06/02 - 06/04 - Lankford Bay Marina, Eastern Shore

I don't do crabs, I think Tom will be asking as it gets very close so that he can go get them fresh if they decide to do that again next year.

I do need to know when you're coming, and leaving whether you have marina reservations, need the ramp or parking in the field and whether you want T'shirts and what sizes if you do. Also need to know number of adults/kids/pets (dogs, cats, monkeys, etc.)

Charlie

Thanks Charlie, I found it but your "blue" thing er mer gig didn't lite up, but I found it down blow on "Jump to" (documents).... Thanks

Also, I have a reservation for the weekend at the marina... other then that everything looks ok for our listing..... :bat

Thanks Roger. Fixed your listing. You might want to buy one of those automatic life jacket thingies this year and not wear your glasses on the pier....

Now don't someone ask me what I mean....

Sure look forward to seeing you this year and the rest of the C-Brats!!

Charlie

The committee met yesterday . Good meeting.

Yes, we will have a t shirt for sale...$15. Get your order in to Charlie asap.
I will ask if it is possible to have some kid sizes available.

We decided the format for the weekend would be pretty much the same.
Arrival on Friday...
Cocktails and Pot Luck dinner about 5:30 on. For the Pot Luck dinner, please plan on putting something on the table ...it can be a main course, salad, hors d'ouevres (sp), dessert...(if the reader of this is the husband, please alert spouse...since last year we had some surprised wives who had no idea they were to provide something.)
Provide you own libation...we'll have ice, coolers.

Saturday ....side trips by boat to Chestertown, Rock Hall, Kent Narrows, or just exploration of ChesterRiver. Conversation and sharing boat knowledge all day. Visits to boats to see what others have done. Pool time, good talk. Possible mass picture of all the boats.

Dinner: We'll have crabs if they are running...We'll survey a little later to find out how many of you desire crabs. We'll have other stuff for the non-crab group.

Music: Terraplane will "preview " his Cherish The Waters cruise music...and we'll have a couple of other musicians there.

Sunday...wind up...those who will be leaving for several days of cruising will meet to discuss itinerary. It is likely that people will have different ideas...If you are "research minded" you might want to look at these ideas
l.Cruise of Choptank River...one of the longest rivers on the Bay..over 70 miles...deep...almost to the headwaters...50, 60 feet. Mostly uninhabited...beautiful.
2. Inner Harbor of Baltimore, and Annapolis. Both great places to see. Would require slips or mooring fees.
3. Down the Eastern Shore...stop at Miles River, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, then around to Tilgman Island, then up Choptank to Oxford, and Cambridge...

Charlie is our key connection on this..so please be sure to keep him informed of your plans.

We here are all excited about our "2nd Annual" gathering..Hope you are too!

Ooops..Forgot an important thing.

We will ask a contribution of $20 per person (it was $15 last year). This covers all of our expenses...a long list of stuff....Hope this is ok with everyone. We'll gather that on Saturday evening.

Great Plans Tom!! Yes I've got Pat's Tshirt order. Don't know if you can get his XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL though, I know you'll try. If you want to know why, look at his shot as an Elvis Impersonator on another thread.... :cry

We've got 27 boats, new ones keep popping out of Cutter and I keep inviting the new owners, hopefully some of them wil/can come!! I will mail/PM all those that came last year and have not signed up next week, am heading down to the River for a few days this afternoon, got to get my Stbd engine lower unit replaced or Captain's Choice will not be going anywhere!!

For all, please review the Excel Spreadsheet in the Documents Forum and send me missing information. I will also e-mail/PM those that either cannot look at it or otherwise missed it next week to fill out all the details. We will be posting info on how to find the place to buy a launch permit (Toy's Outdoor Store) and how to get to the ramp to launch for those that need one.

Getting close. Wish it would warm up on the Right Coast!!

The June gathering committee , Lankford Bay, will meet tomorrow at 10am
This is your last chance for input on anything you'd like to see happen at the June gathering. We will be in touch here after our meeting to let you know any news.
I would urge any who are considering attending to NOW call for a slip reservation. We are now at 27 boats and John at Lankford Bay will soon begin assigning moorings, not slips. You can always anchor out, but there is no transport back and forth unless you dinghy in and out.

Best to all.

