I think it we had listended more closely to the wisdom of Amos and Andy we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today!

San Diego CG vessel collides with Sea Ray, killing 1

I avoided our lighted boat show this year because mainly of the reckless operation following the show last year. I waited about and hour for boats to disperse somewhat last year and I slowly cruised along at hull speed to try and get out of the congestion. My night vision isn't good so I was...

136-foot tug grouded on Bligh Reef PWS AK

My next door neighbor is Captain of a Crowley Tug and typically goes from Jax to Puerto Rico. He recently had and incident where his tow barge took out a mile marker in the Saint Johns and it was quit and investigation. Like Bob I'll talk to him and see what his take is on it. I expect it will...

    Everyone, say, "Hi, Tom!"

Hi Tom, I know absolutely nothing about sailing but have had small power boats most of my 62 years. Several years ago I had some health issue's one being skin cancers. I was advised to stay out of the sun plus I really wasn't able to physically handle boats without the conviences that the...

    surfboard rowing?

I've seen it a few times around here. As a former surfer many, many years ago I can see where it would be really great exercise more so than conventional surfing. I hadn't thought about the life jacket requirement but it makes sense.

    Just askin'

Greg I've got and old saying "if two people always agree one of them is kissing the others butt". Some of us myself especially have really passionate views on things that have absolutely nothing to do with boating or C-Dory's. It's really neat to me that we are from so many different backgrounds...

    Raymarine S1000 installation pictures

Nice looking job. I really don't know what all the concern is over the noise I don't find it that bad either. One thing I found that the autopilot really is good for is fog. Last fall I had and unexpected fog roll in while I was underway behind Captiva Island in unfamiliar waters. I don't think...

Dagnabbit -- I should've been paying attention the weather!

I think I'd try to siphon the water out and put a heat gun or hair dryer on the pump maybe it you get enough water out put a heater in it. I wouldn't use auto antifreeze it's pretty toxic maybe alcohol? on edit be very careful what ever electrical device you might use.

Dagnabbit -- I should've been paying attention the weather!

If you have power to the boat you could at least put a portable heater in the pilot house. Of course that wouldn't help the cockpit. Maybe a lightbulb in the starboard fish box? Good Luck.

    Fuel Filter bowls

My boat came factory rigged with the all metal filter mounted in the splash well and it's hard to get apart also. It doesn't have a drain either. I want to replace mine with the plastic bowl for the reasons Marc points out.

leak around 360 degree light on the Tom Cat.

I had a lot of problems with my all around light not making good contact that I finally replaced it with a hard wired folding LED light. When I removed the old light it hadn't leaked but I really don't know why it didn't have any sealant what so ever. My roof hand rails have all leaked and...

    A Nearly Broken Heart

Glad you caught it I had a similiar experience last March which resulted in two stints being put in my "widow maker" the up side to this is my breathing is much improved and hopefully you will realize a new level of energy. The only symtoms I had were it felt as if someone had both elbows in...

PEARL HARBOR - THANKS ED AND OTHERS

My Dad spoke very little about the war but he was in and interesting unit in China this site describes it. The statement they were called the Greatest Generation is interesting I've heard the same from friends who work with Hospice how that generation never complained...
