We were plugged in to 30amp at a local marina this weekend. Charger on, everything fine, used air cond. for a while, then shut it off...Using only house lights, radio, water pressure pump on, nothing else,...and in three hours the house battery was down...lights out, radio off. Engine battery...

    R25 THRUSTERS

Thanks for the info. I've never had a boat with thrusters until this one. I find the bow thruster seems much "stronger" than the stern, but perhaps that is just because it is pushing more, don't know. I do know that i periodically anchor in shallow water and kind of feel around the boat to see...

    R25 THRUSTERS

Curious as to why you need to replace the stern thruster....malfunction? What was the basic reason. Is the thruster covered by warranty? terraplane

    Greetings. At last.

Hello Moondance, Welcome to the Ranger 25. I am hull 52, and have 68 hours on the Yanmar 110. So far a great boat. Today we might give it another test, have to go down the Bay to play music and predictions might include one of Chesapeake's famous "boomers"...late afternoon thunderstorms that...

    lewmar pro series and anchoring

I have a Lewmar CE Pro Series 1000 on my boat. Chain and then 200 ft of rode. The windlass does not seem to "lock" meaning, after it drop, and runs out to sufficient degree, then i push the buttom "up" for a moment and assume it is locked. But with any current against it, it pulls out some...

    Byrdman Has A Small Stroke

I am still laughing about the "midget call girls"...this site should be mined for the humor. I had an uncle..Uncle Glenn, who had some of Byrdman's characteristics...he could make you laught, not with jokes, but with true life stories; he was knowledgeable..about so many things; and you had the...

2007 Alaska northern inland passage wilderness cruise

Jay and Jolee, Here i am on the Chesapeake, 35 years of exploring here, and nowhere near the end...but mostly, it is bucolic....calm, never too far away from what you need if a situation arises....and that is enough for me.. I find C Dory (and i hope Ranger) people have this wonderful ability...

    Lankford Marina Parking

Mark, When you call Lankford Bay Marina ask for John A (Groves). He runs the place pretty much. Identify yourself as a C Dory person...they are very happy with us for using them for the gathering. I'm sure he will ok parking the truck and trailer on their lot somewhere. tom in rock hall

    Chesapeake to Oriental, NC

Al and Pat, This site is amazing...your info is what i needed and i'll proceed. I have heard the Great Dismal trip is wonderful...and i never heard of the NC mini loop...sounds like a plan. I'm hoping for the first two weeks of September. tom

    06/06 - 06/08 - Annual Chesapeake Bay Gathering

And, of course, to Anne and Doug....the worker bees of this committee. This idea of "5th year: Fifty boats" intrigues me. Logistically, a nightmare, but what fun it would be. The group picture alone would be worth it! I have alread located additional parking for rigs. terraplane

    Chesapeake to Oriental, NC

This is entirely an exploratory post. Since I don't trailer, and my schedule at The Mainstay gives me just a few spaces of time, I am considering a 16 day trip this September..maybe from September 2 to September 17. From Rock Hall, to Whittaker Point , North Carolina, site of the C Dory...

    Byrdman Has A Small Stroke

Pat, Bill gave the best advice...i had a TIA about five years ago..came down the steps and said "where is my right arm" it was "not there" for a vew seconds...I had all the scans, neuro exams, at Johns Hopkins with a Doc who could have been my grandson. It was not even classified as a stroke...

    06/06 - 06/08 - Annual Chesapeake Bay Gathering

Charlie, I agree, the foundation is C Brat and should stay that way. Frankly, at the gathering people were more interested in the clever and creative ways C Dorys have been modified and adjusted to the tastes of the owners, than in the "new" boats. Sure missed you Charlie, but your work was...

    Byrdman Has A Small Stroke

Byrdman, What a shock! Maybe someone was telling you not to stay on Chesapeake during that torrid heat spell after our gathering, and rather, boogie on home...it was a good choice. Well, we need you: your humor, your insights and your knowledge...so follow good Dr.'s advice...take your...
