06/05 - 06/07 - Chesapeake Bay Gathering

Thanks Pat.
Charlie:
Going to be a little interesting on Friday. Earlier this week it looked like Friday was going to be clearing out, but now it is going to be more of a challenge.
Good luck on your voyage up the Bay. We will be crossing as weather permits.
See you Friday.
Bill

In all fairness to Pat, he and Patty had just flown in on the red eye! Of course a few bottles of National Boh may have had something to do with it too. Lots of us slept well that night.

We tried marching with our kazoo band one year but too many folks kept running into things!

Looking forward to a great time!

Charlie

Well, RATS! Just heard from my doctor. I was scheduled for shoulder surgery next Tuesday, carefully set to miss the CBGT. I had the pre-op tests on Monday, including an EKG. Mr Dr said the EKG shows I have had some sort of heart event, most likely a "silent" heart attack recently. My last EKG was in 2006 and it was normal.

While she didn't forbid me from going, we are concerned about being out on the boat 120 miles away with some possibly rough weather. She scheduled me for a Stress Test a week from Friday but my daughter is a Cardiac NP in a clinic in Northern VA and she does these all the time so I think I'll try to get up and get this done sooner.

Sorry everyone, the boat is ready to go, the dog is set up for the doggie hotel and other than my damn heart, I'm ready to roll.

At least the nametags were sent to Langford last Friday so they'll be waiting for everyone. Please hoist a few for me, at least I can still do that here too.

regretfully

Charlie

That's a bummer. Was looking forward to meeting you and seeing your boat.
But you gotta do what's best.
Take care.
Bill

Charlie,

Sorry to hear they are holding you down, we will miss you. I sure will hoist one or two for you at the gathering. We will go back to Pa. for church Sunday AM. We are having an outdoor service at a county park. We will be next to a lake. We will put you on our prayer list, I suspect that the water will reflect our prayers directly to GOD.

A lot of people will be praying for you and I know HE hears all our prayers. Hope you will be back on the water soon.

Fred, Pat, and Mr. Grey(the cat)

PS I may eat an extra Red Hot in your name just to give
you extra power!

Sorry to hear the news, Charlie. We will miss you and Sally very much. We will keep you in our prayers also.
Too much of a distance to take a chance.

The weather looks wet for the first couple of days, but weekend looks like it might be nice. Especially not as hot as in last couple years!

Remember all the festivities are in the Pavillion under a hard roof. These C-Dorys are not afraid of rough rainy weather!

Everyone have a safe journey and hope to see you soon.

Doug & Anne

Thanks for the thoughts. Have moved my stress test up to tomorrow, my daughter who is a cardiac NP in Northern VA is going to do it at her clinic. So I should know something sooner.

Fred and Pat, I know Mr Grey won't wear the nametag I made for him but at least show it to him. I got his kitten picture off of what I think was the first or second gathering album. Bet he's grown a lot! :cat :love

You all have fun, I'm gonna go work out on a treadmill tomorrow and try to prove them wrong!

Wx looks OK for Sat/Sunday, small craft warnings up for the Bay tomorrow, we'd have had a rough trip up....There's always next year (that's what I said last year!! )

Charlie

Sorry we will miss this gathering. We had so much fun at the Oriental, NC one last fall and really wanted to see the Chespeake. A new business venture is gobbling up our weekends, but at least we are on our C-Dory, The Interpid, all the time! www.fishbyte.net Thank goodness we bought the 19 footer as we trailer it to a different lake or three every week.

Hope everyone has fun. We will not miss the NC Gathering!

This just posted on the Tug Nuts site. Gratitude Yachts will be there!

I told her to bring an R21 too if they have one in the water. I'm gonna really miss being there!

Well, mother nature has the last word... As of the current weather briefing we will not be able to safely fly into the area until midday Saturday, or later... The radar shows thunderstorms and hail widely through the area... I am most disappointed at not being able to meet everyone and in touring the boats...

I do have two Tee shirts ordered... Drop me an email - ad4hk2004 a t yahoo dot com - with the price of the shirts and the postage for mailing them and I will send off a check to cover the costs and give a mailing address...

Hi, Sorry we will miss the gathering this year as well. We'll be thinking about ya'll and all the fun we know you will be having ! :) Be safe and have a great time !

We'll have many more opportunities to prove this really will be our first adventure in our C-Dory. Last night while practicing with the Garmin GPS I realized there doesn't seem to be any charts loaded north of Norfolk, VA. I understand the launch ramp is not at the marina, and worry about finding the marina without GPS and a very poor sense of direction. We're arriving Saturday, and will stop at the marina before launching. Will accept any help available! Thanks so much.
Chuck and Betsy

Hi Charlie,
Sorry for the beaching. You made the right decission. I have already
been there and have the 'T-Shirt'. I, too, miss not being able to make the
run that far north again to see all the fine C-Brats... and the food.

The gathering I did make a couple years ago had 3-4' following seas at
we traveled north to MD and on the return we had 4-6+' following seas.
We saw some green water as we had to come about a few times and it
was not fun. I felt safe, but what a ride. That ride is not what need now.

Maybe after this WX cycle subdues we can meet somewhere. There are
abt 5 other CDs in the Norfolk area now.

I regress. I pray you studied hard for the stress test and laid perfectly
still for you pictures before and after the test.

Thanks agn for the offer of the ST6001. We will have some prayers sent
up for you and your family.

Art

We can't pass up the opportunity to see so many c-dorys at once so, while we are landlocked, we will be stopping by the gathering.

Of course, no one is probably reading this as they are all out having fun on their boats!

We are hoping to buy Lake Effect and will be looking at it Saturday morning and hope to make it to Rock Hall by Saturday afternoon. If anyone is there and willing to spend some time introducing us to your amazing boat, we would be more than grateful!

Courtenay and Mike
(future c-dory owners)

Chuck and Betsy, you know by now I didn't make it because of medical problems. Was up in NoVa all day doing a stress test. Anyway, hope you didn't drive up today, heard on the radio on the way home of a 15 mile backup at the bay bridge. If you're coming tomorrow, should be fine by then. Someone at the marina will surely have a handheld gps that you can use or someone will go with you, it's not far and not hard to find.

Hope you have a great time.

Courtnay and Mike, sorry to miss you at the gathering, hope you make it and hope you get your boat. I'm sure someone will take you out, if I were there, I would.

Art, thanks for the nice thoughts, I must have studied hard enough because things were normal, I'm pumping at 90% on all cylinders which, they say, is pretty good for an old fart like me!

Sure will miss being there...Dragonfly, we'll miss you guys too!

Charlie

I just wanted to thank everyone for showing me (SeaRay guy) your boat. It was a rough ride up to Rock Hall and back to South River but it was well worth it to see all the c-dory there.

Charlie,
I guess I will have to come down your way to see the Tomcat. Glad to hear that you pass your stree test with flying color. Thanks for the name tag.
