We are not active "C-Brats", but we live in Guttenberg half of the year and have a 2006 TomCat.

We just brought it via water from Sarasota,Fl (what a great trip).

Anyway, just thought that we should touch base. It would be great to attend your gathering in Sept. What do we need to do to participate?

Hello Dennis & Susan,

Everyone is “very” welcome to attend the National, Mississippi River, C-Brat Gathering & Reunion, with or without a C-Dory.

We anticipate that some followers of c-brats.com that do not own a C-Dory (yet), could show up for the festivities, camaraderie and at the same time learn more before buying.

I suggest that you sign up as a C-Brat and then sign up for the gathering (see “Event Signups” button under the C-Brats logo).

This sign up (early as possable, as soon as you know that you are going to attend) is a very important aid with planning etc.

The cost is $25.00 per person, which includes a T-Shirt and the Saturday evening Bar-B-Q Rib banquet.

We get together on Thursday and Friday evening (last year some showed up on Wednesday), everyone is welcome to bring whatever snacks they choose to share.

We do meet for breakfast each morning (only if you want to), everyone is on their own each day (typically each days plans are made at breakfast with individuals and groups heading out in all directions).

We do have a scheduled (group) cruise on Saturday to the Hawkeye Marina (27 miles down river) for lunch (and impromptu boat show, more about that later).

If you are attending the gathering without a boat, we will figure out who you can hitch a ride with for the Saturday cruise.

Even though Connie and I furnish Ice Tea, Lemonade and Coffee, this is a BYOB event.

Yes, there is a considerable variety and volume of some “pretty fancy” beer that shows up (we furnish the ice, coolers etc.).

Along with everything else we have a “LOOT” table, where anyone (only if they choose to contribute) may bring any item/s they want to donate. The “LOOT” is “split up” after the banquet (we draw boat names, a crew member can come forward and choose any item from the “LOOT” table).

Just a note: We continue to draw boat names until all the “LOOT” is gone, then we have fresh baked pie topped with (good old Iowa made) “Blue Bunny” ice cream.

Also, we will have a “For Sale” table, all we ask is that each item be tagged with the owners name and the buyer and the seller make their own deal.

Hopefully you have figured out that everyone gets together to enjoy themselves and have a great time.

We look forward to see you both is September.

Best regards,

Ron, Connie, Bear & Dolly Fisher

Just finished a phone call with Julie at City Hall. She took my Master Card number over the phone and we are set up with the same slip as last year.

We will arrive on Wed., See everyone there.

I recently invited a CD-16 owner who wants to sell his boat, to bring it to the National Mississippi River C-Brat Gathering in Guttenberg, Iowa (September 8, 9 & 10) to show it off and maybe find a buyer.

Expanding on this; This could be a great idea where a note would be added to the “C-Dorys For Sale” listing (on c-brats.com) that the boat will be in Guttenberg for the Gathering (if not sold by the time of the Gathering).

Considering that there are so many people around the country that follow c-brats.com, (and could be looking to buy), having a “central meeting place” could/would be an advantage by saving time and miles.

This “central meeting place” could then put buyers/sellers together that may not have otherwise considered traveling even greater distances to find each other.

If notified I/we would also make a note (to the National Mississippi River Gathering thread) that a particular boat (if not sold by the time of the gathering) will be at the Gathering.

Hopefully interested parties would be contacting the sellers in advance to make their meeting even more productive.

Regards,

Ron, Connie, Bear & Dolly Fisher

Hello from Guttenberg Iowa,

We just approved the new ( 2nd) National C-Brat Gathering logo (the art work/graphic will change every year).

I know it may seem a little early, but we are starting plans for the September Gathering and need to know how many are coming with each boat and their T-shirt size/s.

If not signed up, but intend to, please do so right away to help us with planning.

Best regards,

Ron, Connie, Bear & Dolly Fisher

C-Brat Event

Hi Ron,

We are very excited at the prospect of your group coming and spending time in Dubuque with us. We have a wonderful website for them to browse in and get lots of ideas for their visit here – www.traveldubuque.com. It has all of our attractions, restaurants, parks and highlights of Dubuque and local events happening during the time of their visit. If anyone is interested in having us send to them our complimentary Visitors Guide ahead of time they can make that request right from the website.

Should you need additional information please let us know. Julie had mentioned that you would be needing around 50 Welcome Bags. Is that still the number or would you be needing more? And would you like me to send those to you and how soon?

