Any new pilots for hydraulic steered outboards

Last December I stopped in at the Crescent City Marine store and ask them about the S-1000. Having little knowledge of the pilot they called them and they did not recommend it for my boat as I wanted primarily for fishing at slow speeds, less than 5 knots. My question for Roger is how has it...

Any new pilots for hydraulic steered outboards

Not yet, but looking hard at them for my 22. Thinking about the Garmin?

    Winterize fresh water system

I'm pretty sure if you blow the lines out with a good air compressor you are good to go. I've been doing that for a great many years with my RV and boat. Never once have I had an issue. NOW, let me say this. If you have an area where the water lays below the exit hose you may want to...

    Garmin Bluechart Mobile (iPad)

This goes to the question--is the i pad a substitute for a good chart plotter, or a supplement. I consider it a supplement and planning tool. I understand that some will use it as their only navigation instrument. Agree totally Bob. I have found a few errors over the last year using my Ipad...

    New Garmin lineup

Couldn't agree more. I think it was a case of poop or get off the pot with Garmin. When you look at all the neat stuff other vendors have put together Garmin was way behind. I too will be looking at upgrade in the next year or so.

Thanks Bob as usual for a great write up on the Air. Been thinking about getting it. Very good information so may have to jump in on the 5s.

WHERE CAN I BUY THIS CHEAPER?

I too keep a large sponge on board for cleaning. Mostly for the bilge area. This area is one I feel always needs to be clear of any debris. I fish a lot and everything that gets washed ends up in the sump. I also picked mine up at Lowes. I love West Marine for all it offers but they are...

    Trailer tiedown issues

Yep, with that setup it will always loosen up. Mine always does the same thing. The boat will shift if you hit a bump or curb. If there's a fix without spending another fortune I would also like to hear it. I can have my boat perfectly centered between the side boat guides when I leave my...

    Securing to a buoy

When tying to a buoy I have always tied to the bow towing eye. I keep a 4 foot rope tied to the eye and than secured to the anchor when not in use. Very easy clip and un-clip when you need it. I use my boat doc hook to reach down and retrieve it when I need to unhook. Never an issue falling...

    I-Pad air

I have been using my Ipad 2 for a couple years now and love it. Great backup to my on board Garmin. I really don't see a need for a water proof cover. You can google tides and get as many free tide programs you want. Apple has several good free weather apps I would say you should have.

    Boat Swapping

Yes indeed. I'm with you Chuck. Plan ahead, take your time, smell the roses a long the way. Several times I have found places to put the boat in along the way I didn't know about. Had a great time.

    Boat Swapping

Nope, never. Way to nervous a guy to captain a boat I didn't know about. Hand my Sea Wolf over to a guy I don't know. Not in this life. Might work for some but I'm out.. :crook
