A bit lumpy getting here, but the dock is full and the gin is good.
We got a bit of a late start today. Like Pat said....a bit lumpy so we decided to head into Eagle Harbor on Cypress Island and pickup a buoy. We had a nice dinner with a bottle of wine. Tomorrow We should be into Friday Harbor in the morning. Pat, we did not forget the Manhattan fixings

What a wonderful event! Thank you Barry and Patti for holding it and all the folks who came out. I had a fantastic time with you all thanks for your friendship. Kerri On is officially christened thank you Dave it was an emotional moment for me. More than I would have thougt. I put to sea pretty much right away as I have a dinner date Sunday eve and I enjoy the challenge of a low vis passage. I was in Roche harbor 40 minutes after leaving the dock. The hook is down and the heat is on. Kerri On is proving to be a great ship. There was leftover slop and current and she just swished on thru. Will see you all down the road. Thanks again for all the kindness. George

Thank you, Barry and Patty, for organizing another spectacular event in Friday Harbor!
Our time with everyone was great, Kim and I did not want to leave after potluck, but she had a 7 am flight our of Seattle bound for Dallas for work related business. We made Cornet Bay via Thatcher Pass in 1 hr 5 min through mostly smooth water, thank goodness we had the NW breeze pushing us. Some pretty good rain past Flat Pt. all the rest of the way.
Many highlights this year, our second FH CBGT, include:
Shrimping with Work Release, Great weather, meeting new folks and visiting with friends, checking out the Marinaut (Thanks Dave) , Rosborough (Thanks Merv), seeing Greg's "Speed boat racing."
We met a nice couple with that "C-Dory Gleem" in their eyes as they were walking the docks taking pictures Saturday afternoon. I asked if they had ever been out on one and they responded, "No." 2 minutes later were idling out of the marina and their smiles kept getting wider and wider until I thought they would burst. Needless to say, they are really serious now. It was really fun to share with them a little of what C-Brats Get Togethers are all about, good friendship and a love of boating in our excellent boats.
So many good memories of this year, too many to recall as I compose this at 3:15 am just before heading off to get Kim to the airport. Thanks to everyone and hope to stay the "whole time" next year!

We returned home Saturday so as get my son Todd to his SeaTac flight on time Sunday. Hope the heavy rain arrived after the food was served at the potluck!

Well, the rain held off through the end of the potluck Saturday afternoon, which as usual was fantastic, but then the skies opened up and the deluge started, and it has not let up yet as of 8 am Sunday morning. We were thinking of staying a bit, but now we think we want to just have breakfast and skedaddle back to Bellingham. Still, rain and all, it was great visiting with everyone!
Here is wishing safe travels for everyone headed out today. BIS Portal show the lowest winds of the day to be at 3 PM. otherwise 15+ in the general direction of home.
Good to get to see so many friends, sorry I missed some of you. Will plan for longer better visits next time.

wow, put the summer on. Left Roche at 0600, pea soup 100 yards viz. flat water, lots of current, made interesting gps/ compass nav review.
Gps locked up once, ( 0h no not now stupid) while restarting, got off my compass heading and .....you guessed it. 200 yard 360 degree turn at 10 knots Almost bad enough to need radar but not quite. Good practise on DR, gps and chart plotting to compass. when in doubt...stop! Canada cuatoms dude asked me a ton of questions, pretty poor phone, no instructions no cover from rain etc. pick up and ringy ringy. Dude's there. thanks for the great event. I bet lots of us have poor viz stories from today. George

Barry, another wonderful event. The weather magic is astounding. Lots of new folks to meet. Old friends to catch up with. It doesn't get much better.
We're tied up at Deer Harbor expecting to see the Susan E arrive with a boat load of seafood.

Wow, another great weekend with the C-Brats. Thanks Barry and Patti for putting together another great event.
We checked the forecast Saturday night and it was already calling for a Small Craft Advisory in the Straits Sunday afternoon. So we left the dock about 5:45 (which is still after Joe and Ruth leave. :shock
The fog was really thick all the way to Port Townsend. That radar sure paid for itself today. It's kinda spooky when the visibility is less than a mile and you're enveloped in whiteness; a great opportunity to build confidence in navigating by radar and chartplotter alone, using no visible land references.

