    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

It takes a boat! :P Hah. Just funnin with you. Not many requirements. You just have to clear customs, a passport is best to have, but I do not believe it is mandatory. Boat directly to one of the marine customs locations, clear customs and once that is done you are free to travel wherever your...

    Stern Line question

300 ft of 3/8 floating line has worked for me for 14 years of stern tying. Make it a bright colour so it can be seen easily. Many people just use the cheap yellow nylon, but I find that a double braid is much easier to handle and store. I just flake it into a milk carton. There have very few...

Peter, I wish I had a way to shrink the size of the Georgia Strait for the PRCBGT but no joy. For some it will be part of the adventure of getting here. I hear you when you mention time constraints and work. The only way to avoid the larger crossing is to trailer. As far a getting through...

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

Doug & Susan, Martin is right on with his comments. Whiskey Golf can be active for consecutive days but it isn't active often. It is just another item to be aware of. Even if its active its easy enough to go around the WG area to the east or to the west. As Martin also said, the route I...

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

Well here I go again. Another not so detailed, not so accurate routing guide to the PRCBGT. This time its a west side route starting in Friday Harbor. Why Friday Harbor? Cause its a fun place, and a whole bunch of you C-Brats will have found your way there for this upcoming weekend. The...

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

Pat, You certainly have it right with this statement. (With substituting US for Canadian LOL) We'd be at Bellingham if we didn't need to organize Powell River. I do hope one or two folks manage to bookend these gatherings. Thats in part, why I suggested a "Strait Shot" for at least one way...

    Trust Your GPS?

For all of us (well at least me) that tend to "believe" our GPS is giving us accurate info. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/news/articles/ontario-woman-follows-gps-right-into-tobermory-harbour/67727/This should remind us to look up from our electronics and pay attention to our surrounding...

    Bellingham Chart Printers

Jim, Sorry to hear of your troubles with Bellingham Chart Printers. I can't really be of much help on where to buy charts stateside, other than to say West Marine used to carry paper charts. I don't know if that has changed. You would be welcome to borrow our chart books of Desolation Sound and...

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

Wow time flies! Too long ago I had said I'd suggest a few cruise routes to the PRCBGT well... here's the Strait Shots. I call them that because they are basically straight (as possible) up the Georgia & Malaspina Straits. Especially the East Side Strait Shot. First a few disclaimers: I won't...

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

Wow great to see this much interest in the PRCBGT! I've been off line for a couple of days but I'll endeavour to answer some of the questions and probably create others. 1) launching from on the Sechelt peninsula. (Thats the chunk of land you drive along after you've taken the Horseshoe Bay...

CD25 cabin / cockpit bulkhead question.

Tom, We had that problem on Meander. Turned out to be no caulking between the bottom of the bulk head and the hull. The cockpit access hatch had to be pulled and then caulking added all along the bulkhead bottom. No problem since the factory guys repaired it in 2006. If you pull the cockpit...

    Nor Easter

Apparently lots of folks along the eastern seaboard are getting a real wintery start to 2016. Hopefully all eastern C-Brats are tucked away somewhere snug and warm, while this storm rages. Ron

Hypervent adhesive -- what kind of adhesive has people used?

I have heard of people using several of the cheap furnace filters to make up a hypervent like mat under the v-berth mattress. We use the hypervent material on Meander and it has worked well for us for 5 years. No glue, and with hypervent on the side of the mattress as well to allow the air to...

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

Chuck, Unfortunately you have the numbers for the ferry right. Fortunately I have negotiated with the Canadian government for a special deal for C-Brats that attend the PRCBGT. For this event they will take an American dollar and give $1.43 Canadian! Its a very special deal for the PRCBGT...

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

Geoff, 16's can make it no problem with an eye to the weather. At one of the first BC gatherings which was held in Desolation Sound in 2005, Catman Brock came in his 16 Angler. I think he is based in the Seattle area. He spent about a week cruising in Desolation and area. Now if only we can...
