If you are waiting to go to a gathering......this post may be for you!

We intend to hold our 9th Annual gathering at Hontoon Island state park near DeLand Florida on March eighth to the tenth, 2022 Great time to get together with old friends and make new ones. The park requested that reservations be made online. They have a different vender and can be reached at the following link.

The St. John’s river has many miles of great fresh water cruising and side trips. Many past attendees have arrived early and stayed late. Most everyone launches at Ed Stone park on highway 44 but there are many other launches on the river.

Please be sure to signup on this site so that we can plan properly. Of course that’s after the administrator sets it up. I’ll be posting more next month but we wanted to get the dates out.

Administrator please setup a signup and photo album....Thanks

We are planning to be camping at the KOA near Ed Stone park, and we will tow our Caracal Cat, center console, since we no longer own a C Dory

Right on, right on!!

Slip 1A as usual, coming in on the 7th. $25/night....what a deal! Will be on the River before and after and will monitor channel 72 for Brat coms.

Bob...is there water access to that KOA?

Tom and Joyce....thank you so much for taking this on again this year. You guys are awesome!! As soon as Bill or Mike set up the group i'll sign up there and I assume you'll also what us to fill out a JOT form or whatever it is.....

Yes, there are transient day slips for the restaurant, and transient slips in the Marina. for those who are camping and bring a boat. Thus only one launch and retrieval, instead of daily launches.

Rosanne and I plan to be there with C-Traveler. Made our slip reservations for 9A some time ago!

Made reservation 4b Looking forward to seeing everyone Jim W

So looking forward to meeting some of Y'all in person. We are just getting used to our new 25 (working through list of names to be).

I just reserved slip 3A for the 8-10th... hope I didn't inadvertently nab someone's favorite spot.

Best

Carole and I will be thrilled to attend and looking forward to meeting up with some of you other boat nuts in March !

Photo of Hontoon Marina Slips. The park manager contacted me today and said the numbers of the slips are incorrect on the reservation web site. He was told they will fix them but they do not know when. These are the correct slip numbers.

See you at Hontoon.......Tom

Tom, I heard that there is a new reservation system. Since I reserved my slip last April, I did so under the old system. Do you know if there is a way to check to make sure our reservations were transfered over? I assume they were, or should be, since payment was made at that time. Thanks. Colby

My slip is 4A instead of 4B. The new system is different no showing of marina Thanks Tom for showing marina

Colby ....I called the new system and my old reservation was transferred over.
You may want to call them to be sure.
Tom

Colby,

There are pilings as well as docks in the area, so perhaps you should bring at least four spare props, since you banged up three props last year.

You're welcome.

John

Thanks John for your concern. Four now. That one that got destroyed on the Oklawaha River in March was sent off and repaired, and it found another tree stump a few days ago. Just bent one tip this time, but still too much vibration to continue using it. I'll only carry my usual two spares when I come down, so will just park the boat if I have to use both of them.

The latest Boat U.S. magazine has a good article on Cruising the St. John's River.

AW shucks, they didn't get Pancakes at the Grist Mill, Really missed Hontoon, Also a number of good restaurants, They only got as far South as Sanford, where as some of us have gotten as far South as the outskirts of Orlando (on the Econlockhatchee River)--did that one year, part way with Molly Brown--but repeat attempts have found the way blocked with weeds.

Ok, we’re 7A we’ll get to meet you folks in March.

Dana and I are coming! We will be in 6B, arriving Monday.
Since I have never been there , a little help please. Where is recommended launch point, and where do we store our truck and trailer? (Sorry, newbie questions here).
I’m looking forward to meeting ya’ll!

Ed Stone park just outside of Deland about 5 mi down river of Hontoon. Free launch and parking. Preferred parking for more than a day is along the highway side of the parking lot. I think all have been happy with safety at this park.

That being said, if you prefer secured lots, there are a few of those nearby as well but I’ll let others chime in that know those specifics.
