01/24 - 01/27 - Seattle Boat Show/C-Brat Extravaganza

Yes David. You spelled downunder properly as best as I can tell.

Got some bad news that Les and Dusty will not be able to make it tonight. Bummer,... :cry

We all know how much Les, Kathy, and the crew at EQ Marine has made on each of us. Many of our boats and rigs on our boats are a result of one of the founding dealerships for the C-Dory boats. Quality service and instalation on complex systems. We appreciate it all Les and Kathy.

Dusty, Thanks for your coffee runs in the mornings keeping the EQ shop rolling. We will miss you tonight.

Lizzy: Thanks for the pics. You boat looked great as we looked thre the locks. Yes, it was a beautiful day. My 4th year in a row to enjoy my C-Brat friends at the Hawthorne House around this event and the cruise too.

Great foods/dishes last night, and look forward to the factory opening the doors this year.

Pat,

Thanks for the "heads up" - sure wanted to go, but I'm just not up to the trip. A big "Howdie" and "Wish I was there," to all my friends.

Les and Dusty, sorry you could not make it...we missed you both!

Well, the SBS/CBC is in the books for 2008 except for breakfast and goodbyes for most of us! A few are headed back to the boat show, but we'll be headed home.

This was very a very interesting year. At the SBS, Scot and crew were once again displaying the C-Brat collage from 2005 and the video slide show I made, and at the factory party Scot made a big point of thanking the Brats for their support and loyalty. C-Dory is going back to the Decraguard interior on the CD22s. I think our collective opinions matter at C-Dory. I feel quite a bit better about the direction of the company, although I still wish I could go there for service.

The boats themselves are looking good as always! The CD22, CD25, Venture 23 and Venture 26 make a GREAT line-up, and I think in this economy, they are priced right (there were LOTS of Brand X boats at the SBS that made you scratch your head - $100K for THAT??), so here is hoping for a good sales result for C-Dory from this and all their other shows.

The reports from the Hawthorne have been sketchy because the hotel's internet connection has been non-functional - I finally got my Mac to Treo tether working, so I don't have to punch out my message on those tiny little buttons! I am sure others will have lots to say about the show when they get home.

A HUGE thanks to Sensei Roger and Linda from the travel desk, and of course to Tyboo Mike and DaNag Bill who make all of this possible!

Thanks C-Brats for all the posts on this thread. It's been fun watching the planning and coordination. It was two years ago that we attended the SBS, signed the contract for Wild Blue, and no looking back since. We will get back there again sometime... the cold and drizzle were a deterrent for us, but this past week has been gray and chilly in the Tropical Tip. We actually turned on the Wallas while out yesterday for something besides cooking!

I hope some of you will post photos of the gathering, the boat show, and the V-26 for those of us who couldn't make it this year.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Thanks to Scot for opening the doors of the factory and putting on a great dinner and a wonderful party! I enjoyed catching up with "the usual suspects" and meeting new C-Brats.
Thanks also to all of the hard working C-Dory employees that spent time away from their families on a Saturday night to make this party a success!

Best Regards,
Leo

Well, the South Puget Sound has a proud new owner, deposit paid in Nov, cash plunked down in December, took partial delivery last week, returned to SeaRay for some final work, and will tike final delivery Monday. We did manage to have the dealer fix us up with boat show tickets and ran into a few folks Sat who advised of the boat show Brat factory dinner tour/ get together which we had no knowledge of.
Next year perhaps.
As this is my first post, I must thank all of you for the excess of great debate, with photos, over options and modifications. I think we drove the dealer a little crazy but we were able to make so many correct decisions up front that many hours and more dollars were saved.

Capital Sea, welcome to the site. To bad you just didn't show up at the Hawthorne or the C-Dory Factory. You would have been welcome at either or both. There are many CBGT's (C-Brat Get Togethers) all during the year. The next major one is in Friday Harbor on May 16-18. You will find listings under Event Sign-ups at the top of the home page. There are 27 boats signed up so far for this one. This is a geat opportunity to meet a lot of like minded boaters and have a great time. C-Cakes (Barry) has arranged for a special dock price of $.70 a ft and we will have a meeting room for a potluck.
Hope to see you out on the water sometime. We generally use 68 for a hailing channel in the Puget Sound area, as well as always monitoring 16 of course.

There is usually also a christening/naming ceremony for new boats.

