    Wallas Exhaust Problem

No, I put it on as a baffle to prevent a side wind from interfering with the exhaust gases and thereby contributing to a Wallas black-out and shutdown. Whether this idea has any merit is open to discussion, but then that could be said of a lot of the things I've done. But it hasn't done any harm.

    Wallas Exhaust Problem

Man, this is ancient history, but I did indeed install the clamshell and it works fine. It didn't restrict the exhaust flow or discolor the gel coat in any way. How much it helps the situation overall, I couldn't say, but it surely doesn't hurt to try it.

    Transom Utility Bars

Those are the bars I put on the MOOSE and they work great; they provide a nice stable platform. I had them custom made by the outfit that makes the roof rails, whose name escapes me at the moment. I'm sure someone will chime in. Just measure the distance you need; the installation is simple. Al

    Sunbathing?

Check out the cargo net hammock photo in our album, it works like a charm.

    Les Lampman Passed Away

Les helped me a lot when we first bought the MOOSE. He took the time to write me pages of helpful information on wiring, hydraulic steering, and even how to install a removable helm seat, to name but a few. He was a kind and selfless individual and I will always remember his generosity to a...

SOLD - 22' C-Dory Cruiser For Sale, Darwin, MN

A lot of C-Dories in MN and Wisconsin have twins, including our own, as they came out of Northwest Outlet in Superior WI, one of the few dealers in our region, and they almost always sold them with that configuration. Perhaps the idea of being out on Lake Superior with a single engine that...

    Wallas question

I just put in a new Nordic in early July and, like Jay, have found it to run great. I'm a fan of them too, when they work properly and I have great hopes the new model will be better than the 17-year-old one we scrapped. While talking with Scan Marine about purchasing the Nordic, I was told...

    Rear Door Window With Screen.

No, not really; it was a straightforward installation. Admittedly the screened part of the window is only half the height, but it’s a perfect exhaust port for intake air coming in the v-berth hatch. We’ve even positioned an Endless Breeze fan over the opening to force a draft while frying fish...

    Rear Door Window With Screen.

I was one of the six, John, and in retrospect the deal we got was great. I still appreciate your orchestration of the purchase and we are still enjoying the benefits of a screened window in the door. Al

    "It's too hot to live"

I cannot imagine using Sunbrella for window coverings as they transmit zero light. Our C-Dory came with snap-on window coverings made by Proctor Canvas in Duluth MN. I don't know the name of the fabric, but they are a light cream color and are translucent, so that one gets shade without total...

    Paul Souders on Hudson Bay

By the looks of some of those mountains in a few of the photos, it appears that not all of them are from the Hudson Bay area.

    Wallas Louvered Vent?

Thanks everyone for your comments. I found a vent that would fit perfectly above the cabinet doors, but continued to wonder why I would need one. At the back left corner of the cabinet, where a lot of the control cables pass through, there is a cut-out that is easily 36 sq. in. and has, like...

    Wallas Louvered Vent?

We finally bit the bullet and ordered a new Wallas today, not wanting to attempt to keep the old one functioning for another few years at great cost. One thing I had never done with the old one was to install a 20 sq. in. louvered vent in our cabinetry as recommended. For those of you who have...

    Door vent

As for keeping mosquitoes out, I believe I could write a book. They will drive you nuts if you don't make every attempt to keep them out. After sealing all the obvious points of entry, some less obvious ones remain. The solar vent has been discussed, and mosquitoes can get in that way, even...

    Both tachs stopped working

And, as strange as it may sound, make sure your battery cables are tightly secured to the battery lugs. I had a tach problem too once and this ended up being the solution. I now use two hex nuts, one as a lock nut on top of the other, rather than wing nuts.

Would this fit and work well in the cockpit of a C-Dory

If there's an opportunity, I'll do it, but don't hold your breath. It's tough to lay in the hammock and take a photo of yourself at the same time, especially out on the lake! Take my word for it, if you want a hammock, this is the way to go.