Thanks for all your help!

Just noticed the period (.) following the first www.traveldubuque.com. confused the connection.

The lower one www.traveldubuque.com works fine (no period).

That's what I get for not testing/editing before cut & paste posting.

Ron Fisher

PS: Including our CD-16, there are already nineteen (19) boats signed up (so far).

Hi, All,
I was wondering if any of you that are going to Guttenberg might want to float down from St. Paul? We were thinking of leaving our rig in a marina parking lot in St Paul and either go back up by river or renting a car and bringing the rig down to pick up the Dory. We were also considering going on over to N.Carolina to their gathering afterwards. If interested please chime in.

Great news, the 2006, 255 TomCat (Sarasota, FL) now listed “For Sale” on c-brats.com is spending it’s summer in Guttenberg, Iowa.

Dennis & Susan (owners) will be attending the gathering, If you are interested in seeing this boat, maybe even trying “Lucky Enough” out, give Dennis a call (941-400-0817) and/or come on over to the gathering in September and see C-Dory’s of all sizes.

Maybe even a 19’ from St Louis if not sold by then.

We've got our reservations and are looking forward to this. FYI I'll have my USCG vessel safety check info with me and will be happy to do safety checks on anybody's boat.

The following invitation was just posted on Tug Nuts.

Dear Tug Nuts,

Hello from Guttenberg, Iowa,

This is an invitation to all Tug Nuts to attend the 2nd National, Mississippi River, C-Brat Gathering & Reunion, in Guttenberg, Iowa (September 8, 9 & 10).

Why not include Ranger Tugs, we are in the middle of America with few opportunities to meet others who have C-Dory’s let alone Ranger Tugs. Why not meet together at the same place and have a great time.

I suggest that you sign up for the gathering (see “Event Signups” button under the C-Brats logo).

This sign up (early as possible, as soon as you know that you are going to attend) is a very important aid with planning etc.

PS: Maybe next year it's the National Mississippi River C-Brats/(Ranger) Tug Nuts Gathering, in Guttenberg, Iowa.

Expanding on the idea/concept of “Meeting in the Middle” of the country, welcoming all C-Brats, those considering a C-Dory in their future, Tug-Nuts etc. is shaping up very nicely.

For those interested and want to compare various C-Dory models and lengths, might consider attending this year’s National Mississippi River Gathering in Guttenberg, Iowa the second weekend in September.

So far C-Dory’s that will be showing up is a 26’ Venture, a 255 TomCat (which is for sale), various years of 22’ Cruisers, several 16’s and maybe, just maybe a 19’ coming from St Louis if not sold by that time.

Regards,

Ron, Connie, Bear & Dolly Fisher

Hello Tex & Sharon,

Yes, just a month to go and already 20 boats are signed up for the gathering.

I have been contacted by a few others that have not signed up yet, will be interesting to see the final count.

We as a group want to promote the idea of C-Brats “Meeting in the Middle”, where everyone is welcome to come have a great time, boats that are for sale are also welcome along with those looking to buy a C-Dory.

By the way, I have ordered great weather for this event.

Best regards,

Ron Fisher

Tex & Ron,

Janda & I, plan to leave on Monday for St Paul. At the present we plan to take a week before the gathering and float down to Guttenberg. We've had no one interested in joining us or contact us, so we'll come on down alone. Any way that's our plans now. We'll decide later how to return. It sounds like it's going to be great fun.

See you all soon,

Lyle & Janda on See Saw

Be sure to take the day trip upstream from the marina in St Paul and lock up and over St Anthony's falls.

Also the Segway tour of the historic district in downtown Minneapolis is a hoot.
If you have never driven a Segway, you need to.

Recently I invited a CD-16 owner who had listed his boat for sale, to bring it to the National Mississippi River C-Brat Gathering in Guttenberg, Iowa (September 8, 9 & 10) to show it off and maybe find a buyer.

Expanding on this; This could be a great idea where a note would be added to the “C-Dorys For Sale” listing (on c-brats.com) that the boat will be in Guttenberg for the Gathering (if not sold by the time of the Gathering).

Sellers could make a note (to the National Mississippi River Gathering thread) that a particular boat (if not sold by the time of the gathering) will be at the Gathering.

Comments?

Regards,

Ron, Connie, Bear & Dolly Fisher