Hey everyone,
We had a great time at Friday Harbor, seeing old friends and making new ones. Thanks Barry and Patti for a great get together. We left this morning at around 5 am or a little before (sorry if we woke anyone). It was pouring rain, soupy and dense, a little eerie at times but the gps, radar (although lots of scatter) and the marine traffic app (Thanks Barry) got us safely across to Washington Park. We were able to get out at the dock just fine but the water level was dropping fast and after we had the boat ready for travel we looked and it would have been a no go. We got home to Coeur d' Alene about 5 pm.
Thanks to Rev Jim and all the participants for the denaming and renaming ceremony of our boat. I agree with George that it was a little emotional, seemed so meaningful, even had the Snoqualamie Beer (product placement) involved. We felt blessed as we motored off in the fog.
We appreciate all of you that helped us with the fuses, Tom, Dave, Jim, Roger, Joe and Ruthie, and others; also Barry for the inspection.
Great to see so many Idahoans there. Great dinner with our new friends Leroy and Shirley from Victoria and always love the potluck and visiting.

Thank You Barry and Patti. This was my first Friday Harbor gathering and now I understand why it is such a popular event. Mike my brother whom came with me said he sees why I enjoy these events so much. He enjoyed meeting many of you.
We had an uneventful trip back to Coronet Bay. It rained all the way and was foggy but the water was flat so we made good time. The boat is at Cathy & Les’s shop at EQ to use as a demo for the Marinaut.
It is going to be a long wait until the Bellingham get-together.

Special thanks for including us and our equally "steroidally challenged" friends and big thanks to all for being so nice to Bella who is now a fully fledged C-Brat dawg.
We had intended to stay out and play some more but the prospect of another day of rain and the addition of another warm wet fur ball to the atmosphere inside the cabin insipred us to make a quick run for home and search out a canvas shop to provide cover for the stern. Hopefully we can get this done before our Desolation/Brougtons run in June July as it will absolutely guarantee that it does not rain at all during that trip.

We are home at Whidbey Island, tired and happy. What a great gathering, made possible by all of you. Patti and I always enjoy the opportunity to help this great gaggle of grumpy and gleeful geezers get together for a good time. We thank you all for making our weekend so nice. Now, as to the rain, some of you know that my back has been acting up and (excuses here) that prevented me from doing the full-scale weather dance so we had clouds and cooler weather but at least the cloudburst held off until the potluck was over. The potluck, as always, was really, really good. We were exceedingly fortunate to have so many neat gifts to present, courtesy of the factory and West Marine, (plus a few from generous brats. Four boats from Idaho, three from Canada, one from Colorado and lots more. We think there were at least forty boats in total as boats came and went during the weekend.
I made a big error in my thank you's during the potluck; while recognizing some I completely forgot to thank David McKibben and Pat Anderson who, for many years now, have very generously provided Snoqualmie Falls beer at all of our gatherings. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa Mea Maxima Culpa. So belatedly, thank you both. We appreciate your continuing generosity.

Thanks for such a great event! Leaving Saturday afternoon opened up a space for another boat (I left my orca balloon taped to the power pedestal!) and allowed me and my crew (Keili - photo in the FHCBGT album) to get home to our absent first mate!

You were "spotted" departing Cornet bay today headed to OH by a speeding Chevvy headed North to get the remaining wet clothes off the boat and to order immediate canvas for the stern half. Both missions accomplished.
Good luck with the housework and thanks once again for doing so much when you were both environmentally and physically challenged.
Just chowed down the remaining shrimp graciously donated by Tom with an accompaniment of Asparagus, Gnocchi and Pesto (and Vino of course). Can't wait to get back across the dotted line to Northern Washington where the shrimp are intelligent enough not to all get caught in 2 days, Eh!
