, etc. "too many things, too little time" :disgust .

Hey, Two Lucky Fish, I might be interested in cruising from Everett early Friday morning. Not sure, though. I'll have to see what the weather report says late next week.

It would be a pleasure to cruise in the company of Bambina. Our departure is weather dependant as well - let's connect Thursday night and figure out what the winds & waves are doing.....
