best place for generator on cd22?

I looked at mounting on transom with a platform. However, I feel it could get swamped offshore. Any good solutions? I was even thinking about closing off the high top and recessing the a/c and generator on top of cabin.

You've seen the posts about installing a small home window unit in the
center window at the helm, right? Doesn't give you A/C while running, but
works great at the dock or anchored, and costs $100 or so. If you buy
one, spend the extra $20 and get the one with thermostatic control. See the
photos in my album for an exact model that fits. Order one online
from BestBuy. If they mess up, like they did for me, they shipped directly
to my house for free. Anything that saves a drive out where Best Buy
is great (nothing against the store, just Delaware traffic).

Bob Austin (thataway) has notes on what the startup draw on A/C unit
like this is and what it would take to run it. Check his posts, but I think
the 1000 watt Honda will do it.

As to mounting... well, the basis of my post is A/C while not running, so I
would keep the genny in the cabin somewehere. We keep the A/C in
the V, as shown in the photos. When running the genny, probably put it in
the splashwell.

When I run the Honda 2000 I put it on a small platform I made that fits in the side of the engine well. It exhausts straight out over the transom to the rear. It is built so that it sits level. Only problem is it is out in the weather if it is raining. I am going to remedy that with some kind of cover.

David,
I thought you were going to remedy that with a new Rosborough 246 with the extended hardtop.

I don’t have a 22 but my generator sits in a platform inside the splash well. It sits high enough to exhaust over the port side and all controls are accessible from the deck.

On the CD25 the cockpit floor is just the right height to put the generator on top of the cooler so the exhaust is pointed aft and clears the transom. I used to have a platform for the splashwell but it was one more thing to carry around that was in the way when not in use so one day I tried the cooler and it works great. I suppose on the CD22 the cooler might not get the generator exhaust up high enough to clear the transom, I don't know.
