03/04 - 03/06 - Hontoon Island, Florida 2025

Yes 👍 We are going to be back at Hontoon in 2025

Here’s the news from Hontoon today.
I’ve contacted the NEW park manager this morning. His name is Dustin Allen. He says the water is receding and conditions are improving. The park should be back to the same conditions in March as last year so we will plan on March 4,5,6 2025.

They were lenient on overnight docking last year but with the new park manager there is no guarantee ether way. At this time plan on anchoring out or other marinas. It may be that they will open up slips by then but who knows.

I must for the first time fill out a state form for the gathering. I will do this and will get over to Hontoon as soon as they start opening up ramps.

We always have a great time and will again in 2025. Thanks for being patient and flexible. See you all at Hontoon.

I will be posting more details later.

All of us who attend these gatherings owe a lot of Tom and Joyce who have been the organizers of the Hontoon gatherings for about 12 years! Thank you Tom and Joyce!!!

We didn't make it because of health issues last year. We hope we will this year. The St. Johns River is a very special place. There is a lot of exploration, wonderful birds, vegetation and animals.

We'll be there! Rosanne has us planned to visit her good friends who spend a couple months in Gulf Shores, the last week of February. We'll be coming over from there this year, but only staying a couple weeks as I need to get back home around the middle of March. Looking forward to starting my summer boat travel season out at Hontoon! Perhaps you've already asked Tyboo for an event sign up. See yah in a couple of months. Colby

It was suggested by a C-Brat friend and confidant that it would be a great place to meet and look at many models Of C-Dory’s side by side. I too see a value in that. I’m not yet an owner but will soon be on the market. Would it be okay for my wife and I to visit during this event?
I hope to hear more as the autumn progresses.

You and your wife are welcome to join us at the gathering. Just for your information the park is only accessible by private boat or park ferry. They used to run it 7 days a week but recently only a few days a week. Don’t know how things will be in March.

If you look at last year’s link it will give you an idea of what we do at Hontoon. There has always been a good variety of different C-Dorys and a few other trailer trawlers attending. This will be our 13th year and people keep coming back for more!

See you at Hontoon…..Tom

I second Bob’s comment….Tom and Joyce are the backbone and heart of these gatherings. No words to adequately express our gratitude!

Molly Brown plans to be there but still being on the Great Loop it’s going to be tight. Might even have the boat up for sale 😔 as Betty is pushing hard to make living on the water a reality. I can’t figure out where to put my recliner on this boat….

My wife and I purchased a 23ft Venture. We are looking forward to Hontoon Island. ⚓🇺🇸

RDiemidio, welcome to the group at C-Brats and we hope you have a great time at the gathering. Also, congratulations on the purchase of your new 2024 C-Dory 23 Venture. We look forward to seeing many photos of your travels and adventure with your new purchase. Contact the administrators of this site and they will make a photo album for you. At very top of screen use the event signups link.

I'm new to this business but I went to "Event Signups" and then "View info" and then "subscribe"?

Is that all?

Should be a fun time, Thanks in advance!

It looks like most but not all of the boat ramps are open on the St. John’s river. I’ll have more information after the first of the year. I normally cruise the St. John’s over Christmas but instead plan on cruising from Jacksonville to the St. Lucie river and back. Anyone interested in joining us for all or part let me know. This is part of our plan for our second Loop.

We have updated our Chart Plotter and have our Garmin GPSMAP 4208 with antenna for sale. This would make a great unit for someone who navigates with an IPad and wants an inexpensive chart plotter for radar ect. Worked fine when removed…….$200. Can bring it to Hontoon if anyone is interested otherwise I’ll advertise it elsewhere.

Everyone have a Merry Christmas! Tom

Have a good time cruising Tom. I'd love to join you and Joyce, but Rosanne has other plans for us over Christmas....that and while we don't have snow yet, C-Traveler is tucked away in the back yard, until late February. You two have a Merry Christmas as well. Colby

Hontoon is still closed at this time. The Ranger I talked to yesterday said they would be opening any day now and I should call back next week. The gathering will be happening as scheduled.
More information will be provided after my Christmas- New Years cruise.
Merry Christmas
