Hoist a brew for me, eh? Can't get down, but had some cool visitors come up to spend a little time and lunch. Great day here, but sure wish I wuz with the gang.

Dusty

I didn't hoist a brew for you but I did consume a glass of wine for you. Several of us (Seawolf Joe, Pat, myself and others) had a nice conversation about you. It seems each one of us knows a different subset of your stories. So while you weren't personally there, some of your stories still made it. Take care Dusty, I hope to make it up to Whidbey sometime next month to visit.

Dusty, we sure miss you here! We will probably be bringing Daydream up to Cornet Bay for some troubleshooing on the Raymarine inputs (I was in the middle of a conversation with Les about it when Verizon rudely dropped the signal, when I called back, the message said "This number has a mailbox that has not been set up yet"). We shall hoist a brew to you and leave hoisting the fancy schmancy wine to Roger!

We did have a wonderful CBC potluck last night though!

It looks like I won't make it either. I was going to come to the factory, with little Arwen in tow. But Julia's taken a turn for the worse, so I'm going to stick at home today.

Thanks guys! "please don't talk about me when I'm gone" or so the song sez. And Roger, if you think my war stories are way out in left field -- wait until you hear some of my fish tales!!

Hated to miss the fun gathering, but maybe next time.

  Dusty

I sure hoisted one for you shipmate! Seawolf Joe, Sally and I sure had fun with you at lunch on Thursday too! We'll come up there every trip out here, it's a beautiful spot you have there!

Take care..

Charlie

Well, the Friday night potluck at Larkspur Landing, the boat show visit at Qwest Event Center and the party at the C-Dory factory are now in the bag! Nothing left but breakfast and warm goodbyes! A huge thanks to Roger Johnson for organizing again, thanks to Roger Clark for the name badges for everyone, and thanks to Rich Finlay and the crew at C-Dory for another great factory party! It was a Mexican theme this year, and the keg of Haystack Hefeweizen was a pretty darn good match if I say so myself. Rich was MC for the drawing, and there was a great array of wonderful prizes. Oh, well, I guess I won my prize at the annual "garage sale" and the gift from Peter Jamero of one of his rod holders. Roger from Idaho - my offer for the Cobb you won is now: $50, David gives you a custom helm hub, AND I wear the Potato Commission pin every day for a year! Please, don't make me beg!

I posted my observations on the R-29 previously and I can imagine it must have been the "buzz boat" at the SBS. The C-Dorys were looking good, especially the Tomcat 255. We were able to resist buying anything this year though, and our purchase of the CD25 in 2005 is looking better and better. We saw a nice presentation by Clyde Ford from Bellingham on his Charlie Noble thriller Precious Cargo (an elderly couple starting on their last cruise up the Inside Passage pulls up a dead body in Eagle Harbor, Cypress Island, when they weigh anchor). David got an autographed copy and we got an autographed bookmark, since we had already read it! We didn't make it out to Lake Union for the Boats Afloat part this year, above our pay grade anyway.

I didn't bring a camera, but I saw a lot of folks taking photos, look forward to seeing those pix! If you didn't come this year, you REALLY should plan on this one next year!

Good morning Pat,

Thanks for posting your observations of the factory gathering. We'll be looking forward to more posts and photos from those who attended. There was a mini-C-Brat gathering at our place last night, with the crews of Discovery and Wild Blue. Of course, talk turned to the factory gathering, with all 4 of us saying, "One of these years..."

Hope business is lively for C-Dory and Ranger with the buzz of the boat shows.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

We could only manage the SBS for a period on Friday but it was good midwinter boost to meet up with some good friends. Sorry for those that we missed and really sorry we could not get to the CBGT that night. Anyway we hoisted a glass in memory of good times past and those yet to come.

We took a good look at the R-29 and Kudos to Ranger, it stood up very well against the Nordic 26 across the aisle!! However, I would be scared to death to drill the first hole in all that pretty trim!

C-Dory spread was impressive and well laid out.

Did any of you check out the Island Packet SP Cruiser ? WOW  . OK, it's nearly 500BU's but what a way to go with good sailing capability backed up by 110Hp and 200+ gallon fuel capacity.
Oh well, keep on buying the lottery tickets.

Before I leave for the show I should post this list of fishing classes that will be at the show. I have heard many of these folks give classes before and Ron Garner is a good freind and pres of The Edmonds chapter of PSA. This guy gets more 100 plus lbs halibut in Washington then anyone I know. Last year he had 6 100plus fish to the boat. One was 175 I think. Ron is a rgreat guy. Any way heres the link to the list.

Tom, I saw Ron Garner yesterday. He was very good. Remember telling me about the West bathymetric charts for Puget Sound (Raymarine)? I never got one, but the Navionics rep gave me one yesterday, what a nice guy. As I posted elsewhere the West charts are now out for the iPhone ($50). It plots your boat on the chart, a great backup system.

Thanks for the postings. Sure missed the trip this year, but more so, I missed seeing my C-Brat friends. Think I made the last 4 or 5 years...and like some others, I do look forward to seeing some of the pics being posted. Dusty, Charlie, Joe and the Thursday lunch crew...man, I sure missed a fine time I am sure. Roger/SENSEI, I enjoyed our quick chat and know that I was there in spirit.

Byrdman on the eastside....or, southeast side.

Well - what a good weekend it was. The boat show was good (as usual) but as I don't have large piles of free cash laying around right now, the main reason for going was to look at accessories. Bought a new Ace Line Hauler for pulling the shrimp pots. I will definitely get out this year for shrimping.

