I like SUSAN'S 27.

With the apostrophe in that position, it means Susan IS 27.

SUSANS' 27 would mean it's HER boat...

Charlie

We must have taken a different grammar class. The latter rule only applies if we're talking about plural Susans and to my knowledge (and I'm sure to Susan's knowledge), Tom only has one Susan.

In my grammar class, "Susan's 27" could be the possessive or a contraction (the 27 belongs to Susan or Susan is 27).

Best wishes,
Jim
Agreed. But Susans' 27 would imply plural Susans correct?

You guys remind me of my one armed english teacher in texes ( she would not tell us how she lost the arm so I firgures it was at the Alamo) . When ever I asked if i could go to the bath room she would say " I dont know can you?" My reply was " I can , here or in the bath room down the hull, choice is yours" Then I would just walk out.

Now back to
BOATING.

Yep. And I know this stuff 'cause I are an author... and just finished an editing project for two other authors'. 8) Ah, the fast-paced, high stakes world of word-usin'.

And now back to our regularly scheduled thread: wish we could join y'all in LaConner - this workin' stuff gets in the way of my time off. (So, what were those apostrophes doin' in there?)

Best wishes,
Jim

I'm pulling the boat out at Bellingham to have the engine serviced and the start of the new camper back so I will show up Friday afternoon in the RV What is the name of the RV camp ground near the harbor? Maybe even the phone number. Thanks-Jon

Here is the info for the camp ground right in the marina area. short walk to the dock. pretty basic but clean. susan and I walked thru it the other day to check it out.

Time for a update on the weekend.

1. Friday is show up and have fun. Dinner is your own affair. I do know that Washington sips and wine bar live music on Friday night. Mike the owner has donated a nice bottle of wine for our prize stash. Also the prime rib house has a band friday I think but most definitely on Saturday.

2. We will be serving scones and muffins on the dock for breakfast around 8am.

3. The tour of the tug factory will begin at 10am. Should last about 1 to 2 hours.

4. Crabbing should be best on saturday from 1 to 4 pm. this is from low slack into the first two hours of the rising tide. I will not be taking the 27 out as susan needs it around to prepare for the Pot luck on Saturday at 530 up at the covered bbq area. I can show people on maps where they can go> I know two really good areas. One north and one south. If some one has a open seat on a crabber i might be talked into going if we get back by 4pm.

5. I have a lot of good prizes to give away after the pot luck including but not limited to bottles of wine, books, wobbling drinking glasses, t-shirts, a fleece, float plane ride, and a free bottom paint.

6. Lots of places to drink or listen to music in town. I will be going down to listen to some of them.

7. Sunday is breakfast in town at 730.

After that you are all on your own. Susan and I will be headed to firday harbor sunday after noon to catch a movie that night. Then off to Canada monday morning.

See you all there.

Is the La Conner Rendezvous going to held this weekend? If so,from when to when, and where? This will be my first rendezvous. Are there any gatherings or potlucks planned? Thank you! Jeanie on Sparkle Plenty

YES and all the important info is on Page 10. I know because I just went back and read the whole thread. At the Laconner Marina Friday to Sunday. Hope to see you there.

PS: There is some good stuff on the other pages too.

jeanie. Hi and welcome. yes everything is on page 10. Glad to see you coming. Did you just get your canvas done there in La conner? If you did Lee from Lee's canvas is giving us a great canvas care kit for our pot luck give away. See you on the water.

Trust me, Big Susan is just wrong in so many ways. You will live to regret it.
Since Susan's initials are SEE, Ann sugested " SEE-C ".
Just a thought.

THe naming of the 27 is coming down to one of us just giving in. I like the idea of "big susan" because the boat is bigger and susan thinks its cute but I just get a bad feeling when I say it and others just give me a look like " glad hes not my husband"

Then there is the Susan e square, which I have name tags for. and we both like it but we dont love it.

susan does not like susan e 2 and neither do I really.

I like " susan E" and there is no current susan e so that will work but some say "well that was your last boat"

So for now or until we come up with a really neat name we both like its just the "27" . you cant rush these things.

Due to having to work today we will be getting a relatively late start likely not being able to put the boat in the water at Port Townsend until ~ 1600 or perhaps a bit later.

Due to the current NOAA forecast calling for Small Craft Advisory for the East entrance to the Straits of Juan de Fuqua we will need to head south then up the east side of Whidbey Island instead of the much shorter and more direct run across the Straits.

The NOAA forecast for Admiralty Inlet and the waters east of Whidbey (Saratoga Pass, etc.) are much more favorable luckily. The winds over there are currently forecast to be coming from the north / northwest.

Do any of the folks familiar w/ the waters east of Whidbey have any anchoring suggestions if needed assuming we ran out of light or otherwise?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Take care,
Dan & Tanya on C-Renity

Well, I can't help you out about anchorages specifically but Edmunds and Everett marinas both have good transient docks with fuel, and food nearby. Langley has both docks and anchorage, I believe. Coupeville has one long dock. Further north there is Oak Harbor and Cornet Bay, both with dockage, but neither of which I have been to by boat. I'm sure others will present more places and greater detail.
Have a great time this weekend.

Hey Marty! Hope you are well sir.

Sorry we won't have the privilege of your company this weekend.

Thanks for the suggestions. Thought Oak Harbor looked like a likely anchoring location but we have never been in there either.

Dan & Tanya on C-Renity

You can tuck in to langly harbor and anchor close to shore if the wind is up. After that its just finding a bit of beach out of the wind and anchor in close for a break. We have done it a lot while crabbing or shrimping.

Why not just launch at cornet bay instead?

Tanks for the tip on Langley Tom.

We live in Quilcene over on the Peninsula so Port Townsend - which we have an annual launch and parking permit for (i.e. Jefferson County) - is our best option unless we wanted to drive the truck and trailer over to the east side of the pond.

Take care,