Tom
After reviewing the spread sheet I noticed several question marks concerning C-Rapture's attendence. Hopefully the following will remove them:
Number of people attending - 2
Names - Gary and Mary
Need for Ramp - No

Looking forward to receiving my boat and meeting up with other C-Dory owners at Lankford Bay.

Gary Palsgrove
Need for Field Parking - No

Charlie, put us down for two T-shirts (1 med and 1 large)

Great seeing everyone at the committee planning meeeting. This is going to be a great year. Charlie, good idea to E-Mail the people who came last year that haven't signed up yet. Anne will be sending e-mails to Mariner, Noreaster and Chesapeake Bay magazine. Hopefully that will get to people who don't frequent this site.

Doug & Anne

Gary, I'll fix the spreadsheet in a few days. Am down at our River place now  working on Captain's Choice and the current sheet is on the other laptop in Northern VA. Every time I get a change, I update it but don't post it but once a week or so.

BTW, Tom doesn't know a spreadsheet from a sheepdip :cry , he has his 12 year old daughter do his IT work for him. He's a great musician and general great all around guy but when it comes to computers he's in the stone age. Lucky to have him on here at all. When he does sign on, smoke signals go up his chimney.... [sorry Tom, you said so yourself... ]. Seriously, we all love him, just don't let him touch your computer. .. :crook :disgust

Will also take care of the T-Shirt orders for Doug and Anne.

Charlie is, of course, quite right about my computer skill. I still have not figured out how to put pictures on this site..I have a telephone conference scheduled with Valkyrie (Nick) to walk me through it..
My daughter , Sally, 13..is a nimble fingers on this thing. So, she rules.
I still use fountain pens, and yellow legal tablets...i don't know my cell phone number, never leave it on, lock my self out of my car regularly, have never interupted a telephone call because someone else is calling..have been called a curmudgeon, antique, fogey, old f--t., and have no plans to change.
Thank God for the "Charlies" of this world.

By the way, if anyone else plays an instrument, please bring it along...most of my stuff is three chords. The more the merrier.

Joe,

Glad there is at least one other out there ....

I took my 13 year old (i'm a late bloomer dad) to see TheRolling Stones last month, Baltimore...She is my 1st mate on my D.Dory too...she was amazed that Mick Jagger is in his 60's...like me. "But Dad, he is so young...and what a dancer..when you dance, i die of embarrassment"...

Kids.

Tom,

A 13 year old, lots of music and boating will sure keep you young. Tomorrow I will work on the name tags for the gathering. If I write my name upside down I will always know who I am.(What a sentence)
Fred

Fred, wait a little if you can. I'm still getting names, etc from folks. I'd recommend that you put a first name on it with a boat name underneath. Unfortunately some folks are better known by their "screen" names rather than their boat names. We can think on that one...

I'll send you a list either via PM or e-mail that will make it simple for you. Are you going to print them with a computer or do it by hand?

Charlie

Pat and Fred,

I agree with Charlie...the more i.d. on the name tag , the better, first and last name, boat name at least...

Any way the tag could be something on a string to hang around the neck? I never do well with the pin on things, and the stick ons don't last.

tom/terraplane

Have gone out with a PM to each of those I am missing information from. Reply either by return PM or via e-mail. I'll wait a couple of weeks and ask again from those that haven't responded. Some of you may have a browser with a pop-up blocker invoked and not even know you have a PM waiting. Check the menu at the top to see if you have "new messages"

We're up to 28 Boats right now and well on the way to a new record!! For those that can't open the spreadsheet, send me an address via PM or e-mail and I'll shoot you a paper copy via snail mail (USPS).

I will send PMs or e-mail to those that attended last year and have not yet signed up in a couple of days, or tonite if the muse strikes....

Got both engines on Captain's Choice running yesterday after fixing my stbd lower unit with Bill and El's spare. I'm ready to roll!!

Charlie

Just sent out Eleven (11) individual e-mails to boats/owners that attended last year that we have not heard from this year. If they all come, we'll have 39. I didn't include folks like WANDERER and HALCYON who will be touring Alaska and BEARH who I know is working and trying to sell his boat. Also didn't include Robbi and her sister or Pat and Patty, who have all said, sadly, they can't make it. We'll miss them all but will hoist a glass or mug in rememberance :beer :cocktail

Please respond and be sure to get a slip soon if you can come.

Watching a TV show now that includes a propane truck burning on the Ches Bay bridge in Annapolis. If that happens in June, I'll launch there and come by water!! :smilep
