06/06 - 06/08 - Annual Chesapeake Bay Gathering

Wow! Seven states already represented for our June gathering...
I have a feeling we will have over 30 boats (already 18)...so let the good times roll...
Again a reminder: if you have attended before and want to suggest some changes, please let us know.

Glad to see this is shaping up so nicely!! Liz and I are trying to keep the calendar clear so we can join in a post-Lankford cruise. Count us in for now, Tom.

John, please sign up at the top of the home page. I need some current info from you for this year (have old info from past attendance) and will send you a PM or e-mail to gather it! It'll be great to see you again!

Charlie

well i think i signed up? i"m not to comp. savy. anyway i"m in if you"ll have me.already marked it on calaender, sounds like fun.........john

And then there were 20!!!

Welcome to hunk e dory from Lovettsville VA, Bluecrab from Chestertown Md and IT-C-BIT-C from Pearl River NY.

I need some info from you for our spreadsheet attendance list and I'll e-mail the request or PM it to you.

Signing up is not a firm comittment to attend, we always have some folks with conflicts at the last minute or just show up!! Helps to have a count though for the food and stuff.

Don't forget to call the marina for a slip if you need one.

Charlie

Charlie, got ur email & tryn to help u out with info / but how do i answere ur questions??? thanks in advance..........john

I'm going to have to hire a crew to make the crab balls! As I count it, we are at 22 boats, and it is only February. Maybe it's the food, maybe it's the music, maybe it's the red hots from the Upper Tier of New York State, who knows..but we know it is the friendship , the relaxed atmosphere and the fun...as they say on the 'shore..."y'all come, ye hear?"

CHARLIE, i tried to send u back info as per ur instructions but ,it would not let me type next to questions? im probably doing something wrong.won"t go that far im my boat, but my buddy dan and i got a wellcraft 233 for free.needs a motor ,but is not in that bad of shape .if business lets me get enough time off i"d like to take it down by water. if not i will drive.will make that choice asap, can u give me a little more time on ans. BTW-anyone in say southern ny or north jersy going by water ?interested in crusing our boats down together.i"d also be happy to take a coupple of stowaways from the area in my boat as im pretty sure i"l be headin down solo,---------john

John,
Our plan is to meet up with some friends in Cheasepeake city and heading down to Lankford from there we will be in Soapy Joe and they have a 25' C-dory. I think there have been some folks that have come in the past from the Philly/New Jersey area by boat, that may chime in.

John, take all the time you need. I'll call you on the phone if need be when I need the info. If you send me a phone number, do it by e-mail or PM, don't post it here!

Charlie

I am really on the fence about this years trip. Running all the way up and back will be a fortune if gas is at the projected levels for June. I am in Houston now and industry analysts here say that regular will be $3.75 by then. That makes marina fuel at least $4.50 per. Last year I burned 100 gallons total during the 5 days. Ouch!

Our little committee met yesterday here in Rock Hall.

Some points to note:

Volunteers. We need some people to help on Friday and Saturday..things like guiding people to launch site, marina, terraplane's cabin, place to get ramp tickets....also help at registration desk,

Poker Run: we are going to give it a try...Saturday...maybe 10am to 1pm.
It will be non competitive run, and not long mileage (gas). We will need four volunteer boats to act as stations.

We plan to have a few prizes: Poker Run, Boat coming longest distance, oldest boat, newest boat, and special awards. We have already gathered a few prizes..if you can pick up somelthing for us, write here and let us knkow..donation from West Marine, anything.

Friday night: Pot luck...we provide soda , ice, paper products, etc. Bring a substantial dish to feed some people.
Saturday: Poker run, lounging around the pool, talk, possible Chestertown run, Rock Hall trolley tour. Saturday night : we provide dinner...Terry's dogs, hamburger, chicken, and we hope to provid plenty of our special crab balls.
SPECIAL NOTE: THE LOCAL WATERMEN DO NOT PREDICT A GOOD RUN IN EARLY JUNE FOR HARD CRABS. iF THEY ARE AVAILABLE THEY WILL BE LIGHT AND FEROCIOUSLY EXPENSIVE...SO, WE PLAN TO DITCH THE HARD CRABS THIS YEAR..

Send Charlie your t shirt order.

We will have music, but more informall, kind of sing along format..and of course, the kazoos!!!

Sunday: We hope to have a cruise. If you are interested in that let us know.

All,
It is with great regret that I report that my wife and I will not be able to attend the Chesapeake gathering this year. We had a wonderful time last year and met some wonderful people. C-Dory people are the very best!!

We plan on taking our cruiser through New York, up the Hudson and across the Erie Canal about the same time of the gathering.

Jack and Jeanne from North Pole Alaska

OK folks, it's about 3 months until the great Chesapeake Bay Gathering for 2008. Thus far we've got 22 folks signed up, some without boats yet but that's fine! Lots of newcomers this year which is also great!

We've got lots of boat types represented,

CD25's
CD22's (they're like rabbits)
one TC255 (so far, mine!)
one CD16 (Sea-Esta)
one Rosborough 246
probably one Ranger 25 (if Terraplane has his way!)

In past years we had a CD19 Angler owner and a Ranger 21EC (Boat and owner) Hopefully they'll sign up this year too: (C-Run (Robbie) and The Loan Ranger (Don) respectively)

There are still 50 (50!) folks, the great majority with boats, that have attended one or more of the first 3 years that we haven't heard from. When we get to 60 days and counting, I'm gonna start pestering them to come!

I'll post the current attendance list which will include unhighlighted lines of folks that have attended in the past but have not signed up yet.

"I would guess, there is a chance, on that weekend in JUne,
That Sally's Sister, renamed, might register, soon...
With a happy couple, down from St. Michael's way
New to C Dory's, and ready to play...

That leaves old Terraplane up on the dock,
Like the old mariner, feeling just a bit on the rocks
but maybe, with luck, a bit of a plan
He will weather being shore'bound and set sail again...

Navy hull, tan trim, more room than he's known,
A head, by gory, the cedar bucket stays home!
Hull #52, all shiny, and rarin' to go
Her name? Well, maybe BANJO, come see, then you'll know"

We'd love to have all C dory and Ranger people sign up...we have some fun things planned, and Lankford is one of the most beautiful spots to spend some time...Y'all come!

Wonder what that sounds like on a Kazoo!! :?: :D

Charlie

Kazoos are ordered...T shirt design being contemplated...food plans on the way..music all set..I think we are now at 23. Great...I know of at least two more who are definite.

Here on the Chesapeake we are waiting for Spring to spring. Cold, damp, Bay weather...a good time to sit by the fire, or the Wallas!

terraplane

Tom, on the T Shirt design, the last two or was it 3 with the CDory on the back were just great and always result in favorable comments when I wear mine (almost wore them out). My motto is if it works, don't fix it...... just my thoughts :bat
