Do the slips have 120vac power?

Grovelling the Internet...they do last longer (3 days to a week, and btw, they are "foil" or "silver metalized" balloons, not mylar), but...cold air makes them shrink and raindrops on them add significant weight. They also are not biodegradable, and if they escape outdoors they can tangle in power lines and cause outages. A couple of sites I ran across would not recommend them in this scenario.

I hate to be a wet blanket, but my gut feel is that this isn't going to work out well.

I left one out on our deck after a birthday party and it lasted a few days of bad weather before loosing it's lift. The same balloon indoors in on its third week.

All the slips have 30A power and potable water. I just found five balloons at our local dollar store and am prepared to be visually insensitive.

About 18 hours until we launch for Friday Harbor. If anyone needs name tags for this event, e-mail or PM me ASAP with:

Boat name
Boat trim color
Captain and mates full names
Model of boat
Home port

See you there,

Susan called Kings market and they do not have balloons. Kings video does. They are on a differnet street. They will also fill your balloons with helium for the price of a ballon. Seems the ballons are .25 cent and the helium is what cost the most. We found a online site that will custom print anything on a mylar balloon but we did not have enough lead time to do it and you have to order 50, which would have be cool.

So, if we have all of H dock and G for overflow, why am I calling in? For an assignment? I thought in the past we just came in and you parked us, then we went up and registered and told them we were with the C-Brats. Why am I "calling in"? I don't mean to be dense but if I had not read this, I would not have called in to the marina. Do I need to do that to be directed to moorage?

No Pat, individual reservations are not required, we have all of H dock and overflow on G dock. To get our rate and be directed to that moorage ID yourself when calling in and actually registering in the Harbormaster's office.

I just checked on Mylar balloons. They apparently will stay inflated for up to two weeks so it should not be a problem to get them ahead of time. I plan to get mine at a Hallmark store here so probably Hallmarks stores in other locations would have them. Haagen grocery stores also have some.

OK Pat,

When I am coming in to a moorage I customarily contact the port/harbormaster/marina office to let them know I am arriving. If I have not made pre arrangements they tell me what slip I am assigned. In the case of the Friday Harbor gathering since we have the aforementioned docks assigned to us, they just tell me to head to our moorage area and to pick any open slip. I view this communication as a courtesy to the marina so they get an idea of how many are arriving before we go up to their office to register. There is no need for any Brat to call the marina today or tomorrow and seek a slip assignment. Just do it like you have in the past. Nothing has changed except my ability to clearly communicate. :)

Kathleen and I are so sorry for this late cancellation. The legislature and Governor require that she and therefor I remain here in Olympia this weekend. We will keep our eyes open for a gathering later in the year, in order to reconnect and spend some quality time with our C dory friends.

We wish you all smooth water and long sun breaks, great cold beer and endless jumbo prawns.

Kerri On is in Roche Harbor overnight. Be down after dawn Friday. Seeing a buddy here with the Grand Banks rendezvous. Busy weekend. Great weather today Barry thanks. George :smiled

Aurelia and crew will be at Port Ludlow tonight in case anyone else is looking for somewhere to stop for the night.
And, just saw my (Cindie) first orca (mom and baby) south of point no point lighthouse.

Looks like Barry's dock dance for the weather wishers is working. Also looks like SleepyC is still in the fabrication shop for the aft arch brackets and will be the same for the next several days. Also looks like I may have to make good on my promise to walk to FH this year. If so, I have the weight, may need a longer snorkel, and will bring a sack lunch. Oh, or if the winds are right, maybe a few dozen helium balloons might do the trick. Guess we will have to keep guessing and see what happens. You all travel safe, and hope to see you this weekend.

Sorry for the last minute cancel but I have the family coming into town tonight/tomorrow for the baby party and their is just not enough time to do it all. If I could clone myself, I could be in two places at once, but that seems difficult and expensive. Have fun, travel safely and may the sun remain out all weekend!

While I should be at home right now loading the boat for the trip, I'm stuck at work writing a grant. I'm going to be working on this #%#! thing for the duration of the weekend and sadly will have to cancel (AGAIN!). Have fun without me - I know you all will.
