    Need for kicker?

Hello Thataway... Well, for the time being I have the Yamahas and yes they are good engines; I'm just frustrated with the service. And you are most probably right, it is an issue of scale economics (less clients + $). My engines are around 100 hours, but they have been on the boat for 3 years...

    Need for kicker?

Ok, thanks, and sorry for the "kicker" thing. Like they say, "worst question is the one not asked". Right now I have 2 60 HP Yamaha auxiliaries... or mains, depends how you look at it; but am disgusted with the local rep: charged me $400 to change 2 thermostats. Well... really only paid 150, for...

    Need for kicker?

Hello folk: Read somewhere in the site about "off center main engine mount", and was wondering. If mounting main off center, then it would be possible to mount kicker sans special mount. Would look funny; but would this affect boat handling with main at high power?

Ok Thataway... this has all been fine information and nice to chat with y'all. Will see what comes up next. Right now my boat is stuck on land because the forward trailer extension rusted from the inside out. It was quite sneaky thing to do, and dangerous. Regards.

Thanks Will-C, will do... And as for the questions posed by Thataway, here are the native measurements of my props: 3.75" x 13". My engines WOT is 5000-6000 and I am in the middle of it. Will pay attention or "graph" between RPMs and GPS speed. But GPS is variable according to current, how does...

I'd say about half the time I run at 2,100 RPM, while trolling. It's mainly when I go touring that I spend more time at 2,100 RPM. The rest of the time I'm run at optimal cruise speed, about 18 knots at 4,000 RPM or a bit more depending on water roughness. When it's rough I bring it back to...

Yes Thataway: I did re power to 2 Yamaha 60 for peace of mind. Tried to get a kicker but the local dealers did not seem interested in the business. I posted the picture of the cavitation marks on both my props, see if any C-Brats have experienced such. http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_...

I normally run the RPMs up until I notice I'm not getting more bucks for the kick, which seems to be about 2,100... getting about 6 knots; and at that speed I have even caught Wahooo! Plus, tuna (yellow fin and albacore), dorado, permit, snapper, and an occasional plastic bag. So why run faster...

Good discussion! When I run displacement on 2 engines at 6 knots, and then turn one engine off and lift it out of the water, the boat continues at the same speed with the other engine alone; that gives the sense of what drag brings into play. And, of course, the fuel you save and extended range...

Bless those with the penchant for mechanical involvement. I recently was charged $500 for a window operating mechanism on a Honda CRV that I later found in Amazon for $65. No LOL please! By the way, is there negative effects of running a Yamaha or such at low RPM all day? Now-days, I like to go...

Yep, but like Will-C said: "It your dealer is the only game in town"... and then some. In any case, makes you appreciate the 3 or 5 year no maintenance offered by Evinrude.

Hello from the tropics, Northern C-Brats: Been hunting the site for average price $$ for dealer 100 hour or yearly inspection without a hit. Our local Yamaha rep is asking $600 for both my 60 HP Yamahas. Would be mainly a year inspection for my engines are still below 100 hours. They propose...

question about boat surfing and swells

Hear no mention of what windage does to these boats. Got caught in an over 40 knot blow and could not turn the boat into the wind unless I got her on the step. Ran for cover riding the short length waves (about 10 feet high) on the side (slightly into the waves, especially the big ones) just on...
