01/27 - 01/29 - Seattle boat show and C-Brat Gathering

Add to the "thank yous" (Marty - is that "youse"?) Bill and Mike! And I am SO glad Mike could come and there was a room at the inn! Bill, we missed you!

And Peter for some FABULOUS music!

Susan, you KNOW we love spoiling you on your birthday! It was all for you, the C-Dory thing was just a trick to get you there for the birthday cake and to have 70 of your closest friends sing "Happy Birthday" to you! Although ZinZanni birthdays are cool too!

Like I told our neighbors Garry and Vicki many times, this C-Dory thing is NOT about the boats (well, maybe just a little) - it is about the camaraderie and great bonds of friendship we forge through our common Bratdom! I think they got a good taste of that last night!

It was a fun night with fellow C-Brats at the Tap Room in Snoqualmie. Good food, good brew, good music, and good fellowship. Thank you Pat, David, Roger, Barry, and fellow Brats for another great gathering. With more to follow at the boat show and dinner tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

Ann and I are just digging out of snow/work and see that the Potluck is tonight. I found that the time is 6:00 but I don't see where it it to be located. Is there room for two more? Where would it be happening?

Thanks

Although I am in no official capacity whatsoever, I'm sure there is room and you are welcome to come. It will be at the Larkspur Inn, 1701 E. Valley Rd., Renton. See you there!

If anyone is in need of 2 boat show tickets, please let us know...we'll have them with us at the potluck tonight.

On a separate note, we were wondering if someone knows what the dimensions of the top of a 19ft Angler are? We plan to install a high radar arch and would like to slip a tender beneath it. We won't have our boat for another month to measure it.

We saw a dinghy at the West Marine booth that is 8'6" x 4'7". Just wondering if we maybe need to go a foot shorter on length? There's a Saturn model that is 7'6" long online.

Thanks!

Hi Amy and Paul,

My inflatable is a Bombard AX 1, made by Zodiac. It is 6' 7" long, 3' 9" wide, and weighs 44 lbs. Piece of cake to throw up on the roof. It has the slatted floor. Is good for 2 adults, or 1 adult and a couple of kids. Also small outboard compatible. I like it. I paid $1,000 (Cd) for a new one in 2004.

Martin.

The potluck is a true potluck, no assignments of dishes, etc. Most people bring something for 6-10 people. When in a hotel like this several people just bring a storebought salad, pizza, chicken, etc. There is always plenty of food. Most people bring their own libations and there is plenty of room for another brat or two. We are good friends and what's a little close company.

Thanks, Martin! We'll check it iout. Judging by your choice, I gather the 8'6" size is too long, which I suspected.

Well, I didn't go to the boat show, but I did attend both the buffet at Snoqualmie Tap room on Friday and the pot luck and swap meet at Larkspur on Saturday. I have to say, it's a joy to meet the C-Brats in person after reading posts for so many years. Harvey, Pat, Mike, Robbi, Joe, Ruth, Tom Brady, Basecamp Anne, Jim and Joan, Chuck and Mrs. Chuck, DaveS., Roger, Roger, and of course Roger, and everybody else (even though these old eyes couldn't quite read your nametag). I say again-"God, I love this place".

What's not to like? Like-minded folks with good taste in boats. :D. The boat show was fun, the get-togethers even more fun.

The only sad part was seeing C-Dory owners at the boat show with no place to "hang out." I saw several in the Ranger display, some sitting by the food vendors. But, no place to stand around and say, "Yeah, we've got one of these."

All that good word of mouth advertising going to waste. :disgust

Great to see everyone there!

Best wishes,
Jim & Joan

I am so glad I made it to this thing! I only decided a week ago to just let the kids take care of themselves and go, and it was Thursday evening when I decided to skip work and go on Friday, and it was Friday night when I decided to stay for Saturday. One thing for sure, a C-Brat gathering is a great place to take a first date. Laurie figured any man with friends as wonderful as all you folks must be alright.

Thank you all for being there!

Mike

boy that's rare, usually they don't bus homeless folks to the soup kitchen.

we had a good time at the show, I enjoyed participating in the occupy Larkspur movement, we hit the road for home early this morn lest M lose her hermit status

:D Well, that was a great shindig! Thanks to Roger and Lizbeth for all the organizing, Pat Anderson and crew for the Friday pub event, Barry for arranging the bus, and all you C-Brats for once again making us feel so welcome!
Safe home, good trip, the only snow we found was already lying on the ground here in Blind Bay.

Cindie and I had a great time at the brewery and Larkspur and really enjoyed the night out! We also met more friends at the show and enjoyed a Saturday filled with boats of all sizes and some clear direction on our future boating possibilities. The path should narrow in the next couple of weeks then we will know if we need 16ft or 45ft of boat to move forward.

Thanks everyone for making the weekend go so well,

Greg

Thank you Roger for putting on a great gathering! Barry for the good safe bus ride, Pat for the great dinner and party and Linda for getting us all registered at a fine hotel. Ruth for the cake and photos, and all the great c brats who came by for the event. Carolyn and I had a wonderful time seeing and meeting you all. This was Carolyn's first gathering and boat show. She has a camping background and C Dory life is fairly new to her. She is pumped to get on the road and water and live the life. Meeting the great women c brats was an inspiration to both of us. Thank you ladies for all you bring to the cruising life. We look forward to the next gathering and time on the water. We truly enjoyed the show, and the Ranger tugs do put on a rockin display. They are nicely done boats and they deserve great sucess. Kerri On has an extensive cruise season planned and we will keep you all posted. See you in Comox and Powell. George and Carolyn

Just a small correction, George - thank Patty for the cake! I know Ruth is our usual cake lady, but Patty arranged for Susan's birthday cake! Ruth did Susan's card that everybody signed.

I want to give a big shout out to Pat & Dave for hosting the Friday night dinner. We had a great time catching up with our C-Brat friends. Those chicken wings are the best !
Peter and his band were incredible. I LOVE jazz.
Good to see everyone.
Terry

I just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to the C-Brats for your warm reception and generous donations to the band on Friday night! It was a great event and lots of fun to play at. I hope you all enjoyed the music as much as we enjoyed playing it. I'm sure I'm not speaking out of turn when I say the band would love to play for the C-Brats again in the future if asked. And thank you Pat and David for setting this up and for your support of the band.
