06/06 - 06/08 - Annual Chesapeake Bay Gathering

Charlie,
The overnight in the Patuxent sounds great...I have been in St. Leonard's many times...sometimes playing chromatic harmonica for Vera's White Sands...sadly she is gone now....
Let's make a plan..of course, wx,wind, wave all make it flex.

EL and Bill: I will play for sure, especially if we can have you guys there to sing along...

Terry: I know you don't write on this site, but I know you read. Are you coming? You and Byrdman on a cruise with us would certainly add to the enjoyment.

As Charlie says, sign up early..it both reassures us and helps us plan.

Pat...oh come on...pack up a duffel and a case of your brew and just surprise us.

C'mon folks. Sign up at the top of the page. I'll use this to make nametags and attendance lists.

5 right now. We've had 25-35 in past years, looking to break the record this year!

Charlie

Glad to see everyone is so excited about the 2008 Gathering. This will be our 4th Annual and we may break the record. We will have a meeting sometime in February to brain storm. Have some fabulous ideas already. This is great opportunity to get together with other C-Dory owners and wannabees.
Anyone interested in helping, just watch for notice of when and where for the meeting. It is usually in Rock Hall - Mainstay.
If you can't make it to Maryland, just PM Tom and give him any ideas, concerns or volunteer to help out at Friday or Saturday arrival.
Start practicing on those kazoos!!
Can't wait to see everyone. We have made come great friends!

Will you be trailering up or coming on the water? If trailering, i have room for about five rigs on my field at my house, which is about a mile from the marina.
You will enjoy the gathering...great people, lots of fun, food, and a wealth of information from the "veterans" who have had these boats for a long time..

Tom, "The Fran Sea" plans on attending again this year, and unlike last year, we'll bring the boat and need to park the trailer. This year we expect to bring a friend along, so their will be 3 of us.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again :smiled

Please sign up Patrick & Donna Cator (Donna Marie). It will be our first time to this gathering. Can you give us some info on the marina. Do they allow pets, kind of docks, is there parking for our rigs, etc.

Patrick

The Lankford Bay Marina has fixed dock's, minimal tide, plenty of dog walking space and a pretty good sized gravel lot for parking. The County Ramp is a couple of miles from the Marina, but the Town of Rock Hall has a Shuttle Service to Town. When you launch your boat you have to have a launch permit we borrowed the Marina's. If we can work this into this year's schedule we are going to spend at least a week or more. The crusing seems unlimited, but it took us over nine hours to drive up. Hope to see you there. Larry

Last year I think i just had to say "first come first served" re: parking on my field. It used to be larger...i've built a house now on part of it, so i'd guess, with clever work, i could get five rigs on the space...so, let's leave it that way, if there is room, you are welcome.

There is limited rig parking at the ramp about one mile from marina...and the marina will let some of you park ther..When you reserve your slip, ask

Charlie,Keeper of All Things Important and Recordable (KATIR) will no doubt be chiming in on things...

Don't know if we will cruise the Jeanie P all the way down the Potomac and then up the Chesapeake to Rock Hall. That's about 190 or so miles and I'm not sure my wife wants to stay the weekend plus take off work for 3/4 days to transit.

I'm up for it and the plan may be for me to solo on the water and my wife drive the 2 hrs to you. She can then drive back.

Seeing that there's a limit on parking, I'll leave the trailer spaces for those coming further. Worst case I can use the ramp at Sandy Pt. and leave the rig there for the weekend.

Patrick, you gotta sign yourself up! Go to the top of the page and click on Event Signups. Select the Ches Bay Gathering and join it. That will put you on the list. Info on the marina can be found HERE

You need to call for a slip reservation.

I will be gathering information in a couple of weeks concerning arrival times, need to park in Tom's field, etc, etc. as I have done during the previous three years of the gathering.

Charlie

I will check out all available parking (at the local ramp, Lankford Bay Marina, and my house...and give a total number of spaces....will do sometime next week.

Charlie -
Don't forget we have the plastic name tag holders and lanyards from last year. You only need to type up the names/boat names on the tags and we can put them all together. Should save a little money that way.

Tom/Charlie: Read this fast as getting ready to head out to Seattle now, but, I would like some space in Tom's yard or someone's as to leave my towvehicle and trailer while in the area. I will be up from (flexible at the time until some other info is available)...about the last week in May thru the end of the C-Brat follow on cruise that develops.

About 3 weeks worth of time.

Charlie: See you in Seattle.
Tom: Go ahead and come on down for spring run...

Charlie and all others...you are all welcome to come down. Let me know of interest.

Going to the Maine Boat Builders show 14-16Mar timeframe, so antytime after that and end of Apr is nice cruising weather without much heat and/or humidity, and the ealier, the fewer insects too!

thanks for the link to the marina. I called yesterday to reserve a slip. I was the second C-Brat to reserve a slip although Barbara had no info on the gathering so she couldn't give a group rate.

She remembered last year and said the fellow who handles groups is out but would be back next week.

I figure the rate will be adjusted later.

Allan

Alan,

When you call back to Lankford, next week, ask for John A. He is the one who handles us each year.

I live less than a mile from the marina, so if you have any detailed questions, feel free to ask.

Terraplane (aka Tom)

Tom
I'm not really concerned about the reservation, since Barbara took my credit card number and put me in the book. I figured sometime between now and June, they would reconcile paperwork and apply appropriate rate.
Thanks
Allan

Alan,

You must have called shortly after I did. Agree with your comments on rate, they have always been excellent to deal with and I am sure we will be charged properly when we check in.
