The 6th annual Mississippi River C-Brat Gathering will be held again this year at the Alton, Illinois Marina, just up river from St Louis.

As always the event will be the weekend following Labor Day, this year that is September 10-13th, 2015.

Tex and Sharon on "Bixby's Cub" and Ken and Pat on "Pelican" will organize and host the event again this year.

For those that did not make it last year, this is one of the finest 4 star marinas on the river with a swimming pool, 2 hot tubs, private showers, and covered boat slips. There is a nice casino right next door.

The largest lock on the Mississippi as well as the National Mississippi River museum is just a mile downstream.
Also in the area are other museums, zip line courses, winery tours and wine tastings, the St. Louis Arch, a haunted house, Lewis and Clark historical sites, and a McDonalds.

We had a great time last year with good fellowship, interesting stories and fun side trips. We are working on some new events and side trips for this years gathering.

Meet new C-Brats, renew old friendships, learn new thing about the boats and places to cruise.

Be there or be square.

More info will follow.

I'd love to come, but school starts Sep 1, and I'll have to see if bus drivers can get any personal time off that early in the year... :-( Colby

We're in!

It's pretty early to predict what will actually be happening, but after missing 2 yrs
(with Carpy) it's a lock on our schedule. We have a rendezvous with my antique boating pals for a cruise on the Tennessee River the following week. I'm not sure how the road/river travel will balance out, but barring catastrophe we will make both. Of course we will try to maximize the water travel.
Looking forward to seeing the Alton/St, Louis environs, we haven't been on that part of the river. It sound like a great time.

Tex, thanks for posting the announcement of the 6th annual Mississippi River "Meet In The Middle" gathering.

I want to extend a great big thank you to the participants of last years get- together and all those who sent in pictures of the event. A special thanks to the New York gang, (Terry, Bob and Jay of the Last Dance) for supplying and cooking the meal on Friday night, a great job guys. Another special thanks to Les & Kel (Intuition) for taking pictures of all the C-Dories by the Arch in St. Lewis. A great photo souvenir for all boats.

Alton Marina is located at mile 202.9 LBD on the mighty Mississippi River. (N38 53.035, W 90 10.592)

Reservations may be made by calling 1-618-462-9860. Docking fee is $1.30 per foot, (1.00 if a member of Boat US) with a $30.00 minimum.

We will all be together on the same transient dock which is really nice for checking out each others C-Dory.

The crew of the Pelican (Ken & Pat) will provide coffee, juice and pastries Friday morning for all the C-Brats in the bar-be-que area.

More details to follow.

Great news! Both Jan and I felt bad about missing last year's gathering, now we have the 2015 dates etched in stone and are so looking forward to seeing all the wonderful fellow C-Dory owners that we met in Dubuque, Iowa.

Tex and Ken, please let us know how we can help. Lee and Jan Murray (Tully B)

More info on the Mississippi "Meet In The Middle" Gathering.

For those who will trailering to Alton, The Alton Marina has a boat launch, secure trailer storage, gas pumps and ample vehicle parking.

Alton Marina also has a laundry room, wireless internet, satellite TV connections, convenience store and charcoal grills.

I was remiss in my last note that I neglected to thank Rob and Mary McClain (Freedom) for the pictures they sent in of last years gathering. Rob and Mary worked their way to the top of the Melvin Price Lock and Dam (with the lock master permission) and took pictures of all the C-Dories locking thru. Great job and thanks from all the C-Brats.

Ok, for now I'm planning on my wife and I coming down with Midnight Flyer to attend this event, arriving late Wednesday night, or sometime Thursday. My employer has a policy of no personal leave requests approved during the first two weeks of school, and school starts Sept 1. I'm hoping to get an exception and will plan on that for now. :-) (The bus should be able to find it's own way around on the route by then! :-) Colby

Hey, Mississippi River Brats

Chuck and Penny on "Two Bears" from Idaho will be joining us this year.

They have a thread going titled Upper Mississippi River.

They are planning to come by boat down the river from Minneapolis to Alton for the gathering.

I have posted up some tips, but some of you have much more time on the upper river than I do.

So jump on their post and add any of your favorite things to see and do on the way down from Minneapolis.

Man O Man Tex from Texas has another GATHERING planned for the Mississippi and you bet the old Arkansas Cotton Choppers will follow Tex from Texas as the way opens. Last year we cruised for 14 days and 798.6 water miles down the Mississippi and up the Arkansas River to Little Rock, AR.

After the gathering we may point "Falcon" north, up river.

When you say 'jump on their post' concerning "two Bears" and the thread is ' Upper Mississippi River ' can you coax me on how I do that . If I am able to complete a purchase on a 25 cruiser I would be very interested in the "st.s run" from st.paul to st.louis .My wife and I last did that in 1994 right after the big flood of 93 and would be interested in making it again. As we live in St.Charles,Mo.we would trailer to St. Paul and come down. How do I contact them ,thanks Jim Lefers

Good Morning all, I have been following the post for the gathering and I am sure looking forward to being there. It has been awhile since we have had a new post so, I thought that I would get one going. To the planners (Tex and Ken) what would you like for Jan and I to do to help? Two gatherings ago we furnished pies and Tex made ice cream that we all enjoyed on a sand bank on the mighty Mississippi, what a great time it was. Jan and I would be happy to repeat this if you guys are interested in our doing so.

Question for Ken, are you planning on trailering to Alton or you going by boat? A great day to all. Lee on the Tully-B

The crew of the Pelican (Ken & Pat) will be traveling to Alton in the near future to finalize plans for the gathering. We encourage all who will be attending to give us your ideas and we will try to get them included. There are so many options for food and events it is hard to pick out just a few things. We will absolutely have a day trip on the mighty Mississippi, assuming the weather is not real nasty. Here again we will have several options for a destination.
Thanks to Lee and Jan of the Tully B for their offer, we may just take you up on your offer.
We will advise all of the schedule of events when it is available.

Looking forward to meeting new C-Brats and seeing our C-Brat friends from years past.

ken & Pat (Pelican)

Lee, in answer to your question, we will trailer to Alton. We are hoping to leave Alton for places unknown after the gathering. Last year we left Alton and continued down the Mississippi to the Arkansas River and took it to Little Rock. A great trip. We were in the company of Bixby"s Cub, Falcon and part of the way with Little Bit. We have not decided what we will do this year. Too many choices.

Ken and Pat (Pelican)

I'm kind of wondering at this time, how many others are planning on coming to this gathering? My wife and I are planning on trailering down to Alton, and joining in the festivities. Not sure if we'll get in Wednesday late night, or sometime Thursday. Then leave Sunday morning. We're game for whatever as far as cruising a day trip on Friday or Saturday. Colby P.s. I did send a msg earlier to the Marina to reserve a space, but never heard back from anyone there.

Count us in! We are looking forward to going to this gathering again this year. We haven't decided if we are boating to Alton or trailering yet. This year we want to leave enough time in our schedule so that we are able to go with if others want to go on another river trip after the gathering.
