Best place to leave our CD22 in the Northwest?

After reviewing the options for dry stack storage, inside storage, and outside storage - I'm thinking now of using outside storage with a cover. In Wisconsin we keep the boat covered inside my mother-in-laws barn, but a few years outside covered should not be a problem. After checking airfares...

Best place to leave our CD22 in the Northwest?

Thanks for all the info. I'm leaning toward finding inside storage and then towing the boat to a launch with the motor home. I like the idea of the dry storage, but don't think I need to do that based on probably only launching the boat two times a year. Lord hill farms sounds like a good...

Best place to leave our CD22 in the Northwest?

Our son just moved from Calgary to Vancouver. We would like to tow our CD22 out to that area (in-between Seattle and Vancouver) and leave it in storage for a few years while we travel back and forth in the motorhome/fly to visit our son and also cruise that area. Any suggestions on the best...

    Triton now Northwest Marine Industries?

Huge mistake closing the doors before selling the business - $150k+ mistake. Without that 2 month out of business time, they'd own the molds (after the earned out period) in June 2014. The company that bought the rights to the earn-out period made out like a bandit. Business is business...

    North Channel

I would also suggest launching in Spanish Municipal Marina. They have plenty of parking for truck and trailer. Once in the water, you'll be close to many many anchorages. We have launch the CD22 from Spanish on 3 different trips and we also took our 32' Sundowner Tug from Sturgeon Bay and...

    North Channel

We have the Richardson, but you really need a guide more than the charts. The guide will show you the places to anchor and the areas to get to. So many of the spots are in shallow waters but very doable with the right guides. We shaved the Great Lakes Cruising Clubs binders (5 large binders)...

    Injectors vs carbs

Just my 2 cents... If I was buying a new to me boat that I planned to cruise more than just locally, I'd trade the old motor in and buy the new one. I think if you run the boat often, the carbs are no big deal. We have had a few ski boats over the years (with carbs) and the only issue (and...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

After keeping our CD22 out of the water all of last year so we could enjoy our new motorhome, today it went back in our slip in Sturgeon Bay. Planned to cruise out to Green Island on the bay, but we started noticing more and more ice floats on the bay and decided it would be best not to hit one...

    Details for living aboard

My favorite subject of all. This has been my life's work (48yrs) to be a financially free nomad as early in my life as possible. We are finishing up our last and by far favorite job as parents - one in college and one three years from college. We are now financially free, just waiting for the...

    What are your 2013 plans?

Next week (2 weeks) -- South Carolina via Winnebago View End of April -- CD22 in the slip in Sturgeon Bay June (4 weeks) -- Quebec, East Coast, New York City, etc via Winnebago View August (2 weeks) -- North Channel via CD22 (planning on taking it on it's own bottom from Sturgeon Bay and...

Would you buy agin or go another way ?

No doubt, we'd buy another CD22. We came from a bigger boat and have no plans on going back. Love the CD22 - now need some warm weather to get it back out of storage.

    Popeye boat

Our Popeye trivia: Our first "bigger" boat was a 32' Sundowner Tug that we named "Me Ship, the Olive" - which of course Olive Oyl was Popeye's girlfriend and boat name. After a while we figured out it was too hard to communicate over the radio so we changed it to Brazo (which is Spanish for...

Water leak in hull- forces winter projects: advice needed

I agree, c-dory has not had very good owners/manufacturer over the years. The saving grace is the fact that the boat is pretty simple. If the boat had any complex systems, I'd stay away. That being said, we love our cd22 and the minor manufacturing issues are easy to fix - at least on the cd22.

    C-Dory vs Cruisers

We have cruised all over the Great Lakes (and live on) and don't recall any "no grey water" areas. That would be a major problem as all boats in this are discharge grey water. Must be small bay's here and there.

    C-Dory vs Cruisers

We had the advantage of realizing that more is not always better. We downsized from our beloved 32' Sundowner Tug and wanted everything to be simple and easy. The porta-potty never fills up because there is always a bathroom to take it and empty it - no looking for a pump-out. The statement...

    Cruising Europe

We plan on shipping our Winnebago View motor home over to Europe the summer after our youngest son graduates high school (currently a freshman). Seems very doable and I would think the c-dory would be just as easy to ship. Nice thing with the cd22, there isn't a whole lot to steal. There are...

    North Channel Benjamin Islands

I don't recall, but pretty quick. The path is all in protected waters. North Channel is a must do - our favorite cruising ground by far.

    teak help

We used Bristol Finish on our Sundowner Tug and that looked great. Loved the look of all the teak but hated the 'must do often' nature of it.
