    Say a prayer

I have been in regular contact with Bob the last couple of weeks. I just finished talking to Marie. Bob went for his surgery at about 12.30 PM Central time. He will be in the OR for another few hours. I will post an update as soon as I hear from Marie.

    Engines

Wow! And here I am with Suzuki 150s barely making 2.1 mpg. Oh wait- I have a bimini, bottom paint, extra batteries, (unnecessarily) full water tank, full fuel, pots and pans, tools, bunch of other crap, some heavy friends...now I don't feel so bad :D

Its time to thank Matt and Marc

I would like to add my thanks and appreciation to Marc and Matt. I bought my boat from Marc. Every interaction with him has reinforced my original decision to use his dealership. Thank you.

    TomCat steering hydraulic fluid spray

The Telefex steering system in the older Tomcats (such as mine- 2006) has a vented filler cap. This can leak fluid under extreme conditions without indicating a pump failure (such as experienced by Dr. Bob and Matt). The new system, which you likely have, has a non-vented cap. Even so, when you...

    Air Conditioning for the TomCat

Mike: I totally understand the fun of exploring the possibilities. Just for kicks, if you have not already seen this thread from 2006, check it out. It will make you smile. We even had a simultaneous "generator" thread going, just like now. http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t= ...

    Air Conditioning for the TomCat

The Honda 2000 is 47 lbs. The Yamaha 2400 is 70 lbs. That 23 lbs makes all the difference in the world! And then you add the weight of the gas... The Yamaha is also 5 inches wider (16.5 vs 11.4 for the Honda)

    Air Conditioning for the TomCat

Mike: You are working through the problem having decided that you want a 13,500 BTU roof top unit. That is your controlling factor, but it necessitates a larger, heavier generator, which is turning out to be impractical. After looking at the generator options (just as you are doing), many of us...

    Air Conditioning for the TomCat

A generator in the cockpit could be a carbon monoxide hazard unless the exhaust is vented to the outside of the boat in a safe manner.

    Air Conditioning for the TomCat

Yes, the forward berth gets no air flow even when the cabin is frosty. We use a small table fan placed on the floor of the cabin about a foot in front of the forward berth to blow cold air into the berth area. Works great. BTW, we only use A/C at anchor or in the marina. We place a $100 window...

    Air Conditioning for the TomCat

When you are under way with the outboards running, you won't need the A/C. We just got back from a 700 mile round trip down the ICW from Galveston to Port Isabel in the Texas summer, and the Tomcat running at 30 MPH generates more than enough breeze :? You will need A/C at anchor. Even if the...

TomCat: Thru-hull vs. Transom Mount Transducer

I have a transom mounted Raymarine. Works fine, except when there is lots of turbulence. I guess that would be true of any transducer. But there is a second problem- barnacle growth. Now that really messes up the transducer. The special transducer paint DOES NOT WORK, at least in Texas. The...

    Vents leaking

The "vent overflow" bottles do not work on the Tomcat...at least the ones sold by WM. The rub-rail placement prevents the bottle mouth from getting a tight seal around the vent. I just hold a large piece of fuel-absorbent cloth under the vent when refueling- sometimes the vent will burp fuel...

    SeaSport Out of Business

On a different thread Scott Boysen wrote "There are a lot of thoughts being posted and I always find that refreshing, as this site allows for honest and open discussions." Scott: We love these boats. Please tell us that you have printed out Jim's e-mail and made it compulsory reading for...

    Wallas light stays on

Bob: The light is bright while the cooktop is hot. About 20 minutes after switching off the stove, it goes dim- so it looks like the heat sensor is doing its job. Charlie: Mike at Scanmarine, while not sure why the light would stay on, also suggested that it might be a ground problem. That...

    Wallas light stays on

I noticed yesterday that the light under the ceramic cooktop on my Wallas was staying on dimly even after the stove had cooled. In other words, the light is bright when the stove is operating, but never quite goes off. It dims, but stays on even 24 hours later. I talked with Mike at Scanmarine...

    How Much Bottom Paint

Just finished putting two coats on the Tomcat (Micron CSC). The total amount of paint required was 5 quarts with just a little bit left over. This included painting the Armstrong bracket. I have four coats of epoxy on the bracket between the paint and the aluminum.
