09/24 - 10/02 - Lake Powell 2010

We had another fine week at Lake Powell. The weather was perfect again, like last year, and the water level was just about the same. Fish were tougher to find than last year, but with a fish finder and some local knowledge from reading and asking questions I got plenty for me. I've still got a couple pounds of it left.

Well, Jeff, the fishing was NOT what it was last year (when I was just a spectator), but I was NOT skunked...

Five fish, pro rated over my Utah 7 day license, makes them just about $6 each!
 
The Powell gathering was great again this year. We enjoyed visiting with all the old friends, and meeting some new friends. Sorry not to have made it to Oak Canyon for the main attraction. We did miss seeing the people who didn't go on to the Escalante. Fishing was generally spotty. I did catch a nice Catfish uplake in Ticaboo Canyon after the group returned downlake. We have a new addition to the crew of Discovery. Rusty, a Yorkshire/Brussels Griffon boat dog.

Two Bears (Chuck and Penny) and Constant Craving pulled into Dungeon Canyon as we were starting back to Wahweap and found C Cakes towards the back. We settled in for a nice potluck, then took a few photos as a storm moved around us.

Two Bears and Constant Craving took a side trip up the San Juan arm, and spent the night at Cha Canyon. A short hike up the stream took us to an interesting flat with lots of both ancient and modern rock art. This is my favorite...

Very cool pic. I had no idea so many C-Dory's would be in attendance. I might have to think about joining the group next year. :thup

Hi Chris & Terry,

Those are supah photos you posted, thanks. Terry you're quite the photographer, with that camera you bought on sale, good job.

I really enjoyed cruising with you guys. You took me to highlight scenery by boat & hikes, and provided wonderful camaradarie at all the anchorages you found to fit so many C-Dory's.

My trip out to Lake Powell was everything I hoped it would be, thanks to you guys, El & Bill, Chuck & Penny, Patti & Barry, Casey, Jeff, Steve and all the other whacko west coast C-Brats. It was really special.
