Maybe we should plan a Badin Lake gathering later in the fall?? Lots of National Forest shoreline and King's Mountain Point would make a super central point. We hold the Uwharrie Mtn. Festival there in October. http://www.uwharriemountainfestival.com/ Plenty of hiking/bike trails if anyone wishes to stretch legs.

Maybe I should start a different thread... if so let me know. The National Forest Service owns that whole side of the lake. There's a National Forest Campground just a stone's throw from King Mountain Point... literally. Lots of folks just park and walk down trails to various spots on the lake to camp. Some really great locations.
Carol and I are thinking about putting the Intrepid in and beaching at KMP for the festival. Blue Grass bands usually play through the afternoon and evening. We have a few pix in our portfolio... boat of course, beached there.

I tried it...not sure if it worked or not... but the Doc said the resulting pinched nerve should be all healed up by the end of the month. Guess I shouldn't have tried those Patrick Swayze/Dirty Dancing moves.

OK not sure WE want to know just what you did... :roll: I'll take your word for it that it "might" have worked..lol. Try a nice glass of wine..that should help with the aches and pains.. :cocktail . LOL You do know that Dirty Dancing was uh...some years ago right ?LOL

I am a bit concerned that I didn't officially finish the dance, and according to my ancient book of weather dances (passed down from great grandpa Astaire)...it may snow somewhere near the coast that weekend.
BTW...I'm a beer kinda guy.

Re: Largest ever C Dory gathering.
When we started the C Dory Chesapeake gathering, nearly five years ago, we heard that the largest gathering up to then was about 26 boats, somewhere on the left coast. Our maximum here , i think, was 30 or 31 boats, a couple of years ago. So, I think the NC gathering is surely the largest ever....and that is great.
We are shooting for 50 next year, just because it is our fifth year...and we hope to attract both C Dory and Ranger boats.
We feel the success of these gatherings is because of good location, a laid back, but well planned weekend, and the leadership of the people who put it on...All those are certainly present in the makeup of the North Carolina gathering...
We up here wish you the best..sorry I can't make it...keep us informed.

LOL I'd just about pay to see that Larry ! I have strong doubts about Patrick wearing a ladies tank top ! I just hope you guys don't get slips side by side no telling what would happen ! I'll have to talk to Ashley about keeping you on seprate docks.. . LOL See ya'll soon yippee..!

So, lets get serious people. I've got a gathering to go to and I need to work on my boat. Can't go a big city (Oriental) with a dirty boat. Don't need to worry about it here in Mills River. We only have one policeman and he only
works 8-4. I'm serious.

Carol says T-shirt... for both of us. Now y'all know why the gathering is on the east shoreline and not in the mountains! (not that our organizers couldn't have gotten salt water up there for us!!)