We had a wonderful time and wish to thank Sensei Roger, Linda Dreher, CD Factory Guys, our C-Brat administrators and everyone else involved in putting together a wonderful weekend. More than words can express, it was just fantastic visiting with the CD folks we already know and meeting so many new people, too.

Of course, Joe's weekend was absolutely complete with winning the C-Dory jacket :thup

David, well, I was told to just stop by, but we had made dinner plans prior to the drive North for the show.
I did see the May event in Friday Harbor and have some interest. We tend to hit the spot prawn season as hard as we can with our boat at guest moorage in Edmonds. So the Wed's and Sat's only season will dictate what we do and where we do it. Catch preservation is hard from the islands. But we may motor up on the Sunday and overnight at a friends over in Dear Harbor if we cannot set a firm plan ahead of time.
As for the ceremonial christening, we hope it does not involve the bashing of heavy glass against our new baby. We are friendly but not that friendly.
Till then if you see a 22 green high top being pushed around by a Honda 90 hale away.
Regards, Steven and Kathleen

I'd like to echo Ruth and Joe....What a great time! We met some more Brats, some un-Brats and had a wonderful time. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in the planning. VERY nice jacket Joe!

There are more spot prawns to be had up in the San Juans than down here. If things are like last year, they'll have a 5 day a week season (minus Sun and Mon). We plan to go up on Thurs and hit the spots we learned about 2 years ago. So don't let the spot prawn season in area 9/10 keep you away, you can get your limit in area 7!

It certainly was great to spend time again with C-Brats (to reconnect with old brats and connect with new brats.....not in an age sort of way... :wink ) . Roger (Sensei) as usual did a fantastic job of organizing the Hawthorn event with the help of Linda, Lizbeth, Larry H., Byrdman etc. Thank you to Scot and the C-Dory Factory employees for such a great feed, fellowship, and raffle drawings. This was truly a great weekend!
For those C-Brats that have never attended this particular function, I highly recommend it!

The SBS CBGT was three great days and nights for me. It was great seeing many of my C-Brat friends again and meeting new ones.

Listening to Byrdman Thursday evening tell his story about his friends and he on his boat, without the drain plug in, caused me to laugh so hard, I thought I would p my pants.

Folks came from all over the US and Canada for the Friday Night pot luck. Lots of good food but even better conversation. For us die hard Brats, it lasted until 1 am Saturday. Then I met Roger SeaDNA and Joyce for lunch and he and I went shopping for killer salmon gear after lunch.

Saturday night’s factory party was a lot of fun and I picked up a few spare parts for my boat at the garage sale. Thank you Scott and all the C-Dory employees for the party and for the great night at the factory.

After the factory party more good conversation at the hotel until 1 am Sunday. Then I headed home. Got here a little after 2 am.

Thank you Roger, Patrick, Linda, Larry and all the other C-Brats that spent time and money making this a successful get-together.

Hope to see all of you and more C-Brats at next years get-together.

Brats,

It's been said, but I want to add my thanks to Roger (SENSEI)
for organizing this gathering. :thup :thup

In the middle of his busy potato processing season, he has taken time to organize this extravaganza. I am glad that I could help with some of the details. :teeth

Thanks, also, to all those who attended, for after all the C-Brats are about the people! :wink

I'd like to add our thanks to those mentioned above already.

".....Sensei Roger, Linda Dreher, CD Factory Guys, our C-Brat administrators and everyone else involved in putting together a wonderful weekend." thanks to CAVU, for sharing the books, to C-Dory for the tickets to SBS, and Also to each of the Brats who took time to come out and share of their experiences and expertise, and elegance, (some of the guy's from the Sat nite round table will know whereof I speak). What a great group, and a great time. We had a blast.

We missed getting to meet Sea Wolf Joe, and Dusty, Les and Dot and Marti were missed as well. We really didn't have enough time to spend with some friends from previous CBGT's so we will have to get out to more this year. It was our pleasure to get to meet you all, and we are looking forward to many more.

Thanks for the great time.

Speaking of those we missed this year, it's a shame Bill and El couldn't make it this time around. Maybe we'll run into them at some later CBGT. Bill - I don't see any discussion of Neah Bay or Cape Flattery on Halcyon days. There's got to be some interesting geology out there AND as luck would have it, someone is organizing a CBGT there in Aug 2008.
