    Okeechobee Waterway

Yes, thanks for the heads-up and the link. We'll be crossing the pond, West to East, on or about 2/22. This will add to the anxiety, or adventure, of traveling in unknown waters.

    The Galley

The Formica color that matches the best is Antique White 932-58.

    Firearms onboard

I'm gonna try this one more time. Does anyone know if it's technically legal for me to carry ANY gun onboard, while traversing Florida, without a Florida carry permit?

I've found the .410 to be adequate defense against errant pheasant. We wingshoot off a friends English Field Setter, and found that the 12's and 20's were not very sporting given the 5 and 10 yard shots we were presented with. We now have a .410-only rule when shooting over this fabulous dog...

    Firearms onboard

I got my Geco flare gun today. It's 26.5 MM, and some googling shows that to be an international standard, even though WM sells 25MM. The surplus rounds available are about $30 for 10 rounds, plus $20 hazmat shipping. They probably work, but are out of date by decades. The outfit I bought it...

    Firearms onboard

Has anyone had an occasion to use a flare gun at close range? Would it just bounce off of an object, or do some damage? I just ordered a German made 25MM gun, but at $50 for three rounds, I don't think I'll be doing much combat practice. Olin also makes 25MM to 12 gauge adapters, and...

    Firearms onboard

Thanks for the link Nick. I'll spend some time there. Here in NJ, We're a "may-issue" state. A resident can get carry permit if they have a REALLY good reason. Almost impossible for a regular Joe. But we can get a Florida CCW. Huh.

    Firearms onboard

If I beat someone with a life jacket, I will have committed the crime of using a weapon. The question is, does anyone know the subtleties of intra-state, and intra-coastal firearms law?

Loaded/unloaded, longarm/handgun, do these technicalities make a difference in how long you'll be detained?

    Firearms onboard

I’ve been boarded several times by the Coast Guard in the last few years. The first thing they ask is, “Do you have any weapons on board?” I have responded, “Yeah, I have a pocket knife.”, and they don’t seem to care. Time served on jury duty has taught me that anything used as a weapon, is...

    ALONE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA?

Syd & Margo- Welcome to the group! The trip we're planning is to trailer to Sarasota leaving Jersey 2/16. Arrive for family gathering on 2/19. Hang out a couple of days, then head South past you for a trip through the canal, then North up the ICW. We have 17 days to work with, and the middle...

    C-Dory Mystery Boats - The C-Ranger Tugs!

The mystery boat won't be rigged and finished, but Jeff said the hull, topside, and liner will be completed so that potential buyers can get a feel for the size and layout. Edited by Da Nag - topic split, pasted quote from Minnow's earlier note.

Help! Honda 150 Wouldn't Start Today!

Hey Pat, I just happened to read this post this morning before I left for the New York boat show. As I have the same motor, I stopped by the Honda booth and found Robin Senger (The Honda Professor from their web site) and Warren Reid, the regional service rep. I told them about your problem...

How High to mount radar dome on CD25?

I had a chemistry professor in college, that told me that he was stationed at an early warning radar installation in Alaska during WW2. He said that when they got cold, that they would walk out in front of the dish to warm up. Was he just pulling my leg?

    batteries/winter

I've had that charger on my last boat, (7 years) and now on my 25. It works as advertised. Just top off the water now, plug it in, and forget it. Of course that assumes you're near power. If not, you're better off bringing them inside for prolonged freezing weather. The charger that I use...

    ALONE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA?

This trip sounds like it coluld fit in real well for us, as it's just what we have been planning. Nanci's dad is on the west coast, in Sarasota, and will be having a celebration for his mom's 100th birthday on or about Feb 21. He offered to drive our truck and trailer to the east coast for us...

    V-Berth Bedding

We bought a king-sized "memory foam" mattress topper for the v-berth, and found that it has been well worth the $90 it cost at Sam's. As an added bonus, we glued together the two corners cut off, and made a dog bed out of them. Now we're one happy pack.

    CD-25 cabin drain?

Some 25's, including mine, had/have leakage from the rub rail behind the head compartment. It seems that the factory did not seal the section of hull-to-deck joint that is inaccessable when the boat is assembled. My dealer removed the rub rail, sealed the joint from the outside, and re-installed...
