    Canadian Boarder opens April 1st

It's not really a can a worms or sad. That's how that's how the site is intended. You can't really ask and answer meaningful questions about your current state of affairs (health, etc...) three months in advnace of a trip. Open an account and then, within 72 hours of your trip, log on and file...

Going rate for slant back canvas cover?

I'd like to have a snap-on, slant back, Sunbrella canvas cockpit cover made for my 25' c-dory. Not a camper back. Anybody know the going rate these days in the PNW? I've been somewhat shocked by the quotes I've received so far, and not in a good way.

What's your favorite fish for the table ?

Those wild caught sockeye filets (pin bones removed!) from Costco are really quite good.

What's your favorite fish for the table ?

Huachinango a la Veracruzana. Man, done right, with actual Red Snapper, it doesn't get much better than that, in my book. With regards to salmon, I'm partial to sockeye. Around here, nothing beats some freshly caught spot prawn, brought back to the campsite on Sucia, stuck on a...

What's your favorite fish for the table ?

No matter how you try to sell it, or buy it, you're still paying good money for really stale bread!

Fiberglass Part - What is it?

Might it be a foot rest for a shorter person when they are at the helm, so that their feet aren't dangling?

    New member quality issues...

I opened this thread thinking that it was going to be a discussion about the quality of members who have recently joined c-brats. I was disappointed to find that, instead, it was a discussion, started by a new member, about the quality of c-dorys. There was no discussion at all about new...

mounting Scotty 2500 prawn /crab trap puller on a 22 cruise

I have the 2500 and it's great for pulling crab traps. It's ok for shrimp pots, not ideal, but way, way, way better than not having a puller at all. I'm still pretty strong and my son is stronger, so that may be a factor as well. You have to help the 2500 with some muscle if you're using it for...

Considering the purchase of a C-Dory?

I have a lot of young friends, with small families, who greatly covet the C-Dory. The problem is that they cannot afford the C-Dory. It's not an entry level boat to most working class families.

    Cover for 16' cruiser

OP, I had a custom canvas cockpit cover made for my boat many years ago. It wasn't cheap, but I consider it one the best investments that I've ever made for any boat I've ever owned. It snaps perfectly into place, with cutouts and modification to accommodate all the irregularities of my boat...

I bought it now what do I do?

If your boat doesn't have it already, I would think about investing in a canvas cockpit cover. Conversely, if you and your family are going to be camping IN the boat, a full camper-back might be a good option too.

    help finding gasket material

I have found a lot of info here regarding the replacement of hatches, but not so much if one wants to try just replacing the gaskets. I know Bob of Thataway has done this.

    help finding gasket material

I'm just joining in here because I have the same issue with the cockpit hatches on my 25. Right now, the leak so much, I might as well not even have hatches!

Best deal ever on a 16

Whenever I read these kinds of stories I always hope the the "elderly" person was financially comfortable, in full possession of her faculties and not taken advantage of during a period of grief.

Tollycraft 34 vs CC 26 - worth it to make the wife happy

Well, the Tollycraft, with all its flybridge splendor, was built in and for the PNW waters. The Tolly flybridge has that odd looking forward facing windshield that does an amazing job of keeping the wind off a seated person. I had the pleasure of using a Tolly for one summer up here in...

    A couple crabs

That's kind of how it works, here in the Puget Sound. Here, a male crab becomes sexually active at 2 years of age and becomes legally catchable at four years of age. So a legal male crab has had two years to contribute to making new crabs. A male crab can still help make plenty of new crabs...

Tollycraft 34 vs CC 26 - worth it to make the wife happy

Great comments. A couple more: 1) A Tolly CAN be fast and it CAN be relatively economical to run (with regards to fuel consumption), but it can't be both at the same time. 2) A flybridge is a wonderful thing.

    A couple crabs

That's incredible. The local grocers around here charge $15 a pound for a whole crab. So, you caught 24 crabs, assume 2.5 pounds per crab at $15 per pound; You caught $900 worth of crabs in one day! That almost makes buying a boat seem like a reasonable thing to do!

How Far Did You Travel To Buy Your C-Dory?

I had to travel to an entirely different county to purchase my first c-dory. Fortunately, that "different country," Canada, was only 23 miles away.
