    Anchor rode marking

I use color coded tie wraps- the very small ones. Red every 100 feet and yellow every 25. I put them through the rode. E.g. 1 red and 2 yellows means 150 feet.

Honda 2 hp Kicker for 22' Cruiser, and 8'6" Dinghy

Here's a photo of the Garelick pad I installed. Pad cost about $70 and is robust. As mounted, top of pad is 3.5 inches above top of transom. (This solution would not work with long trim tabs.)

Honda 2 hp Kicker for 22' Cruiser, and 8'6" Dinghy

Greg, is that Suzuki 2.5 a 15 inch shaft? (likely because I don't see any longer ones on web). Can you provide a better picture/measurements on how high on the transom it is mounted, and where the prop sits in relation to the bottom of transom. Looks like a versatile kicker/dingy motor solution...

    Removing gas from tank

I too would like an easy way to remove fuel from the tanks. I bought the Harbor Freight pump a couple of years ago and it did not work well. What has worked better, but still not great, is to undo the fuel hose connection to the Racor (hose comes from the fuel tank switch valve), use double barb...

Is my 22 cruiser cabin top cored?

I am looking at fastening a 4-rod fishing rod rack to the ceiling of my 2008 22 cruiser, high top. If the high top is cored I would use screws which would penetrate about 5/8 inch into the top, but I'm not interested in drilling a test hole which would pop outside if the top is not cored...

Should I Buy a Trailer to Help Sell

Was that $3800 for a good quality galvanized trailer? If I recall correctly, a quality trailer for a CD 25 on the west coast runs about $6k and up (e.g. Pacific Trailer). If the prospective buyer knows trailers, he or she may be turned away by having to buy a possibly short-lived and...

    new power

My old Sea Ray would dive left at speed if the outdrive trim was fully down. This was a bit scary! Try adjusting your outdrive trim up, to a position where the ventilation plate is parallel to the bottom of the hull. With the boat on the trailer, adjust the trim to be parallel and note that...

    Long(!) kicker bracket

I am getting around to improving my kicker mount described earlier in this thread. I was strongly thinking of a mini-jacker. Today I saw the following photo, posted by Retriever, which shows a simple mount by Les Lampman, apparently just using a mounting pad to raise the kicker a few inches...

    03/25 to 03/29 - 13th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

My co-pilot John, myself, and my no-name 22 all arrived safely in Fort Bragg yesterday afternoon. This was a most amazing, fun, and memorable trip for me. With the good weather and favorable tidal currents, we really gobbled up those miles. Jim and Kath- thanks so much for arranging this...

    03/25 to 03/29 - 13th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

Jim- I finally have a co-pilot! My friend John will be aboard. And Steve- thank you for the help-ful comment. Tess and I have not yet formally renamed our boat (formerly "Vista Vixen" of Tahoe Vista). Maybe "Waterbug" or "Firefly" but I will be open to suggestions during the event. I look...

    03/25 to 03/29 - 13th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

Jim- Regarding your question about another person on my boat-- My wife Tess cannot make it, so I have been asking friends that I think would be suitable, with no luck so far. I would rather not single-hand this trip. Doug

    Trim Tabs or Permatrim

Engine mount height, which you can research on this site, is also in the equation. If too low, the engines can be brought up a hole or two and improve performance. Check the height after mounting the permatrims: With the boat on plane and the engines trimmed parallel to the hull, the permatrims...

    Woodbridge Ecological Reserve California Delta

I can't help you with the cranes, but for scenic wildlife habitat in general, check out The Meadows Slough and vicinity (take it slow and watch your tides and depths), and also take a leisurely cruise down Georgiana Slough.

    Cap for anchor light housing

My 2008 22 cruiser has a Perko 1209DP2CHR detachable anchor light and yours is likely the same. The lens has a number "248" which you can check to see if this is your model. I have found Perko customer service very helpful with little component parts like that.

    Electric Brakes

When I bought our Sea Ray in 2004 (sold 2013), the surge brakes, which were installed on one axle of the tandem trailer, were totally shot, including the cylinder and the lines. Cost to replace all was going to be over $500 in parts for the single axle. I discovered that Fulton was producing...

Cracking along bottom of 22 cabin bulkhead - how to repair?

Hi C-Brats-- Shortly after purchase of our 2008 22 in June, I noticed some fine cracking across the entire bottom of the aft side of cabin bulkhead. I attributed it to less-than-fastidous build quality (like the numerous nonstructural gelcoat cracks) and was not too concerned. After a recent...
