Lightest emergency kicker for 25 Cruiser?

I've done the search and read the threads but wanted input on a specific situation. I do not need trolling or get home capability, only looking for "get out of the way of trouble" capability for river cruising---as in "here comes a barge!"--- in a package that is truly portable and within my...

    Why not twin kickers?

C-Otter also has the coolest cockpit covering around! Hey guys, I know I need to learn to drive the boat, and I'm also aware that it was me as much as the boat who was "wandering". I'm just speculating online while I wait for my boat to arrive, and I always enjoy hardee's advocacy of Twins, so I...

    Why not twin kickers?

Yes of course, but boaters buy thrusters for a reason. Some want any help available.

    I think I bought a boat!

We did go through with the purchase and should receive delivery around the first of the month which is when we will have a place to put it. Thanks to all for helping me through the jitters of a substantial purchase about which I know way too little. So now my education begins! In a bit over a...

    Why not twin kickers?

And is there any way to remotely control two small outboards? I may have just answered my own question there.

    Why not twin kickers?

Crazy idea? Here is where I'm coming from. My only time at the helm of a C-Dory came when Tom (Avidmagnum) let me try C-Otter, where I noticed that at slow speeds there was a bit of "wander" to deal with, lots of constant correction needed to counteract the wind. And I've been reading hardee's...

    cutout v-berth

You've been busy, Bob! That's a cleaver AC solution for someone who only needs one for an occasional overnighter now and then.

    cutout v-berth

Now that works, Marco! I could prop up in there. Otherwise I'll be sleeping on the dinette.

    cutout v-berth

Thanks for the photos, I like that but want even more. I want the "roof" gone, too.

    cutout v-berth

I like the open berth shown on the Marinaut photos and have seen other C-Dorys so modified. The Tomcats come a bit more open but I think that I want more than that. I'm a touch claustrophobic and think that I would like most everything to port of helm to be wide open, almost all the way...

    Marinaut Update

Thanks for the link, Robert. That is a cool idea for those who need a real head on a small boat.

    Marinaut Update

Dave I remember Les talking about a Marinaut 245 design, and I see some drawings of that floorplan on the facebook page. Was a hull or mold ever built for this bigger Marinaut?

    Marinaut Update

Curious as to what is eliminated with that porta-potty head compartment? The dinette?

    I think I bought a boat!

Tom and Joyce, it was our ride with you in Apalachicola that gave us the confidence to make a remote purchase, as we already knew that we felt comfortable on the C-25. That was a memorable day, thank you again. Bill & Sherry

    I think I bought a boat!

Still in progress, Tom. This all happened quickly and I could not be there in person so the sale is contingent upon survey and sea trial, which went down yesterday. I got a quick phone recap and I'm waiting for the detailed survey results. The surveyor did say that the 2004 F-150 hit 5400 rpm...

Height of 25 Cruiser for dry stack

    Thank you Bob!

    Marinaut Update

I always admired the Marinaut design and I do hope that it gets back into production. I find using the Cape Dory name a bit disturbing, but I've never liked a new company using an old famous name when they have no relation to that prior history, but I understand that it's common practice these...

Height of 25 Cruiser for dry stack

Both local dry stack storage facilities think the C-25 is too tall for them to accept and I need the actual height of the boat off the trailer, no arch or other items considered. I did a search and found the question, but not the answer. Anybody?

    I think I bought a boat!

Thanks for looking at the photos, Bob. I hope my surveyor does a good job as I can't be there to observe. This is a bit scary but unless both The Boat Shed and the surveyor are doing a number on me then I should not get hurt too bad at this price when a problem pops up. I did find my own surveyor.

    I think I bought a boat!

At that price I can stand a repower and some other updates, but I hope to be able to get a year or so out of the existing 150. I'm buying sight unseen so wish me luck! Survey is tomorrow so I'll know soon.
