Thanks DeNag for setting this up.

i have been procrastinating setting one up because the Silver cloud is refusing to let us use the lake view lobby for a pot luck. i can't even get teh manager of sales to talk to me in person

so i have spent 3 weeks on and off calling different hotels to see about another room. i have been unable to get a SINGLE one of them to call me back. I have called 5 in the lake union area and one VROB that had a roof top deck with 4 BBQ. However Tom did reminded me that it is winter and roof top BBQ might not work for January. it was attracting because they had several units in the same building available for about 100$ per night

so this coming week i will give it one last shot to get some of these people to call me back. but other wise the pot lick is off unless some one else has a better idea.

i called

residence inn by mariot
courtyard by marriot
four points sherritan
Hampton inn
the edgewater said no outside food or drink

the historic panama hotel next to safeco field may let us rent their kitchen area but it is a European hotel with bathrooms down the hall

thanks

Hey Susan
just a short note to tell you that the Larkspur motel we used when I was running the gathering contacts us every year wanting us to come back. I know it is a way out there but it worked for 4 or 5 years for me. free parking, free use of the room and lower cost of rooms.

Hi Roger, those meet-ups were before my time, so I googled "Larkspur" and see there is one in Bellevue and one in Renton. (or maybe they are the same?) Which location are you suggesting?

Although both Renton and Bellevue sound like a bit of a haul, I do like the idea of maybe somewhere outside of the downtown/ South Lake Union neighborhoods, due to parking costs, traffic, etc. Seattle is really getting out of hand in many regards. And Sam's car got broken into in the Silver Cloud parking lot last year.

What about a location somewhere near a major park-and-ride hub (like Northgate?) and then people could have the option of riding the bus into town for the show, or driving if they prefer. I don't have any specific ideas in mind...maybe Larkspur fits that bill as well? The main problem I see is that anywhere "outside" of downtown is going to be extra distance for someone, depending which direction you come from, so maybe right in town is really the best option... That sux that nobody is returning your calls Susan!

I'm ok with way out too. What about way way out, and then maybe charter a bus to make the run in and back later the same day, fkr a couple of days, like did the bus up to Pats brewery by the falls. We might get way cheaper rooms, and not have to drive into Seattle at all. Just a thought. Maybe Larkspur would work and if they want us back bad enough, they might make it worth our while. Maybe the local C-Dory dealer would kick in some on the bus.

This might be thinking tooooo farrrr outside the box, so I'll back out for now. Just some scattered thoughts.

Susan is working on some options. but here is my opinion for what its worth.

We have used the down town locations for the last few years because the hotel was close to everything. Transport, food, and the floating half of the show. The parking at that hotel was free if you stayed there and it was a underground gated parking lot with in the hotel. And yes one of the cars still got broke into.

Several of our members came in by train that arrives right at the show so that worked out well.

The biggest draw to the hotel was the use of the breakfast lounge with a view of the lake for the pot luck. Which worked out very well. I think that the pot luck in the height of the event. The hotel will not let us use the room this year for what ever reason. We have argued with them but they will not allow it.

We will find something in the next week. So stand by to stand by

Tom and Susan,
Support from here, whichever way you go. I personally liked the Larkspur, but I will go with the flow.

Lois and I are hoping to make it to the SBS this year. Have we had any luck with a plan yet?

For what it's worth, the Larkspur in Renton serves up some great memories for a few of us. That was the place where the first ever SBSCBGT was hosted wonderfully by Chivita Dave when was the manager there. Sadly for us, he is no longer running the place.

The location was a bit far from the show, but it was certainly quiet and peaceful. If you all do decide it will work, I would like to reserve two seats in Catman's car for the trip to the show. I know he is going to park way off from the building, but we can walk.

While it doesn't take the place of a potluck it still would be nice to go to the boat show one or two days and have the chance of meeting up with others for an hour or so, maybe less. Lots of nice restaurants in the area, and if you go after 1PM there is generally room.

Big Thanks to Peter of C dancer.

The pot luck is still on. Peter has arranged for a conference room at his work the Inn at the Market , at pikes market Seattle. and for a great price. I found two places for the event but it would have taken all of the C-brats kitty money. So thanks to Peter and his gracious employer to lend us the room for a very small fee. we have had the pot luck there once before and the room is great with table chairs and outlets for crockpots ect.

date is Saturday, January 27th 2018. 5pm to 10pm. The place is at , Inn at the Market. 86 Pine St, Seattle, WA 98101, phone (206) 443-3600

we have no official hotel . but you can make reservations where you like including the Inn at the Market

Tom and i will be staying at the silver cloud on lake union, with free parking for 169 a night.

there are VRBO near lake union for approx 100 per night with a one time 100 $managers fee. and are walking distance to the lake union boat afloat.

Looking forward to see you all

susan

Peter, Thank you and your effort is appreciated. Thanks too, to Susan and Tom. Herding cats is not easy and I think the best part of the CBGT is the "getting together" so the Pot luck is the big prize. (Guess that's because I'm to looking for a new boat.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

OH oh   My VERY bad. Sure sorry and hope I can stop any bad rumors early in the picture.

I typed " (Guess that's because I'm to looking for a new boat."
I FAILED TO TYPE "NOT" instead of "to".

So, no I am not looking for a new boat, and Yes, IF I was, I would be looking for twins Jason, And for now, and the foreseeable future, Harvey and SleepyC are a pretty good fit with no plans for parting.
