MapCreate Question - Display of water depths?

I have to say I'm fairly disappointed in this software. Obviously, it is not nav software without water depths. Perhaps that was my mistake. However, I tried to make a route with it. The basic route creation went OK, but any attempt to insert waypoints into the route resulted in a bad...

    Single-Handed Docking...

I would back in, get a line on the piling at the end of the finger pier and basically tie the boat at that point. Then, move astern and get something on to keep the boat in the slip. After that, get the 'real lines' and tie them on. To get out to the bow pilings, I would take a long line to...

best place for generator on cd22?

You've seen the posts about installing a small home window unit in the center window at the helm, right? Doesn't give you A/C while running, but works great at the dock or anchored, and costs $100 or so. If you buy one, spend the extra $20 and get the one with thermostatic control. See the...

Condensation of Water in Fuel Tanks - a myth?

I love the "empty the tanks" suggestions. Now how the heck are you supposed to empty a gas tank? If I absolutely had to, I'm sure I could figure it out. But, as noted, it's usually the fuel vent, cap or similar that is the cause of the water. Mike

    Do it yourself electronics installation?

West Marine carries some interesting arms with ball mounts on them. I had considered mounting the GPS on one of these so I could move it around to suit my purposes. In the end, I did not because I liked where I had mounted the plotter and I had already drilled the mounting holes. Wiring: Buy...

CD-22 Cut-away, Mounting light over dinette

The handrail bolts are very long. It is difficult to tell exactly how thick the roof is. I'll probably avoid the risk and use epoxy. Thanks, Mike

There seems to be something in there. I made a blow up of photo 4 from the original image. Maybe it's not balsa, but rather some other filler? Mike

CD-22 Cut-away, Mounting light over dinette

Hi All, Cutter Marine has a CD-22 sliced into a cross section. When I was there in 2006, I took some photos. Finally got around to putting them in my album. I'm not going to post a link in case I move stuff around - but they are not hard to find. Looks like there is maybe 1/8" of coring in...

    Do it yourself electronics installation?

I would try and test mount everything first and power it up. Look for interference between the display and the VHF if they are within a few feet of each other. In my limited experiene with GPS chartplotters, I have found them to be rather noisey. Mike