The Fri pot luck was great as was the factory dinner. We got lucky in the raffle this year and won a mustang inflatable PFD (manual) and pair of Harken sunglasses, an LED illuminated magnifying glass and a free 1 year subscription to Norwesting magazine - what a score! Thanks so much to the factory for doing all this for all of us brats.

It was also great seeing old friends and making new ones. Finally got to meet SeaWolf Joe in person and we got a picture of 4 of the C-Brat Rogers all together. And...... (drumroll) - Brock managed to make it to the dinner last night too. Tyboo Mike seemed to be enjoying himself and his girls and their two friends also appeared to have a good time. Overall, it was a great weekend all around.

It certainly was another great weekend meeting up with old time C-Brats and finally getting to meet quite a few that I hadn't met before.
This year, Jessica's boyfriend (Robert) drove down with me to attend the boat show on Friday and then late Friday night Carol and Jessica joined the two of us for the potluck and the rest of the weekend's festivities. Saturday while the "girls" went shopping at Ikea, Robert and I spent a good bit of time in the HUGE motorcyle store just down the street from the hotel.
Many thanks to Rich Finley and the factory for the great "South of the Border" feast. Thanks to Pat and David for the Snoqualmie Falls Beer, Roger (Sensei) for planning and putting together another great event (and the potatoes), to Roger (Dreamer) for the name tags...(Robert was impressed that you had one for him), to Linda for taking care of the hotel reservations etc. and of course to all the fellow C-Brats for making it all happen.
It was certainly "heart warming" to see how you C-Brats included Jessica and Robert in your conversations at the gathering. Tyboo's girls and Jeremiah, (Sensei Roger and Lisbeth's son) joined us as well. It is fun watching the "young C-Brats" as they get older and still have an interest and want to be a part of our love of C-Dorys.

(As a side note.....several weeks ago J's boyfriend was working on a college school project with a classmate when she made some comment about her folks and C-Dory. Robert said, "C-Dory?...did you say C-Dory?'...long story short it was Roger and Lisbeth's daughter...the connection was then made about the families being C-Dory fanatics).

By the way, on my arrival home today, I was greeted by snow that had "painted" the landscape, and it is still there and it is cold outside......guess winter is still with us.

I just spent some time enjoying the photos from the SBS and factory gathering. Since Ruth wasn't in any of those photos, I'm guessing she's the one to thank for those. :thup Looks like y'all had fun.

Through careful examination, it appears that at least 42% of the people in the photos appear reasonably normal. I can see that we're going to have to make it back there again just to check it out in person.

Best wishes,
Jim

we had a good time at our abreviated SBS adventure. A big thanks to the factory folks for the dinner, although it was kind of disappointing not to see a pile of Tomcats in the yard sale pile :). It was good to get to visit a spell with some folks....maybe next year we'll open up the wallet and go for the whole SBS motel experience.

For sure, the biggest conflict I had about the schedule of my FL trip was missing the SBS event, especially now that C-Dory has found its footing again. I'm glad y'all had a good time, and hope to see you at various CBGT between April and next January's show...

We're enjoying the 75 degree weather here in the Keys. Getting a lot of compliments and interest in the "exotic" Tom Cat. I think the factory should work up some mini-brochures for owners to give out to people who have questions.

Well, another one is in the books.
it was great to see everyone and meet some new people.
Thanks to Roger on Dreamer for the nice name tags. it was a great aid in remembering everyone. I especially liked the tags for the people looking to buy that read " official C-Dory inspectors " nice touch!!!!
all of our events went well even tho the motel meeting room was small.
as for the Boat Show, it was ok. nice to see the new R29 and the C-Dory exhibit was laid out well. it has been three years since the last boat show I attended and if not for a few new boats and new dealers involved,it wasn't much of a change. I won't have to go to one for another 3 years now . (lots more time to visit at the motel with everyone.)

I would like to get some feedback on your experience at this motel. should I start talking to them about next year??? they have already invited us back.
will we be ok with the size of the room if we have more attendees? it was about right this year for the crowd we had.
Thank you to the C-Dory Factory for a great party and it was nice to get to know the new management up close. Best wishes for a productive future so that we can continue this tradition for years to come.

Just a few comments on the weekend, first, we had a great time seeing old friends and meeting new ones. This group would all be great friends no matter what interest brought us together.

Thanks to Roger (Sensei) for all the organization and planning. I enjoyed my small part and got to know a lot of names, boat names and hometowns by doing it.

We thought the hotel was great, lots of smiling people catered to our every need. Nice rooms, good breakfast, meeting room intimate. I'd vote yes for doing it there again.

It's a sunny 26 degrees in Sequim. I think I'll go tinker with the boat!

Thanks again to Roger, Roger, and Roger; for sponsoring the event, for the name tags, and for the potatoes. We thought the rooms and amenities were great and even though the meeting room was a bit small it seemed to work well. Two votes for doing it again next year.

Home again in VA after a long trip! We had a great time though, thanks to Roger for all the planning and to Roger for the nametags. That place is fine for next year, two more votes.

Our high point was our visit with Dusty on Friday for lunch, he couldn't get down so Sally, Seawolf Joe and I drove up and met him at EQ Marine. He looks great as usual, maybe we'll drive up next year and kidnap him for the whole weekend.

Thanks again, had fun but it's GOOD to be home. 30 degrees here in VA!

Charlie

I remember reading that the factory was going to have a collage or something like that of C-Brats' pets on display at the factory dinner. Do that come about? I wonder if our Airedale Boomer was on it.

Marcia and I wish we could have been there.
