03/26 - 03/28 - Jarrell's Cove

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO FOR COFFEE??? arrrg....you folks will be missed......Catherlametstan is just around the corner though

Looking forward to meeting you all there. Be on the lookout for the boatless people dragging a dog and a cooler behind them. Sounds like you all are pretty picky about your beer. We are homebrewers but unfortunately don't have a batch ready now. Oh well - next time. I hope we will be able to stay for the potluck, it sounds like fun.

I've got a huge pot of Eleanor's** World Famous Navy Bean Soup simmering away right now, it will be PRIME on Saturday night! Right out of the campfire scene in Blazing Saddles!! I am pretty sure there will be lots of other good eats, but anywho, we gots soup!

** Eleanor is Patty's mom, who taught us to make this wonderful soup...

Glad you can make it Roger. If it's raining like a pig tomorrow,we're going to hold off and leave early Saturday morning, no sense in abusing our heaterless selves.

What's happening with the Saturday night pot luck? I can't load enough fish on my BBQr to fill folks up.

Bring a tent and sleeping bags! Or do like Roger and Lisbeth and find a local motel...but however you do it, be SURE you are there for the Saturday night potluck!

And yes, we ARE pretty picky about the beer!

Hi there! Our original plan was to leave for Gerbil Cove Friday morning. The thought of 4 ft. seas and 25 mph winds doesn't get me to excited though. My wife (Helen) isn't the boating enthusiast that I am and she has never spent the night on a boat before. Sooooo.... I'm kinda picky about the conditions that I choose for her first night on the water. I want her to enjoy herself so that she'll want to go again. Anyhow, Friday is looking out of the question right now. I'll see how the weather is looking then.... If no improvement is in sight, I might have to wimp out.

Larry, why don't you meet up with us at Swantown. If your wife hasn't slept on the boat before, she probably would like the shore power in the marina for the first night. It's also walking distance from the restaurants of downtown Oly. Saturday's weather looks like it's going to be a lot better, and the sun may come out on Sunday..
Lyle

Looks like we'll be ar Swamptown about sun up on Saturday....it's supposed to be nice weather Sat & Sun, ya oughta come on up Larry...If we're going to be the only Columbia river representives, those Sounders may start throwing rocks at my boat :)

Larry -

By all means, go to Swamptown. Very nice marina, with clean facilities right at the top of the guest dock. Big slips, shore power, the works. And a boardwalk to crafty stuff. Our first annual South Sound Cruise consisted of going from the launch ramp to the slip and back to the launch ramp a couple days later. It is a perfect place for Helen's first boaterhoming sojourn, and the cruise from there to JC is very easy and nice.

To further enhance the experience for her, be sure and get all the fishing gear out of the head.

Did it rain at all up your way?

Okie dokey. We're leaving for Swantown in about an hour, should be there this afternoon. See y'all there.

B~C, I have a new gas bbq that I'll bring. It's a little one though.

We should be leaving Fall City about 3:00 pm for Joemma State Park to launch, will play it by ear, if it looks too rough we will go on back to I-5 and down to Swamptown as well. My guess is it will be a pussycat by 5:00 - 6:00 pm this evening and we will be able to proceed to Geraldine's Cove with ease...wonder if anybody will be there to greet us? If not, we will hoist a few to you all and look forward to the C-Pod's arrival in the a of m.

Us Right Coasters will be glad when you Left Coasters finally leave on this trip and are out of internet range. We're jealous of all the camaradarie (or however it's spelled!) Hope you all have a great time and catch lots of fishies. We're starting to do yard work here in Virginia and will put the boat in the water in a couple of weeks. Then I'll send you all the picture of the recent 63 lb. rockfish that set the record a month or so ago.

Give me a good Black Angus any day! (that's not a fishie)

The next couple of days will be quiet and then there'll be a barrage of post trip banter and pictures, hang in there, you can make it.
I suppose all this trip chatter makes for pretty dull reading. It sure is a fun time getting together and sharing boat notes. C-Dory keeps shipping boats to the east coast and someday you folks will will be burning up the bandwidth with cruise chatter. If any of you east coasters where to venture out west, I'm sure there would be no shortages of places to dry dock.

I wanna see the rockfish pic......remember, with all these political adds on the telly, get out and exercise your right to boat :)

Ken, it's not dull reading, it's GREAT READING. We're simply jealous. Will find the rockfish pix and have it posted for your return. Hope you all have a great time, I've got a weekend of yard work facing me and it just started to rain.....DARN   Mayhaps I'll have to take the cockpit cover off of Capt's Choice and reinstall the electronics and finish the new overhead handrail installation. It's nice and dry in there!

Hi All,
When I left the bunch at Jarrells Cove there were 13 C-Dorys and two VERY large boats tied up to the dock. Everyone was having a good time. They were all looking at each others boats and saying " I want that and that and maybe even one of those". A lot of new faces and boats that just fit right in like they were with the pub for a long while. Judy and I are going back out in the morning to have breakfast with them at Lenards in Allyn. The wind was blowing very gusty but nobody seemed to care. Looks like a lot of good memories in the making again for the C-Brats. Later Lyle

Alright. Lyle. Thanks for the report. How did them two brand new red CD's look? Did Dave and Bill even let you get close to them?

Mike, I'm still here enjoying the C-Brat site and living vicariously through the adventures of others. Les is continuing his "magic touch" with Sea Shift which actually has turned into a blessing for me, as there were really too many important obligations to attend to in Arlington this weekend. We are, however anticipating the christening of Sea Shift at the Lopez Gathering. :wink

Well, Dave, it's Les' own fault that he is so busy. If he would just screw one of those boats up just one time, he would have more time for the others. But nooooo - he has to keep improving on perfection and getting busier and busier. He didn't promise it in time for JC, anyway.

Now then, maybe I'll have to try to get to that Lopez deal in case there's a chance to see this:

If you don't see the SSSS at Lopez, please return to Rosario Strait and look for the three of us swimming across the Strait with the dog and the BBQ for Saturday nights potluck!

If you don't see SSSS at the Lopez fling look for my body buried somewhere...maybe next to Hoffa...'cause Dave'll kill me.

While there are a great many people who would like to see the Hoffa mystery solved, I'm betting the SSSS will be at Lopez!

Mike - make us an album for Jarrell Cove! I have a lot of nice pix! In the meantime, here you go, fresh off Patty's new Pentax Optio (a tiny little camera that fits in an Altoids tin, really!) from about 9:00 am this morning, Da New Da Nag at Jarrell Cove! Notice, if you will, the color of the sky and the calm reflective quality of the water! Today (Sunday) was PERFECT! It just doesn't get any better than this, including breakfast at Lennard K's in Allyn, WA.
