    Trial Run with Spouce

I have no experience here but I would choose to have a fire blanket handy and use that first as opposed to the typical fire extinguisher putting white powder over the whole cabin. Halon fire extinguisher a good choice but not sure of their availability and cost. Jay

    Fuel-filler grounding on 22 Cruiser

Well lets revive this thread. I'm no electrical wiz but there are grounds and there are grounds. What I mean is that the negative post on a battery is a "ground" for a CD22. BUT when on a trailer that terminal is not grounded (think connected) to the ground (think earth), so for the CD22...

    Aluminum ... A-dory?

I meant that the Lifetimer is made in Duncan. My friend and his boat are in Duluth, MN. So I don't know a sloe on Vancouver Is. which is the island I assume you were referring to. I checked out the LIfetimer 22 on the web and it is close to a CD-22 except for the hull bottom.; buy local, no...

    Aluminum ... A-dory?

A friend has a Lifetimer (Duncan, BC). Great boat. It has a deep vee but with the rear third shaved off giving more plane-ing surface. "Climbing out of the hole" characteristics very similar to a C-Dory which is to say "no hole" just a gradual rise of the bow. Manufacturer was very open to...

    2002 Wallas

Up until the top cracked I never had any trouble with this unit. I always turned it on with the outboards running to get full voltage and started it and shut it down (last 5 minutes or more) on full heat. Email best way to contact me. Jay

    2002 Wallas

I have a 2002 (or 2001) Wallas stove, flush mount with pot retainers. The ceramic top is cracked. I considered using a high temp caulk but instead went with a new unit and wow! they are really improved and pricy. However, trying to downsize with my advancing age I will ship it to anyone for the...

    Must have modifications

A few comments concerning a CD-22. Most use of the boat has been on Lake Superior for 22 years, nice and nasty times, 0 - 10 passengers, usually 1-3 passengers, twin Honda 40s, moderate to heavy loading 1) 4 bladed props great (Solas approximately 11"x11")- easily get on plane with one engine...

looking for assistance in replacing two cracked windows

Lexan would be a better choice than acrylic. Hard to break, not that much more expensive, usually easy to get locally and probably a lot more scratch resistant than an acrylic. Jay

    Front Window Adjuster

2002 model had a funky twist nut that was hard to tighten. I threw the nut away, replaced it with a pipe coupling with the same thread as the twist nut, drilled and tapped the coupling and screwed in a wing bolt the held the original strut by friction. It worked well and still works. Jay

    Rear bench seat ideas…

Floating but somewhat jammed between the two inwales. In some rough seas on Lake Superior the boxes would slide some but slid much more when trailering and having to do a sudden stop. Jay

    Rear bench seat ideas…

My take. Lots of added storage, seating bench and sleeping bench if a pad is added; limited foot space. Boxes are a perfect fit - lockable Cosco (not Costco) boxes. Can't find the boxes on the web but I will check model number next time I'm at the boat if you want it; just let me know. Plywood...

    Raising tower height question

Remove the rod holders from the arch crossbar and have the welder weld them onto the leg extensions where you can reach them - just another added step in a simple project. Jay

    Single Vs. Twin Engine Pro/Com

I agree with starcraftom except for two points 1) You can easily plane on a single twin with the right setup. I have a heavyish CD22 with twin 40 Hondas with 4 bladed Solas aluminum props, 11x11, I believe. No problem planing on one but WOT is just 4500 rpm - if I remember correctly doing about...

    Big Changes Coming

A big thanks for all your efforts past, current and future. I don't use FB and the few times I've been on it I can't find any useful information, just irrelevant garbage. Sounds like updates are in order, go for it, and now to the tip jar. Jay

Rotted Fuel Pickup Tubes in 2007 C-Dory Cruiser

Thanks for all the good info. This coming summers' project after 20 years of use. Will probably clean tanks, replace pickups, fuel lines and primer bulbs. And router out the cleat screw holes, epoxy and reset the cleats. About time I did all that. Where are the anti-siphon valves (mentioned in...

Rotted Fuel Pickup Tubes in 2007 C-Dory Cruiser

How did you clean your fuel tanks? Just use a tube through the pickup tube hole, swish around a solvent, and suck out the tube with a fuel compatible pump or just turn the tank upside down and slosh until it all dribbled out? Where did you get the new pickup tube? Thanks, Jay
