Dear All Delta and Bay Extravaganza C-DOGs,
It is time to get pumped up and get your gear and vessels ready. This is our last update before the event, which happens just the week after next!
As previously communicated, we are still counting on nine (9) vessels, and fifteen (15) C-Brats. We are pleased with the turn-out, especially in this crummy economy, and we are looking forward to having a great time.
Kath and I plan to launch our vessel on Wednesday, about 10:00 AM, at Rio Vista. We will leave Rio Vista together as a group, approximately high Noon, on Wednesday, May 13th, and head down river to Wheeler Island.
John and Robbin are kindly hosting a BBQ dinner for everyone on Wednesday night at their Duck Club. Kath I am bringing the desert. Also, there will be a dinner show-up present for every vessel that attends the Wednesday night dinner. On Thursday morning, Kath and I are hosting a bacon and egg breakfast at the Duck Club for everyone.
There is no need for anyone to bring food this year for either Wednesday night, or Thursday morning. Everyone is to bring their own drinks though (both non-alcohol and alcohol) for dinner.
Everyone is on their own for breakfasts and lunches throughout the trip. Usually most of us go out for a group dinner every night. Please feel free to bring your own wine for dinner on Wednesday night, or host your own dock happy hour at any of our destinations.
We will leave the Duck Club Thursday morning after breakfast, in time to safely cross San Pablo Bay and make a 2:00 PM scheduled bridge opening at Petaluma. On Thursday night we might go down to Volpi’s Italian Bar (been there since 1918!), in the City of Petaluma, on Washington Street, for dinner.
On Friday we will be heading to Sausalito. We need to clear the Petaluma “D” street bridge by 8:00 AM, Friday morning. Channel 9 is used to communicate with this bridge. The C-Dory group will communicate on Channel 69, and also monitor Channel 16.
At Schoonmaker Point Marina, we will be staying on “F”: dock. Remember to line up on Day Marker # 6 on the way in, and out, of Sausalito. Sausalito is also a good place to top off your fuel tanks for the rest of the trip. On Friday night we might go down to the Sausalito Cruising Club for dinner. We hope to enjoy the music and show off our tattoos on Friday night!
On Saturday morning we will connect with M/V Tranquilo. It is likely that we may go over to Angel Island for a hike before we cross the Bay to San Francisco.
On Saturday night, we usually have a farewell dinner at one of the close neighborhood SF restaurants. On Sunday, we will leave at sunrise (sharp), and head back to Rio Vista. We should pull into Rio Vista around 11:00 AM, Sunday morning.
Regarding dockage fees, for Saturday, San Francisco, South Beach is the most expensive place we stay. We had to pay in advance for this marina $35.00 per vessel, plus a $100.00 group holding fee. The total charge per vessel for Saturday in SF is thus $46.00 ($35.00 + $100/9).
For Friday, in Sausalito, the charge is $1.00 per foot. For example, a 25 foot C-Dory would have a $25.00 dockage fee. Each vessel will pay their own dockage fees in Sausalito. Please bring cash for the Sausalito Harbormaster.
For Thursday, in Petaluma, the charge is $20.65 per vessel. We will send one check to the City of Petaluma for the entire group.
For Wednesday, at the Wheeler Island Duck Club, there is no dockage charge! At Rio Vista, the launching and parking charge is $30.00.
In summary, on Thursday, every vessel doing the entire trip is to give me either cash or check, for the amount of $66.65 ($46.00 + $20.65). Dinner Belle II will pay $20.65, and Tranquilo will pay $46.00.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday. If you need anything, or have any problems, please call me on my cell telephone (916) 799-0286.
Sincerely,
Jim and Kath
