    Reaching for my trophy

Congrats, Administrators, on the transition to the new site! It sounds like it was a Herculean effort, I am glad to see it is up and running. I hope it doesn't keep you tooooo busy chasing down bugs, etc. The point of this post is that The System offered to give me a trophy for my first post...

    SITE UPGRADE - September 3

All: This seems like as good a place as any to post a reminder that there is a "Tip Jar" at the top left of the Home page to keep the site going. If you haven't jangled the tip jar in awhile, please consider doing so. :D

    Yellowstone Lake

I saw Grace bobbing merrily in her slip on my recent trip to Yellowstone. I was, and continue to be, amazed at how quiet the marina/lake is, particularly in comparison to the land-based park! It is high on my list to bring my new boat to Yellowstone Lake -- hopefully next year will be the year.

    22 Cruiser of 23 Venture

As a rank newbie, my opinion may not count for much. For me, I let the market determine which boat was "better." What I mean is that I was actively looking for either one, and would have been pleased with either one, and ended up with a Cape Cruiser due to timing/dollars/condition/location and a...

    Low speed steering suggestions?

Thank you for the replies. I just got off the water, and it seems like holding your mouth right, and practice practice practice are big parts of the solution. Also, as mentioned, a little bit more throttle helps a lot. I don't have a Permatrim, yet, but am looking in to it.

    Low speed steering suggestions?

Clearly this is more of a newbie issue than a technical steering issue, but can you(s) offer some tips for maintaining steering at low speeds? I find that idling around the harbor at 1000ish RPM (prox 4 kts), I have difficulty maintaining a straight course, and if I deviate from straight, I...

New Owner says hello ... am I doing this right???

Aaaaah, yes. As my mentor says, "the most dangerous thing on a boat is a schedule." The important Mr. Scott had somewhere he needed to be (apparently) and let his schedule lead him into this. The harbor mouth was, ah, not quite this wild yesterday. But I didn't go outside anyway, being a newbie...

New Owner says hello ... am I doing this right???

Thank you for the welcomes. I finally took the opportunity today to launch "Scoot" from the boat launch in Morro Bay. I am happy to report that the exercise went off without any unanticipated learning experiences. (I had an experienced friend walk me through it). We did not make it out of the...

120V-15a (household) plug behind plastic cap in transom

Thank you, gents. I will need to go research it a little more closely. It makes perfect sense that it would power the battery charger (which resides in the transom locker nearby). But it doesn't. It runs past the charger and into can't-see-ville. By observation and process of elimination, I...

120V-15a (household) plug behind plastic cap in transom

On my new-to-me 2006 Cape Cruiser 23, I have a plastic cap in the transom just below the engine. Under the plastic cap is a 120V-15amp plug. When I put power to the plug, nothing happens. When I put power to the plug AND turn on the inverter switch at the helm, I get power to a 120V outlet on...

New Owner says hello ... am I doing this right???

I am the brand new and proud owner of a 2006 Cape Cruiser 23. As a rank amateur, I question whether I am doing this right, as shown in the photo below. Apparently, first you buy a boat; then you put the boat on a trailer; then you put the trailer on a ferry over water. Somehow, I thought...

Help with 2012 CD 22 selling price

Looks like a High Top, too, which adds significant value for the vertically-endowed among us. I don't know what a realistic asking price is, only that it ought to be more due the raised cabin. Good luck with the upcoming sale! (No, I am not in the market :-) )

    uploading to galley

I just finished wondering about this my ownself. Turns out you need to send a private message to one of our admins and ask them to set up a photo gallery for you. Once they allow you access, putting pix in should be pretty straight forward. The admins I know of are username TyBoo and username...
